How much did you spend on your dvc membership

I'm always wishing I had invested in Apple and Starbucks and Amazon back in the day.
But at the time, it seemed crazy :)
In school in I think in 2007 or 2008 I had an economics class where we had to pick a stock to focus on for the semester. I chose AAPL, and it had doubled by the end of the semester and only kept going up from there since that was around the start of the iphone, before ipads, etc. My dad was big into stocks and investing and I kept telling him about it and he bought a bunch and I bought a little. Still paying off today for us as that was a big home run lol.
Warren recommends VOO (Vanguard EFT) as a set and forget investment. Lowest expense ratio. SPY is another good choice but with a high expense ratio. My current favorite high risk is Rocket Lab. It is up over a $1 since June when I bought in. (I am an IT guy not an investment guy do your own research).
That's what I throw my money into if I don't have anything specific I want to buy. Was going to recommend an S&P 500 ETF or something similar like that instead of individual stocks if you don't know what to invest in. That's what all the Gurus are trying to beat so it's definitely an easy purchase and it lets the market choose the stocks for you.

I wish I could wrap my mind around getting a bunch more points and then renting to cover dues, but knowing my luck Disney would somehow eliminate renting, and I'd be stuck :O
Not stuck, you just sell. ;)

I remember talking to these 2 guys who were setting up a kiosk at a concert I was working and they asked if I wanted to get in on the ground floor, and I asked what the hell is a Yahoo. lol

Our first contract was 190. points at OKW for about 13,000. We'll keep that one until we either die it expires.

My first contract was a 40 point resale at OKW back in 2011. I paid around $60 a point. Been buying and adding on ever since. Currently at 823 points with 90 being processed. Probably get to the 1000 point club at some point.

Following back in some of the Aulani stuff:

1) If you get a 1 bedroom or larger (which I would highly recommend) then the kitchen and laundry very much come in handy….more than at a theme park.
2) Most people do a Target/Costco/Foodland trip on the first day to stock up on food and beverage options (including pre-made).
3) There is a TON to do on Oahu, so IMO the only reason someone would be bored is because of lack of effort.
4) That being said, my wife has requested a “do nothing” trip when we go back in a month…. so that means we will be spending a lot of time in Ko Olina and probably driving over to the North Shore. I’m foreseeing lots of walks along the lagoons and possibly some golf.
5) She understands that also means I will try to have us take ukelele lessons, go to the hula lessons, and take the history and nature tours in property 🤣…. but save the Poleneysian Cultural Center, additional Pearl Harbor exhibits, Palace, etc until we go back next summer.
6) Flights: Use Google flights and track when the best time to book a flight usually is. You can get some great deals. You can also look into getting to LAX with one airline and booking a different airline for the round trip to Hawaii.

In our house, the saying is VTSAX and relax!

Haleiwa town for lunch!!

Can we start a DVC Anonymous group? I've gone from 220 to 395 in two months? I'm still scratching the itch by looking for BWV or SSR points and I don't think I can really even use them, if I'm honest with myself.
I just hit that same wall a few weeks ago, I wanted to add on CCV, but realized the only way I could actually use them would be upsizing at 7 months, or staying longer, or another trip within the same vacation window. None of which are a good way to plan. lol

But, yes i'd proudly wear that DA badge. ;)

We have 500 poitnts. We are right below $100,000. Our PP was much better when it was just VGF that we had bought in 2013 and 2017 and even when we added on when BPK opened. Our huge hit to our rice per point was last summer when our DD really wanted CCR and we got points at $250 per point.

We do not regret any of the purchases but I could have gone my whole life not knowing how bad the CCR direct purchase hit my price per point average.

I too would happily own the DA badge.

That's our problem. I now want 2BRs even though there are just five of us and three are aged 9, 6, and 4.

We did a 2BR in May with my parents and my mom told me last weekend that she and my dad will be booking their own rooms going forward (not meant as a slight to us, just trying to allow us to do what we want since we have our own DVC points and they use theirs to treat their four kids to WDW) and I think the 2BRs are the best fit for our family.

On a totally unrelated note, how are the 3BRs at WDW? 😂

Our plan is for a 10 day family vacation in early June in a 2BR and then solo trips for my wife and I for three nights (her trip would be late January and mine would be late September and both would be in 1BRs because we can because we have the points.)
