There is no way that I would be paying $4.25 per day for school lunches. I wouldn't do it for one child...and we have three school aged children.
Our school lunches are prepared at home because it's less expensive and we have a greater measure of control over the quality of food they eat.
One of the best investments I made was the purchase of Thermos food jars! (BTW, Wal Mart's website has food jars ranging in from about $15 to $30) When I am preparing dinner I cook a bit extra with school lunches in mind. Our daughters (including the teenagers) would rather take leftovers for lunch, but will settle for the occasional homemade sandwich. Thanks to the savings realized, the food jars have more than paid for themselves.
