How many trips to WDW before you bought DVC?

My DW also was smitten - we went in 9-2001

ROFR waiting also - hopefully it will go through in early Oct.

Does my signature say it all? Way too many times!

7 trips to Carribbean Beach resort and one 7 day cruise. We had always dreamed of owning on the property and were finally in a financial position to do so when we bought on our cruise. Although I would have liked to have bought in sooner, I know we couldn't have.

Since then we've been on a 4 day cruise, one trip home with 2 more planned. Buying into DVC is one of the best decisions we've ever made.

Honeymoon 10/1990, no DVC (that I was aware of!0

Family Vacation (Extended) 5/2004

OKW 400pt ressie 8/2004!:Pinkbounc

DH and I are not normally impulsive people, but it must have been the pixie dust because we joined right after our first trip. That was 2 years ago and we're now planning to add on. Just can't get enough of the magic!princesspirate:

OK, SoCalKDG, you can place us in the crazy column!! We bought before we ever went to WDW as a family.

I had been to the MK twice as a child but that was over twenty years ago (Oh My!). I wanted to take the family to WDW but DH isn't the park type. I was looking for a way to make DH happy about going with better accomadations... that led us to DVC.

So far we are very happy with our decision.

aaarrrggghhhh......

But we we're happy to use McDonald's employee discount on All Sports rooms, and was okay until DD came....

Then, all of a sudden, out of room.

But luckily by then we could finally afford to buy in...

Not sure we could have swung the financial committment, because even though it might have been cheaper, we we're scared of time shares, and unemployment.

It was only after staying on Hubby's Father's OKW for 3 years did we take the plunge.

Now, even though we got "in late", I am glad. It's looking even better with as we go.

One, we went in January for 2 nights. Stayed at AKL. I knew I wanted to go back. We had planned a big expensive trip in February. It made more sense to use that more towards something more tangible. We have yet to see SSR, but we love owning a piece of it.

It was my 6th trip, but it was the fact that it was my 3rd one inless than 2 years that clued us in that wdw is where we would be vacationing.

My family and I took several trips (around a dozen or so, although I only keep track of those trips since 12/02 because we used to stay off-site before), but that was before we even knew about DVC. When I finally starting doing research, we purchased sight unseen at OKW (small contract, but it still counts!) and have loved it ever since.

Total trips taken as of Fall 2004
3 DL
30 WDW (includes 1 BRB and 1 DCL)

Total before buying in in 2002
2 DL
18 WDW (includes 1 BRB and 1 DCL)

Total before touring DVC for the first time in 1992
0 DL
6 WDW

It took us three trips to finally take the plunge. At first we weren't sure since we live in Hawaii and it's a long trip, but our 4 year old just loves it!

During our first trip, Jan. '92, we saw signs that said, "Ask me about Disney Vacation Club" so we did. On our last day we were picked up at our hotel (Dolphin) and brought to the Commodore House. We go through the whole tour deal, pixie dust flies across the ceiling, somebody mentions something about free park passes and BINGO - we're in.

DW and I figured that where else would we want to go for the next 10+ years with DS5 and two DDs3. At the time we realized that this was not an investment, it was committing your vacation dollars up front. But looking back over the years this "non-investment" has had better performance than most of the investments I've made. We bought when there was nothing but OKW. Every time we'd get a new Vacation Magic there would be some new perc, benefit or resort made available to us. It's been a great ride with DVC. It's one of the best things we've ever done.

More than we would like to admit, about 6. We were the ones who would run over to the booth when no cms were around then take off when we saw them coming. Finally, one day they caught us and we were hooked. Just wish they had caught us a few years sooner. :)

One. We did cash ressies at VWL last month and loved it. I thought about what we were paying just for the 1BR villa and wondered if DVC might not be a bad option for prepaying future vacations for us and kids, in-laws, etc. After reading up on it as much as possible, and getting some good feedback from the CM manning the Villas lobby, DW agreed we should check it out. Bought at SSR soon after.

threegoofys: Glad to read your story. . .I'm AKA sleepydog555! :wave2:

First trip in 1997 we stayed at the Wilderness Lodge.
Second trip in 1999 again at Wilderness Lodge.
Then late in 1999 they announced the construction of the Villas at Widerness Lodge
So we tried OKW in december of 2000 and purchased then and there:hyper:

Between the excellent service from the staff at both OKW / WL and our enchantment with the WL it was a no-brainer.
We have since added on once at BCV.
Completely satisfied with DVC.
Now when we vacation at other locales in "normal" hotels, we miss all that DVC has to offer.
DVC has really spoiled us.::yes:: ::yes::
