Did AKV increase $8 per point effective Jan.15th?

What are the most recent promotions going for AKV????

Thanks very much!:goodvibes

Thanks...gross price rose $8.00 from $104/point...

Is there still either a $8.00 per point credit as there was late summer/fall or is it something like $6.50?

Thanks very much again...:cool1:

I still can't believe they're raising prices in this climate.

Me too! They take their profits where they can and DVC apparently is a profit maker, when they sell the buildings. I am especially surprised from what I read here that they have AKV and BLT priced the same. BLT seems to me to be the more valuable location, this from an AKV owner and lover.:lovestruc

well you know have to buy 200 points at BLT - vs 160 at AKV for a new member.

all add on at BLT will be 100 points - not 25 points.

so although the price increase makes BLT look the better buy - the points you HAVE to buy work it the other way.

Long term profit versus short term sale. Selling low on real estate locks in your profit/loss FOREVER. There is no recouping it. Now selling a hotel room at a lower price for a week rental, is a short term loss in profit.

It makes sense to me.

It's possible (and in fact quite likely) that the economic climate is not affecting folks in all socioeconomic strata in the same way.

So, there may not be a "trickle up" effect of economic hardships? I don't know about that, unless you're talking about the very top of the ladder, and I don't think those people buy DVC!

Did the point price go up to $112 for all resorts bought through Disney as well? (BWV, SSR, etc)

Also would love to know any "deals" or promotions now on AKV and BLT....

But what are the hardships, really? The way I see it, there are two kinds

One kind is the "regular" set of problems. Folks are finding that they cannot easily refinance mortgages to reduce payments or get ready access to credit. If you're the sort of person who doesn't need to refinance (because you didn't try to stretch your home-buying budget with an ARM teaser rate or interest-only balloon), and you have adequate cash flow to cover your needs with some left over, the credit crisis doesn't really effect your life in any way.

The other kind is a lot more serious---losing your job.

Folks who aren't squeezed on their house payment and don't particularly need to borrow still have cash and still take vacations. For the folks who've lost jobs, $8 per point isn't going to matter one way or the other.

You can still buy 160 points at BLT. Guides have confirmed that for many of us this week. In fact one post said their Guide said the 160 is still available and the DP and $5 credit after the 15th. OF course no guarantee on the incentives sticking around, but they did agree that Disney changed their minds on the requirement to buy 200 points for BLT. Thanks Goodness!!
