How Many Trips Can I Milk?~A PTR

Ok, I know I said my next post would be about Crocs, but they haven't arrived yet...:sad1:
Instead, I will fill you in on the very important Disney research that I did today. After finishing all of my annoying weekend errands, it was time for a treat. (Like my students, I tend to need outside motivation to help me complete my work.)
My motivation comes in the form of a cold, calorie-laden treat...ice cream!:mickeybar

My diet, the "I'll Start Soon, But Not Today," has been severely compromised by the opening of this temptation:

Yes, I very nerdily took a picture of the store. I can only imagine the thoughts running through the minds of the people in the car next too me. :scared:

Ok, here's how this mission was Disney related:
While perusing the boards, I came across the Official Recipe thread (or something like that). On this thread I read about how you could make a knock-off Dole Whip. Now it's important to note that I've never had a Dole Whip (yet another one of my Disney travesties), but I cannot wait to have one in July. So, I entered the store armed with my Dis thread ice cream instructions.
At Cold Stone, you order your ice cream with any number of ingredients to combine. I didn't personally think my ingredients sounded outrageous or anything, but apparently the high school student creating my knock-off Whip had never had someone order these particular ingredients together. She also evidently was absent from school on the day manners were taught, because she actually MADE FACES as she was creating my knock-off Whip. How rude!

Here's what I ended up with:
DSCN1534.jpg

It's a combination of cheesecake ice cream, white chocolate chips, and pineapple chunks.
OMG! (That's how my students would say it.) It was delicious! Now again, I've never had a Dole Whip, but if this is how they taste, oh Lord, I'm in trouble. So as you can see, once I've gone in July and had the real thing, I must return to Cold Stone and order another one of these beauties---for research and comparison purposes only.

By the way, Botox agreed with the delicious verdict...
DSCN1536.jpg

And no PETA, I didn't actually feed the dog ice cream. The cup was empty.

Here's hoping my Crocs magically arrive soon pixiedust: .

Eunice maybe?

Hey, there was a Eunice at one of the schools I worked at when I was still doing special ed. All the kids called her Eunie. Was kinda cute and unique, I loved it!

Anyway, enjoying the read while I down the coffee this morning.:surfweb:

Glad you enjoyed your research at Cold Stone. I don't like dole whips so I will know to avoid that particular combination. :goodvibes

Loving your report so far. What your sister said in HD was too hilarious. Sounds like you two is going to have a blast in disney. I'm sure you and your Dh will make good use out of those passes this time. Cant wait to read more.

Yes, it's actually pretty sad, but we developed a technique as we were "borrowing" so many. On the side of the display there are little booklets full of Disney room painting ideas. We used one of those booklets to shield our rather large paint chip pile from the view of any sales associates. Clearly no one cared. As I said, we were rather obvious, and nobody even gave us a second look.
The ribbon isn't curling/gift wrap ribbon. It's just regular cloth ribbon that I had left over from making a diaper cake. It worked well just double knotting the strand before I'd put each Mickey head on. I used a small hole punch though. Steal away...Lord knows that's what I've been doing here! :p

Too funny about the booklet. When I was there I picked up one too as if to say, "Oh, look, I really am interested in paint! I'm not just pilfering paint samples to make dangly purse pulls to proclaim my association with an online community of fellow Disney addicts!" Like you said, nobody even paid any attention to me.

I really like the garland idea -- thanks for the instructions. We may even decorate the fireplace mantle with it until it is time to go :).

Love, love, love your Dole Whip research -- they are delicious! I had one for the first time last June and fell in love with it! Anything pineapple is super yummy to me!

I'm in for the ride on this one! Love the PTR! Can't wait to read more! :goodvibes

:lmao:

My daughter Daisy's favorite football team is the Miami Dolphins. Why? Well because of the little dolphin wearing a helmet is so cute.

I forget who said it, but someone funnier than myself said maybe the team would start winning if they just put live dolphins on the field! Hey, they couldn't have gotten much worse...

Hey, there was a Eunice at one of the schools I worked at when I was still doing special ed. All the kids called her Eunie. Was kinda cute and unique, I loved it!

Oh wow, a young Eunice! Think how terrible it would be though---she'd never find anything with her name pre-made on it. No bicycle license plates, pencils, keychains. The horror!
(I know the pain...My mother thought she'd be creative by spelling my name Brittny rather than the correct Brittany. I never got my bicycle license plate... )

Oh, there will be a lot more nonsense! I have MONTHS to fill before this trip! Glad you're aboard. :wave2:

To pass the time while the Oscars are on (since I didn't see NOT ONE of the movies), I thought I'd post my TENTATIVE trip itinerary.

This is actually a revised version. I had something totally different planned until I consulted with a planning website. I'm not exactly sure how I feel about using said site, but if it helps...why not?

ANYWAY, here goes nothing:

Monday- July 21st:
*Leave house early, drive to WDW :drive: , arrive at EPCOT for rope drop
*Stay till 1:00 pm
*Check in @ POP
*Back to EPCOT for dinner and Illuminations

Tuesday- July 22nd:
*Early morning @ HS
*Lunch?
*AK in the afternoon
*Dinner @ AK
*PI?

Wednesday- July 23rd:
*MK @ the crack of dawn
*Maybe renting boat (myce...sp?) for DH as a surprise...He's ALWAYS wanted to do this, and I've always thought it was a bad idea. Neither of us has ever driven a boat. I'm feeling I may cave for this trip.
*Dinner @ MK or Poly
*Wishes & Spectromagic

Thursday- July 24th:
*AK for EE
*Back to POP for the pool?
*HS for dinner & Fantasmic

Friday- July 25th:
*Sleep in finally!
*Check out of POP
*Downtown Disney for shopping & Goofy's Candy Co.
*Drive home :sad1:

Still trying to get DH to commit for ADRs. I know, I know, they'll probably all be gone by the time we agree on something. Problem is, with his work schedule, he works nights. I work days. We are like two ships...
My plan is to pin him down tomorrow on his day off and force him to commit. I don't want to be eating a 4 day's worth of burgers and fries. (Not that there's anything wrong with that.)

Ok...still waiting on the Crocs...

:confused3 :rotfl2: I went to quote your last post and you had edited it while I was reading it, so I couldn't quote what I wanted to.

What I wanted to say was I think the random name thing is a little creepy too!

LOL! And here I have such a different perspective on names. I was one of the most popular names of the year for the year I was born. So much so, that when I was in choir, the director would say "A, you're flat!" And we'd all look around trying to figure out which one of us he was talking to... there's was 29 of us, just in the soprano's section, and all of us first sopranos was one of that name, but one. :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: I'm all about the unique names now.

Did you get your Crocs? Did you get your Crocs? :hyper: :hyper: :hyper:

BTW, like your trip itinerary -- sounds like you are going to have an absolute blast!

:rotfl2: I am such a nerd! As soon as I posted that and logged off stagemomx3 ;) , I had visions of being banned from the Dis. So, I came back to edit my post, and who do you think was staring right down at me? I took it as a sign! :lmao: Like I said, a nerd...

Speaking of names, I LOVE the title of your PTR! I married a common name---Mike. You can't get more normal than that! Darn him---he probably always had a bicycle license plate.

YES! YES! YES! I am trying to post right now. :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

I never thought I'd see the day when I would be EXCITED to receive rather ugly footwear. That day was today.

You see, since I'm planning on going all out this trip, I need some shoes that can go the distance. Sneakers in July are simply WAY too hot, and I have had 2 very bad flip flop experiences at WDW.

I've already written about the first bad one---where I slipped on the wet stairs at POR and rode the whole way down on my backside. OUCH! (The other funny part about that story is we were on our way out of the room for good, and had left the keys/cards inside. We didn't figure we'd need them anymore, right? After my stair tumble, I got up, and my WHOLE backside was soaking wet, and of course, now we had no way back into the room to blow-dry my shorts. We could have asked for another key I suppose, but really, the humiliation factor was already rather high without adding that embarrassment. Also, had I been a Dis'er at the time, I would have probably known to go find the laundry room and use their dryer, but alas, no knowledge of any of that had I.)

My second bad flip flop experience occurred during the AKL stay. (You know, the one where we had a savannah room and took NO PICTURES!:sad2: ) DH and I had been at the parks all day, and had come back to the room for a few minutes before deciding to check out the CL---which we had complimentary access to! I had only rested my legs for about 5 minutes, but when I tried to stand to go walk to the CL, I couldn't do it. I literally could not take a step. Whatever strange and normally unused muscles in my legs I'd used that day were staging a revolt. Now, wouldn't the sensible thing to do be to stay in the room and call it a night? Sure, but I didn't want to. I had visions of CL delectable morsels dancing through my mind, and I did not trust DH to select the best items to bring back to the room for me.

So, I made the executive decision to have DH CARRY me to the CL!!! I mean full on piggy back. The thing that makes this story even funnier is that at check-in, the CM had given us a room "far away from everything" since we'd just gotten married the weekend before. This ended up being one looooong piggy back ride. Needless to say, DH made fun of me the whole time, and then I had to listen to him lecture about me not wearing the right footwear :upsidedow .

Clearly, this girl's gotta have some Crocs!
After scouring the internet for days, I found what I consider to be a relatively cute pair. They took forever to arrive, but when I came home from work today, there was a box waiting at the front door! :thumbsup2 After marveling at the light weight of the box, here's what I pulled out. Let me know what you think:
DSCN1540.jpg

Please ignore the white dog hair on my black pants. That's a losing battle that I fight daily. :crazy2:
DSCN1541.jpg

I didn't want to choose a bright color because I wanted them to match with everything. (:rotfl: I'm worried about matching my cute outfits with my ugly shoes!) After seeing how light they are in person, I'm VERY worried about how dirty they'll be after a day at the parks. I'm assuming since their 'plasticky' that you can just wipe them down? Any Crocs expertise would be appreciated.

I didn't just leave well-enough alone, I wanted my Crocs to stand out, and I wanted them to 'advertise' my favorite character. So, I ordered these too:
DSCN1546.jpg

Tink jibbetz! Isn't she cute? I am very worried about my present mental state after these two purchases. I mean, who takes the Crocs plunge and then immediately ratchets up the nerd factor by jibbetzing them?
But, they're just so hard to resist..........
DSCN1549.jpg

Now, you may be wondering, if BrittBritt likes Tink so much, why isn't Tink in her avatar? I think this picture might help with that explanation.
DSCN1528.jpg

Miss Botox sure seems to have a lot in common with a certain melancholy, tail-losing donkey. She's my very own Eeyore! :eeyore:
I will try to resist including a picture of her in every post----I've just now realized I've been doing that---but she's just so darn pitiful looking!

Side note: I can never show this site nor my new Crocs to my DMIL. I made TREMENDOUS fun of her for her Crocs, and I don't think I could handle her retaliation should she ever discover I now own a pair!

Up next: Do you actually wear these out in public?

You got the Mary Janes! I have been lusting after the chocolate Minnie Janes for a couple of weeks now. I can't seem to get up the nerve to buy them -- I want them with their little Mickey heads and I want Disney Jibbitz to go in them. See, you aren't the only nerd in the group! You're just braver!

I am still laughing about the matching outfits bit :rotfl: !

Don't stop including Miss Botox -- she's the mascot of your thread now! The looks she gives during the posts are priceless!

You summed up my feelings for crocs very nicely! I haven't been able to part with the 30 bucks for ugly plastic shoes. I just don't see how they can be that comfortable.

I got some for 3 of my kids before our trip last year and they loved them. It's all they would wear for 6 months. I had a hard time getting the boys to wear cleats for soccer!

BrittBritt,

Did you lose your power today along with the 3 million other people in central and southern Florida? I thought about you today when I read that and hoped that you weren't at work with all those middle schoolers without power. I know ours tend to be "overdramatic" when the lights flicker!!!

We never lost power at the school---although we might have been running on some kind of generator, and I would have been none the wiser. When I got home though, we'd been without power most of the day, as it was HOT in the house and everything was blinking. Can you believe it was almost 90 degrees here today? :scared1:
My kids go nuts when they hear thunder. We live in South Florida! Thunder is a usual afternoon sound, but without fail they scream and then have to stare out the windows for the afternoon watching the rain. (Anything to get out of having to do real work!)
I do have a funny teacher moment from today... I'm walking with my kids back from the cafeteria after lunch, and I see one of my boys flicking something around, hitting other students, and just generally being annoying. As I got closer to him, I saw that he had a masquerade-type mask that had been torn in two right at the nose. He was holding one eye part in one hand and using the elastic band to stretch and smack people around him with the other eye part. (BOYS! :headache: ) When I asked him what he was doing with that deadly weapon ;) , he replied without missing a beat, "This is my weapon of MASK destruction." :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: Are you serious? What could I even say to that? I didn't even take the mask away, because I figured a child that clever deserves to whip plastic masks around in the hallway...That was my day in the 6th grade today, and that is why I need a Disney vacation.
(I added that part in at the end so no one could say this post isn't Disney related! :goodvibes )
Thanks for your thoughts!
