How much are "snacks?"

My husband and I weren't good about keeping track of how much we spent on last years trip, so i am going through and trying to get an estimate of how much we spent by looking at the menu prices now. How much is water and soda? What about the ice creams at the stands? Dole Whips (do they count on the DP?)? What about those chocolate covered mickey pretzels? I think they were around $5 a bag. Can they be bought with DP?

Somehow I don't think the DP is the best option for us, but I am trying to figure it out.

Icecream is around $2.50. MIlkshakes are around $4, pastry type things are around $4. vitamin water is around $3.50 and water is about $2-2.50. I was just on the meal plan last week and if something was $3 or more, i used a snack credit. if it was less, i paid oop. A snack is basically anything under $4.

You also need to remember that as of 2008, snack credits can be used only for single serving items. That bag of Mickey pretzels, depending on its size, could be considered a multiple serving item and be ineligible.

How do you pay oop if you have snack credits? Doesn't it automatically charge you?

I would love to order a cup of soup at some of the CS places but I do not want to use my snack credits. Can I do this and just pay for it? Do I just tell them I want to pay oop for the soup only?

Just don't hand them the card if you are paying cash. Or if you need to charge it to your room, tell them you would like to charge it to your room. I made sure when we were using a credit I told them exactly what we were using and what I would pay for OOP. Never a problem. They want you to spend money so they make it easy.

Whenever we were getting anything in addition to our CS meal that could be mistaken for a snack, we just did a seperate order and paid cash. That didn't happen too often but that's how we made sure no problems with our snack credits happened. We really didn't want a snack credit wasted on anything less than 3.50 or so.
