How Much Did I Pay For This Self Inflicted Fun? A Wigdout trip report.

Dawn, Dan, Carsyn, Trayner, and Baylor stopped to say hi! We would be meeting up with them later in the trip too!

Here are the Baylors!

They are so funny together!

Here's a picture of Dawn and Dan and the crew, plus Wigd! I guess Dawn has the picture of Treyner and Keeley....

i do and will get to that post in a few days...Our trip started earlier so my day of this is like day 5....ugh!
118-3.jpg

Not too bad! If I was skinnier I could see a bit of resemblance between me and Carsyn...and I will kdnap this pic because itturned out way better than mine.

Great pic!
It was so funny when we were hanging out with Dawn & her crew, the whole time Treyner was talking about meeting Keely. Glad they got to hang out!
Thanks for reminding me he did ask almost a thousand times that day! ;):lmao:

ewwww...Tuna cassarole???
Me too. I would rather eat barf.
Dis meets are so fun! part of why I like them is then I can tell my kids that my dis friends aren't imaginary..
My kids are just glad there mom is not solo on the nut farm.:rotfl2:

The plan is to drive all night, take turns driving....
Make it an hour outside of Orlando Saturday evening and spend the night. Get up the next morning and drive on into the Boardwalk and check in.
Go to a park and wait for them to text us when our villa is ready.
We will have to drink caffeine!
:goodvibes

What! So you are driving now! We might just be doing the same thing and I am trying to bookend a few days at Disney going down and coming back! We need to talk!

How many hours is it for you guys?:confused3

This is basically what we did last spring break, although we didn't drive all night. We planned to stop an hour or so out of WDW the night before our DVC ressie started, but I couldn't find anything for less than $100... and with the AP discount, a room at All-Star Movies was only $130... so we added on the night there. If we hadn't done that, we'd have one extra day THIS spring break before the APs expire! :rotfl: Oh well.

Pack LOTS of caffeine for the car - the drive is long enough as it is, without driving through the night.

Yes you will have to drink a lot of caffeine...something about the way you wrote "Get up the next morning and drive on into the Boardwalk and check in" made me laugh...:lmao:...after you driving all night I am literally picturing the two of you driving on into the Boardwalk-

don't ...I suggest you get out of the car and walk on in...;)

:lmao::lmao::lmao:

FUH-knee.

Great update!! We love 50's PTC. I had to go into a corner & sing once:rolleyes1
And we actually went back another time but everything was good. Sorry your meat was fatty!! Cannot stand fatty meat.
Harper looks so cute in her jammies sitting in the tub. Cannot wait to hear about your first full day.
I just know that the next time we eat at 50's PT it's going to be great! Did I mention, I'm having the fried chicken?
First full day coming up before too much longer.... maybe tomorrow or Thursday.

popcorn:: Patiently waiting for the next installment... :)

(and psst... I started a TR for my Christmas trip, too... )
Thanks for the invite! I'll be getting on an update in a day or two!
I missed ANOTHER trip planning event. First June, then Christmas, then Spring Break, now couples only birthday trip. I can't keep up! WOW - you really did hit the motherload on DVC points! :thumbsup2
We do have a few!:goodvibes
Good for Baylor showing the rest of the group how to do things! :thumbsup2

I think you missed my 'bad MeMom' reply yesterday, but if it makes you feel any better (I know it makes me feel better), I think we are going to try to go to the Memphis Zoo during spring break. If we do that one day and then I spend one night in Alabama with the girls, I'll get through it okay. ;) I have a laundry room that needs to be cleared out and cleaned out, so I will be more apt to get that done with some time to do it, too. Meanwhile, that ugly balance on the credit card can continue to shrink.

I'll look forward to pictures from you guys and tinkgurl, and hopefully you can meet up and send us a picture. :) If it works that you are all coming back through at the same time, we could do another hippo meet on that Saturday. We can toss that around after you guys decide for sure how you are traveling.
It will sure feel good to have that laundry room cleaned out and have a shrinking credit card balance!
I think a hippo meet would be awesome, I hope it works out! I'll let you know what our travel plans end up being...

Okay WigD, why are you over on my TR asking me about Vera Bradley... HMMM? :rolleyes1
I had my eye on a certain cupcake green number.....
In Disney? I guess I didn't realize your spring break was so much earlier than ours!
We are typically out in the middle of March, are you out a lot later?
Oh Dear oh Dear oh Dear.... :rotfl:

:rolleyes1

I will not be the enabler I will not be the enabler I will not be the ....
Of course you won't....:rolleyes1
I've done the all night drive before. In 1999 we left after work and drove all night. We got to our hotel at 6, freshened up in the restroom, went to breakfast at McDonalds then caught a bus for DHS. Of course our all night drive is 11 hours, I think yours might be a little longer.

Oh goodness, I would have to have a nights sleep before going to the parks.

Yes you will have to drink a lot of caffeine...something about the way you wrote "Get up the next morning and drive on into the Boardwalk and check in" made me laugh...:lmao:...after you driving all night I am literally picturing the two of you driving on into the Boardwalk-

Yes, we'll park first. If not you'll see us on the news!
Staying an hour out was great! Just ignore any dead lizards you might see! :lmao:

Our Spring Break is much later than yours. We have the week of March 29-April 2. I'm still trying to sneak some small trip this year, but so far Sam's holding strong. D23 even has a Food & Wine event on my 40th birthday in October. which is our Fall Break! But ~~ we'll be there for Spring Break/St. Patrick's Day 2011 for sure.
When is your fall break?
Hi Anita! I have not forgotten about you, I am here! :goodvibes

Harper is such a darling - what a cute baby!

How fun that you got to meet some DIS friends!

I hope the sickies are ending soon for your trip....that is no fun!!
They got better fast! Glad to see you back Katie! Are you starting a trip report?
Loved the update!!!! So glad that most of you got to get out and get some good food and get to spend time with some beloved DISers!!!!

I bet you all were SO pooped!!!! I am sure your first night of Disney sleep was a good one!!!
We slept like logs! So darn tired....
It was fun to see our DIS friends and get out even if it was a quick evening.
:goodvibes
Lucky dawgs!

You're gonna be tired dawgs, though!
We are going to be dawg tired that's for sure!

Unless an affordable airfare comes along, we are driving. It's about 24 hours. We are planning to leave on Friday late afternoon, early evening and driving straight through and having a room an hour outside of Orlando. Driving on in on Sunday morning...
You'll be there on my birthday (15th). Be sure to eat something SUPER yummy for me!:goodvibes
We will, I promise!

I know, it's going to be tough staying awake. We might find ourselves pulling over in a rest stop taking a nap!
:lmao::lmao::lmao:

FUH-knee.

Quite the mental picture!
:lmao:

We drove straight through on our December trip. DH did most of the driving (al night) and it took us about 26.5 hours. We originally planned to stop in Georgia or near the FL border, but we were "so close" we could get there by 8 pm, basically go to bed and start fresh in the a.m. So we did. Would I recommend that? Not so much. But it worked out for us.
It's tough because I don't sleep well for a couple days before a trip, so staying up half the night on the road was not the best. But once we were there, I was fine and raring to go!!

How many hours driving do you think it will be for you?

Mapquest quotes us 21 hours but realistically we are thinking 24 with breaks.

Roger that Wilco. From the professional extender of roadtrips I would gestimate with pottie stops and gas breaks and the always popular no cake, cake shops stops...you better plan an extra few hours.

It is 30 to the keys but we are planning for 127...give or take 3.

We are renting a conversion van BTW - found one that has no mileage fees attached if we book by Jan 31st. :cool1: x-box for the kids and movies and a bed in back for decent sleeping plus more cushy seats will be awesome. It was only $736 for 10 days which was not too bad I thought. Flights were running $450 a piece! :scared1:

Ok - I will update my site tom and write more of the info about the spring break trip! :woohoo:

Driving all night........:sad2: That's not to say I wouldn't do it if it were my only option! It's an adventure, .....eh...sort of! :rotfl:

Hey there Anita!

Yes, I have started my TR...the link is in my siggie. I need to go on today and do another update - work has been busy and so I was MIA for a while but now I am back!! :goodvibes

Awww...Harper in her Pjs in the tub is such an adorable picture!! I love it!!! Oh what fun having all those DIS Meets and yay for a good dinner!!! I'm looking forward to hearing more about the fun that was had!! Sorry Matt and Megan were still sick!

I love that pictures of Harper! Those are some precious footie pajamas!!

Guess what? Sam asked me this morning if I wanted to go for a short trip in October for my 40th birthday!! So we're going October 14-17. :) I'm so excited! I think D23 is having an event that weekend too.

Yay!

I just found your new report a few days ago and now I am all caught up. I read your last report and really enjoyed it. I am sorry to hear about the sickness to begin your trip. I hope that everyone felt better soon. I guess from what I have read so far that you had other problems too. I hope you still had a good time.

We ate at PTC in October and we all loved it, except my 7 year old son. Our waitress was really into her character and told him to sit down and stop whining at the table. (He wanted to sit by someone and ended up being beside someone else, you know how awful that is for a child.) He didn't take her joke very well, and was really upset then. He got over it but was not happy about that meal. The rest of us loved it. I hope he forgets that experience so we can go again.

Oh Anita!!!!!! I just got a sick feeling in my stomach when I read how long it might be for you to drive........I will NEVER complain about our 12.5/13 hour drive again!!!! You are heroes in my eyes!!!!! WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have driven the whole Kansas to Florida thing and its a good chunk of a drive...I think there are about 9 states you go through or something like that LOL!!! Either way I know you'll make the most of it and have fun being together...just don't kill each other LOL!!!!

Yup my 7 hour drive doesn't seem so bad now LOL (Not that I ever complained...because I'm the worst flier ever LOL!!)

Great win for the Jayhawks last night although it was pretty close up until the end...and the other teams that lost last night made it all the more sweet for me....LOL!!!!

A friend of mine said she found flights from OKC to Orlando for $200 round trip. I think it was with Frontier? I'm thinking she said it was a new route that they had just added.

You might want to double check the mapquest directions....we ended up with a 12 hour "short cut" and then it forgot to mention 400 miles worth of pavement across wyoming.

I really like google maps. They've never steered me wrong. They were right on the money for us~~ Knoxville to WDW 10 hours and 10 minutes!
