How much did FD save you?

We got back from our 11 day stay at pop and had a awesome time. Can't wait to go back. We booked Bounceback while there for 14 nights. I never really figure what FD is saving us since we always stay at a value. We have also been doing the QSDP.

Fd just the QSDP alone is saving us 1453.00 for 14 nights.:scared1: I know most of our QSDP meals alone came to almost 50.00 depending on what we ordered for 2 adults and 2 disney kids.

We've only been able to take advantage of free dining once in all of our trips to Walt Disney World. IF free dining came out during our 2013 travel dates (May 22nd to June 1st), we would save approximately $1,660.00.

IF we get free dining in 2013 it'll save us 1,500.93 the only other time i've been to wdw, i didn't do any of the planning so i don't know how much it saved me. haveing seen some of the menu prices i'd wager it was a fair amount tho.

$1100 for our upcoming trip

We were paying for it already so it was a welcome discount and saved us an additional $471 over our 35% room discount we booked with for a total savings of 25% off our entire stay

:banana::banana:

I'm a DVC member so NEVER pay attention to the FD offered but we may be going for 5 nights next year the first week of September and stay in a Deluxe or rent DVC points.
IF, we stay in a deluxe the week of Labor Day (and the rest of that week), what kind of discounts can I hopefully expect to have and when would they come out? I have AAA but would buy an Annual Pass if that would save us money.
I always thought the disers on the budget board say FD isn't worth it but maybe that is something else.
The trip next year will just be my mother and me, leaving dh and ds at home and my dd is in college so we will be eating a nice restaurants if this matters.
Can you all please help a FD newbie.
THANKS!

When people talk about FD being worth it, it's usually "Is it worth it compared to a room discount." So, depending on the # and ages of people in your party and which resort you're staying in, a room discount can sometimes come out cheaper than taking the FD promo. The room discount is usually a better deal if you're staying at a more expensive resort.

Thank you. I am looking at the least expensive monorail resort. We just came back last month, going in March (and my mother is also going again in Apirl) and then again next September so we also do not care about view, just the room.

for just 2 people and a deluxe you will probably be better off with a room discount depending on how you eat.

Are you an AP holder? To get free dining you will need to get park tickets with the package to be eligible. And I am not sure if you are allowed to use those tickets to upgrade to a DVC AP (check with the folks on the DVC board).

Since its just the 2 of you, a room discount for a deluxe would probably work out better than free dining. For that time of year, I would guess it would be 30-35% off at a deluxe.

Thank you.
I think we will get the TiW card so that will save us on the food.
Thanks!

It saved us about $1300. There are 6 of us, and I think a room only discount would have been better....not that I'm complaining! I loved saving the $$$!

a % off room discount would save us around $240
free dining (vs. the cost of paying for ddp) saved $715...(and we were ALREADY going to save money by buying the ddp)

we typically spend 1100 for 4 'adults' for about a week, eating mostly cs,etc....so FD for a week will save us well over that, eating TS daily ...plus our cs....plus a snack:goodvibes very happy!

We just got back from WDW. There are 6 of us: me, DH, ds 15, ds 13, dd 11 and dd 9. If we had purchased or meals and snacks oop it would have been $2200! We wouldn't have spent that much without the FD. We would have shared meals and not had snacks and I would have been worrying about how much we were spending! With FD I never had to say no! That was the best part!

There are only 2 of us, and we tallied up the savings to the tune of around $1,100 during the 10 days! We also had plenty of snacks to take home with us; since we hadn't been in a few years, we were excited to see lots of new items that were eligible now.

We always stay at a value resort (even though I debate each time about upgrading - but we are never in the room!), and since it's the off season we don't even bother to upgrade to the preferred rooms since we've always been placed close to the main building and pool area. For less than $90/night on accommodations, free dining is usually the best deal for us over any type of room discount. Plus the food is soooo good!

:thumbsup2

THIS. This is why my DH is adamant we'll pay for the DDP rather than load the $ onto a visa or whatever. I'll freak out or think of better ways to spend the money. no one will be happy then! :O

I'm still REALLY hopng for free dining or a big room discount :)

Since pop's room only discount was only 5% that would have been a total of 50.00. I'm guessing with the Free QSDP we saved around 1100.00 or so this year. Can't wait to head back next year.:)

We were going to be going to POFQ starting October 5th.

We added a extra day since last day of free dining was October 4th (by doing this you get it for the whole trip so thanks dis boards for that:thumbsup2 !!!)

River view was the only level available though.

That being said the stay starting on the 5th with a garden view with dining vs a extra day on the 4th of october with River view gave a us about a $700 savings with everything else staying the same !!!

This is with 4 of us.

Room discounts were not available at the time so might have been similar if a 40% discount code came out but not sure if it would have been at POFQ anyway.

Plus we love the fact that ALL DINING plans include the mug now!!

So bottom line is that Free dining saved us some and gave us a extra day !!:cool1:
