Just wondering for those of you who got 10 year loan through Disney and put 10% down to start what your loan payments are per month. Just wondering if I will be able to afford? Also how many points did you buy. Thanks
We are thinking about buying into SSR at 150 point but just wondering if I can afford monthly payments.:goodvibes

Well, I guess I could tell you my monthly payment. But it wouldn't mean anything to you, nor would it help you know what you could afford.

You really need to look at your own budget and decide how much you can afford to pay each month, then decide on your own about the buyin decision.

I looked at what we spent the year before for our 2 trips (1 week and a 4or5 day one). I then broke that down to a monthly number and bought points accordingly including the maint fees.

I ended up with 170 points total and have been fine with that.

We just became members this week. We haven't received our paperwrok yet. But I have done the numbers. We purchased 150 points (min. required until March then it will be 160) for $101 a point (in March this will be going up to $104). So our starting cost was $15150- $1515 (10% down min.)= $13635

$13635- $1500 (promotional discount/ $10 a pt., ending soon)= $12135 + $201 (closing fee) = $12336 to finance

We are financing at 10.75% for 10 years which equals around $155 a month plus yearly MF. We will not take 10 years to pay it off. We were given direction how to make extra payments each month over the phone by credit card.

The best thing is that we received 2006 points to use this year or bank. I see it as we received points that we we not counting on. PLUS we do not have to pay MF on the 2006 points.

I hope this makes sense and helps. :goodvibes

I'm considering an Add-On purchase at SSR of 150 points... I currently have 250 BWV and 150 BCV points... I just paid off my loans (2 of them) 3 and 5 years early... You can pay off the whole thing or some of the prinicpal whenever you want on the website...

This actually helps alot!! I will be same in boat for the 150 points at 10 years and putting 10% down. I know I can afford $150-$200 a month. Is there a certain month that MF are due or can I pay whenever I want by a certain date? Would love to pay every April when we get our tax returns back:banana: Also, at any time can I pay off big chunks of the loan?

Thanks!!

I am planning on putting about 3 to 5K down so that will put my monthly payments under $100...

We purchased at SSR for 160 points, MF are $4.12/pt. so my yearly dues is $659.67/year which is due every Jan if you want to pay it full otherwise you can do monthly. Also yes, you can pay some of your loan when you have extra $$$ anytime online.

MF is due in January. You can pay all at once via check or credit card, or DVC will do a monthly debit from your checking account.
