How many times?

I go at least once a year solo. There have been a couple of times that I went solo twice in the year, but that usually isn't by design. My family has tended to be unreliable about actually coming when they say they will....

I spend a week alone and I have to say it is a completely different experience than when you are trying to take others into consideration. I think I could get to be REAL selfish if I tried.... :rotfl2:

I am going solo in just a few days for a week, and then in Jan. I have two weeks booked. One will more than likely be solo, if not both.

The only thing I don't care for is dining alone. How do you all handle that part?

As far as the dining alone, I often bring a little 59 cent notebook with me and spend the time writing down where I've been, what I've eaten, what I think, etc. like for a trip report. Oh, yeah-just don't forget a pen! The first time I thought I'd be so smart and do this, I sat there without a pen and too embarrassed to ask anyone for one. But when I get home, I tuck this with the other souveniers/maps, etc. I love to go back and read them later. Others have reported they bring a book. Right now I'm addicted to doing those Sudoku puzzles, so I have a little Sudolu paperback that goes with me everywhere.

Excellent suggestion! :thumbsup2 I always wish I had done some kind of journal to reread for the memories. I somehow think I won't forget everything, but I do.

When our kids were small, DH always wrote down a review of the days activities and occurances. It was so much fun to come across those and reread them years later. He would write on just about anything, so we have an unusual collection of notes. :lmao:

Hello!

Just wanted to find out from the adult groups and solos, how many times a year do you visit Disney? For how long each time?

I have never gone solo but am seriously considering it even though DH wouldn't like it too much - would worry excessively about me! My DH (can't believe people go this often and definitely has fun but isn't the fanatic!) and I (Disney fanatic, never stops talking about it!).

I have always wanted to go at October, November or December but due to DHs work we have never been able to go. His work blacks out that time and no one can take any time off including the store manager (DH). Retail can suck! Anyway, just wanted to know how many times you all go!

Hi!
My dh & I went together to WDW for the first time in May '06 (to celebrate our 15th anniversary). We became DVC members during that trip too! (Dh is definitely hooked, even though I'm the Disney fanatic). The May '06 trip we only stayed a week. We found that to be not enough time! :teeth:

Since then we are planning two more trips. One for December '06 (for 8 nights) and May '07 (for 12 nights).

I've been to Disney 3 other times (without my DH). My first time was with my folks and we went in July. I remember it was way too hot and it rained for about an hour every afternoon. The other two times were May and November. May (in my opinion) is a good time to go (if you go early May) - the weather is great (warm, not hot) and the crowds aren't very much. My trip in November was also nice. The weather was nice (a couple of days it was around 62 degrees and the "natives" were like "it's freezing" and my friends and I were wearing shorts and a sweatshirt and were saying, "I could get used to this kind of weather!") :rotfl2:

This December will be our first trip in December so I hope it'll be great weather.

PS: I agree with you regarding retail sucks! DH & I both did our "stint" of working retail and it does suck! :thumbsup2

As you can see from my sig, I'm shooting for three times next year (Mar, Aug, Dec). I went once this year and the 13 months between that and my next trip are too much :) . Most of mine will be 4-7 days, but that's just because that's what works between school and work, if I could do longer at a time, I would.

As of right now my trip in March is likely going to include DMom and DDad, but the other two will likely be solo. As much fun as it is to go w/ others, I like to do my own thing at my own time which doesn't get to happen when travelling w/ others. I tend to do everything on my own as is, so eating alone and being on my own feels natural to me.

I'm excited to go in Dec because I love Christmastime and can't wait to see WDW

DH and I typically go in May and October, with a long trip (usually 8 days) in October and a shorter 4 or 5 day trip in May. However, we just added on to our DVC purchase with points at Boardwalk Villas, so I see longer May trips in our future! :teeth:
