Not your typical TR, but after using AAA and my AP last November 25-29 (that's from the Wednesday before Thanksgiving until the Sunday after), I wanted to report back on what we saved...I've been meaning to post this for months, maybe it will be helpful to someone.

The adventurers consisted of myself and ds12, dh stayed home to watch football ;)

Transportation

We used a car service (which cannot be mentioned on the DIS) roundtrip from the Orlando Airport, which included a free 30-minute grocery stop (plenty of time). The cost was $115, we had saved $5 with an internet coupon.

Royal Pacific Resort Hotel

I started with a AAA discount of 10%, but I called closer to leaving and was able to secure an APH rate of $174 per night for a standard room. I also upgraded at check in to a water view room at no cost, a perk of the Loews First program Blue level. This was a savings of $104 over the four nights. We paid $783.

Food

Undiscounted
$23.83 Publix Supermarket for bananas, water, soda, poptarts, chips, cookies, Lysol

$34.60 Dinner at Jake's at RPR
$22.88 Burger and Nachos, soda and tea at Bula Bar (poolside RPR)

AAA 10% discount

$27.87 Dinner @ Hard Rock Cafe saved $3.00
$25.79 Lunch at Mythos saved $2.69
$15 Thanksgiving Dinner at Burger King Bar (not my idea...) saved. $1.50

Souvenirs -- AAA 10% Savings

IOA magnet .30
Hulk t-shirt .2.19
Spidey magnet .50
Simpsons ornaments 1.79
2 mini tree globes 1.20
2 Tumblers 1.98
Nightshirt 2.70
Pewter cat 1.20

So for this short trip, we saved $104 with the APH hotel rate, and $19.05 with AAA.

I think we actually saved a little more with the AAA -- I didn't save receipts from food carts in the Parks, but we did save 10% on each purchase.

Obviously the more you spend the greater your savings...

This was also obviously before HP, I'm sure I will be very grateful to save 10% on the souvenir purchases on our upcoming trip!

Happy to answer any questions...

Thanks for reading! I really thought I was saving more with the 10%, but I can see where if you have a big expense it could add up quickly!
