I am just curious. A few DVC members have asked to buy points for trips they need points for. How is a point valued at. Meaning if someone needs 50 points, what is the value of me selling them 50 points for just the trip they need points for. I would like to know the range of the value. I am considering transfering points to them as a one time sell.

There are a lot of people more qualified on these boards than me - but I've learned a bit!
This is a big hot button issue on these boards!!! The "acceptable" rate according to many is about $10 pp (due to what Disney values them at when working out incentives,,,,, or something?) Some people sell for less, say, if the points have limited use, are about to expire, etc. Some rent for more. I hear tell some are getting $12 to $14 per point, and I've seen some at about $15 on e-bay.
You may want to bop on over to the rental boards and just look around at what people are doing. Good luck!

You could always check and see what the cash rate is through CRO then compare how many points the trip is. Then just divide the cash cost (make sure to add in the tax) by the number of points needed and you will get a value. Then discount it from there.

The standard rate is about $10 per point but its really what ever you can get. If its a sold out time of year and you have a current ressie for sale you can get alot more than just transferring points. For example if you had a villa at either BC or BW during the wine festival reserved and you want to sell it then you could get at least $13 per point on the rent board and probably alot more on Ebay. Ofcourse if you are desperate for the money then you would be fairly secure in the knowledge you could unload your points for $10 each.

They are worth what someone will pay for them (not being smart, just making the point). While $10 pp has been the generic price for a awhile, I think it has moved up a bit overall in the last 6-8 months.

I paid $8.00 per point last month. it was a good deal for both of us.

200 points
