How much are Florida tolls?

How much can we expect to pay for Florida tolls? We will be driving down from the Atlanta area and expect to take the turnpike. Thanks!

The toll on the Turnpike is $2.25 and we go in to WDW off the Western Beltway, which cuts out more than a half hour of traffic off I-4 and the toll on that road is $1.25. It almost cuts our arrival by an hour, because there is no traffic on that road. We drive from Columbus, GA.

If you're staying on property, you definitely want to go the way the PP says - seriously no traffic at all.

The turnpike is actually $2.50 going south from I-75 towards Orlando. Then $1.25 for the road to WDW. And be sure to save your change for the toll home. We've had to scramble from time to time because we didn't set return toll aside and had our cash packed in the back of the car (oops!) Now we have a toll envelope we put in the console before we leave!

Thank you! I don't know where I got the idea that it would have to be a line item in our budget. I'll just stick a few dollars in the car for the trip down (and the return trip!) :)

whoa - novice here - we usually take I 95 down to 4 and then to WDW - are you all saying there's a faster way? Please do fill me in!! Can you tell me when to get off of 95 and what road to take? And someone mentioned coins - is it one of those tolls where you toss the money in a basket (no actual people?)

THANKS!

I don't know exactly how to access that road from I-95. We come down I-75 and exit onto the Florida Turnpike in Ocala. There is what I consider a short cut, because it cuts almost an hour off our trip.

It's called the Daniel Webster Western Beltway and it's exit 267A off the Turnpike. Once you get off the exit, it's about 12 minles to Exit 8 which goes in the back gate by Animal Kingdom and comes in right behind Coronado Springs. That road is known as Western Way.

It wouldn't be faster for you. The toll road, FL 429, is a connector between the Turnpike and I-4. For those of us driving I-75 and the Turnpike, it's a significant shortcut, but you'd have to drive further on I-4 to access it and come back North on 429, so it's not going to be a time-saver for you.

And I'll just put a plug in here for the Florida Sunpass. If you travel to WDW often, it is such a convenience! I bought the Sunpass Mini, which is a sticker I attached to my windshield (so it can only be used with my vehicle). It cost me $4.99 at CVS, then when I activated it online and loaded it with my first payment ($10), I got a $4.99 credit. Using the Sunpass gives you a small discount on the Turnpike toll ($2.00 instead of $2.50) but the biggest bonus to me is not having to wait in line to pay at the toll-booth. We just drive on through the special lane. On FL 429, where you have to exit off to the right to pay at the booth, we just drive on straight, no slowing down or anything. We just love having Sunpass!

There's also a portable Sunpass unit that can be registered to more than one vehicle, but it costs more and I don't think you get a credit back like you do for the Mini.

What bothers me, though about the mini is that there is no guarantee it's going to work 100% of the time and you could get a ticket if it doesn't work.
