It was SOOO cold that your nose hairs froze immediately. (sorry, tmi, but true)
We are too, seems like Central Kansas and Western Kansas can get shut down but we are South Central Kansas and have the shield. Although, the windchill are supposed to be -20 tomorrow. That gives me cause for hope...We are also part of that invisible shield. They are already saying we may just get a slushy rain/snow mix. I am suspecting I will not be at the pajama party tomorrow.
![]()
We were supposed to get 2 inches, then it turned to possible ice, now a possible dusting. We here in my part of VA are under that snow shield too. All that snow in VA that Happydog had to drive through and to call what we got a dusting is to exaggerate.![]()
Someone at Marc's school checked and we have a policy that school will be canceled for anything colder than -15. So there is still hope. I'm wearing my fleece Mickey's to bed tonight!Okay well turns out I might be at the pajama party...they are calling for snow here in FLORIDA...really this is why I moved from Alaska...it is so cold here. It felt like 14 yesterday morning so no calling me a pansy people it was COLD!!!! So if it does snow I'm not going to school with all the people who think they know how to drive in Snow in FLORIDA...I'll curl up in my Mickey PJs with you guys!!!
They may be a little gun shy calling another day for you all so soon. Good luck!HA!!!!!
OH I hope we get some too... they keep changing that dang report. We used up three snow days before the holiday though, so it will be pulling teeth for us to get another one now! We have two more days.. I suspect more is on the horizon if not this friday!
Oh my, I saw that it's record cold down there!SNOW in FLORIDA??!! You must be joking??!! Oh my word!![]()
I'll bet that wedding was beautiful! Sorry it wasn't warmer.Snow in Florida?! That's nuts!!
The snowbanks here are almost as high as our car.The kids are lovin' it though!
Takes a LOT to get Minnesotans out of school though, the plows and sand trucks get out before anyone wakes up and they take care of the roads.
It's currently 7 degrees. Suddenly, the 42 degree weather from New Orleans isn't sounding so bad....
Nope, we don't have family there...we went for a wedding, the couple is from California, it was a destination wedding and FANTASTIC! Seriously, awesome wedding. The City was a lot of fun too, even though it was too chilly to enjoy being outdoors for too long - we had left our winter coats here in Minnesota!
Those poor orange growers....I saw a news piece on them. They are telling me the lows with the wind chill on Friday and Saturday are going to be in the single digits...I kid you not the weather report is saying the low on Friday is going to be 6 and the low on Friday is going to be 5...this is not OKAY with me!!
I hope it warms up for our DIS friends that are going soon!Holy cr...I mean cow!!! That's Minnesota weather for sure! It's going to "warm up" to the twenties on Sunday here! I feel bad for those going to WDW this week and not getting the nice FL weather they ordered.
I'm at my desk in my cuddle duds by the way!!!
This is exactly the weather cuddle duds were intended for!I'm thinking of pulling out my cuddle duds too! It's stinkin cold here, we aren't used to this kind of cold either. It's been in the 20s all week and the next couple of days we have highs in the teens - forecasted low for Saturday is 0
Of course, my Minnesota family calls me a wimp when I complain like this....![]()
Did you say you got the bottoms too?I'm at my desk in my cuddle duds today...I had to test them out! I'm wearing one as a long sleeve shirt under a t-shirt to try the layered look!! Going well so far!
Do you think it helps my case at all that we did ride Maelstrom this trip?
And we smiled while we were riding it. I promise.![]()

Yes, the book, the book! You are talking about the book and not the bedroom I assume!![]()
I think most of us are in the deep freeze! So are her dreams going to come true? It's unusually cold here now too. One of the girls I work with is getting married in New Orleans 3/2012. The receptions is going to be at one of the old hotels near the Quarter. My daughter has dreams of getting married at St. Louis Cathedral.
Uh Jordan.....I'm biting my tongue, my teeth are chattering so bad!Just a weather report from sunny Southern California...it was 75 yesterday and sunny.
Rub our noses in it!OUCH! Just go ahead, twist the knife...
It's a deep freeze!Hellooo! Is it a MN convention on the Dis lately! [/quote]
Well, it's too Damm cold to do anything else!!
It's her job!And might I add - You are cracking me up!!!
Please do! We'd welcome your company!England is covered in snow, our schools are shut, can I join the party too?![]()
Hutchinson (Central MN in case you don't know where it is) How about you?
Their wedding was at Our Lady of Guadalupe, a church in the Quarter. Then the jazz band led us down the street to the Royal Sonesta for the reception. Corner of Royal and Bourbon. It was a blast! The Royal Sonesta is a beaaaaaautiful hotel - the reception rooms were stunning!
That sounds wonderful! Do we get to see pictures?
I don't think I could live that far north!![]()
Yes, I know - I am a wimp when it comes to the cold. I am forever thankful that my mom didn't move back to MN when my parents divorced - I'd have never made it!
I would love to live in a warmer climate...I so understand...Joe and I talk OFTEN about moving south. The winters are just annoying here. Blah!
Snow days are always fun, especially when they aren't the norm, I'll be happy for your support. I'm really feeling the need for a day off tomorrow. It hasn't been a very graceful return back to reality for me...Well I doubt I'll get a thanksgiving trip but it's the fall Holiday DH would like to go out for, Christmas is the one time we have all 4 kids without much in the way of scheduling conflicts and as a result, we really like to be at home with all our traditions. We traveled one year and said never again!
It could happen though after the big kids are out of the house...
How long will that be?
WOW you guys!
It's 47 and cloudy here. Not very interesting at all!
We shut down for ice too as it's so hilly and the city is not equipped for it at all. Anything over 2" will do it but sometimes less. Not a single snow day so far though! My boys are DYING for one!
I'll wear my mickey jams in support though!
That's my hope for tomorrow, closing due to the windchill.I just had to share this since we've had all this talk about snow days, etc. I just heard on the radio that Oklahoma City Public Schools are going to close tomorrow and Friday because it's supposed to be really coldSeriously? They are closing because it's cold??? My boys are bummed because we aren't in the OKC school district....
I would think the surrounding districts would follow the larger one, I guess time will tell.In 1996 it was so cold one day in Minnesota the schools closed. I think the record for the state was around -60 in International Falls. Where we were it was around -40. The state literally shut down and they told everyone to stay inside. It was nuts!!
Do you think other school systems will follow OKC? Around here it seems one closes and slowly all those around it close too.
At least our kids were dressed for the weather today. Most were in hats and gloves too.Schools in Alabama also have closed because its going to be cold cold cold!! So I believe it, there is a rumor going around they are considering closing our school on Friday because of the temperature. You would be shocked by what some of my kids were wearing today and it was in the low 30s when they got to school today.
Well, everything SHOULD shut down if it's -40, that's dangerous cold! We are supposed to be in the high teens tomorrow, but with a 30mph north wind. So, it's going to be cold, but cold enough to close schools![]()
I hope our schools don't close. Justin has a basketball tournament that starts tomorrow and he was just released to start playing again from his elbow injury - he will be big time bummed if they cancelled school & therefore the tournament!
Oh I can only imagine. My neighbors son had on short sleeves and no coat this morning. He is routinely outside in the winter without shoes on
![]()
We are going to be colder than that tomorrow and have pretty windy conditions. I guess I'll see if the phone rings in the morning....
One of these days, I'll get an update posted on this thread! Some bright, warm, Kidani pictures! There is too much talk of cold weather on the this here thread! I come here to think about warm weather and sunshine. Post some Kidani pics or some sunshine or something warm Wigd. Please, before I put on another pair on long johns and run for the snuggle!
Agreed!Amen!
You are such a good sport, we could just drag this out a looooooong time!I'm so glad that i was able to give y'all something to chat about!!! It was my plan all a-lllooooooooonnnnnnnggggggggg (roflmao).![]()

I think if you got out a black sharpie you could probably draw some Mickey heads on some jammies. I bet they'd look good too!I would surely love to see 47 right now, for the sake of my heating bill, which will be outrageous next month!
My students did a pretty wild snow dance shortly before dismissal. We'll see what happens.
I think I am the only one without Disney pajamas.![]()
Much better! Thanks Brook! Here we go, this is better:

You never know when the weather could take a turn...I don't have any either MeMom.Of course, based on the latest weather report, I think it is very, very unlikely that I would even be home to need them.
Wishin, and hopin, and thinkin, and prayin.....Isn't the contest supposed to end today? Not to be confused with the infamous contest from the Seinfeld episode.
Not looking like a snow day tomorrow in New England. Hope some of you get to spend the day in your mickey pjs!
You need to refresh me. I'm not remembering that episode and I watched faithfully....LOVE, LOVE, LOVE that episode of Seinfeld. Hilarious.<----good smiley choice, right

Did they break and fall out?I was in Minnesota for that freezing cold winter. It was 50 below with the wind chill. I remember my DH going out to start the car every two hours. They closed the KMart too! Nothing was open. PLUS there was 3 ft of snow on the ground! It was SOOO cold that your nose hairs froze immediately. (sorry, tmi, but true)
Ewwwww, that's just GROSS!
Uh OhAll this talk about snow reminds me of a riddle! How are blizzards and lovemaking alike?
Got it Dan!I guess 400 steps
Oops, I thought we had you down on the official list, I guess Shocker is falling down in his duties.I was told I could change to 88.
Unless 157 is the answer, and then I'll keep that.
Or I could add 1+5+7 and say 13.
But that's unlucky.
And it's already taken.
I could choose my age, which is not taken.
I could pick 1928, which has a Disney connection.
But if you walked 1928 steps, you'd have been at another resort.
Yes, I'll take 88.
Please.

That's two of us.I SOOOOOOOOOOOO don't want to know the punch line on that joke...![]()
Hmmmm, I think your hair must grow quite fast, it didn't look a thing like that last week when we saw you.....In Minnesota we just grow our hair out for the winter then the cold isnt so bad.
Here is my winter Do....

Yay for Maelstrom and possible snow!
Nah, Friday they are saying a few inches it is unlikely we will have another day, but we might get a delay... I have a meeting so I get to sleep in anyhow!!!!![]()
Riddle me this answer:
They both can involve a lot of blowing with white out conditions.
I did not repost the riddle so I better not get sent to Dis Purgatory for just this answer.![]()
