How many times have you added-on and did you regret it?

We started with a 100 points @ SSR through TSS in Sept 2005 and added on 120 points in Dec 2005 (split into 60 points contracts).

Our first purchase was 150 points at HH via Disney. Since that time we've added another 150 points at HH and 40 at OKW through Disney and also purchased a 160 OKW contract via resale. So with 500 points I think we're done for now.

8 add-ons and 2 resales for us. No regrets...for that matter we couldn't be happier with our decision to buy way back in 1995. Although we don't see any more add-ons (too pricey directly from Disney) we are always looking another resale or two from TTS.

We've added on, and on and on. We have 6 add ons, 550 points in 3 resorts, BWV, VWL and VB. At the present time, our '07 point total is only about 200, we've been borrowing like crazy.

We bought DVC for us, we are empty nesters, and don't care about the extra years SSR has to offer. However, "for us" means that we like to enjoy whatever years we can with family and friends in this truly Magical Place. That's the reason for the add ons. Our DS and DDiL have decided that they are ready to travel to Florida with us, and so, we'll have 4 generations with us at VWL in August, that's worth every dollar DVC has cost us.

I think we're finished adding on. There are other places we will be going to with family. We are happy that we did the add ons the way we did, we have smaller contracts (25) and the largest is BWV 200, so selling them can be done in stages if that ever is necessary.

We've purchased 4 resales through the Timeshare Store after our initial purchase through Disney. They are excellent. I don't regret the decision(s) to buy, we've taken some excellent vacations, however I feel I overbought based on emotion and now have more points than I can use at WDW resorts and am considering whether or not to part with a contract or two. My advice to folks... only purchase what you will use.

Thanks everyone, not many regrets that's for sure. I guess my apprehension comes from the changing dynamics of my family. My oldest DD will be going to Un. of Illinois this fall and my youngest DD will be a sophomore. But I don't really see my oldest DD ever turning down a trip to the World and my youngest DD seems to be more into going than she ever has been. Boy, some of you are add-on junkies :teeth: I thought I was bad, this will be my 3rd since 1998. I feel better about adding on now, I appreciate all your feedback.

Thank you Tony. DMom who is 86, is a hard core Disney Fan! This past December she spend her first nights at VWL, and she absolutely loved it. She had been a BW/GF fanatic, I guess she still is, we always have to go to the GF to listen to the music playing in that lobby with her.

We purchased BWV in 2000 for "our" base amount of points (185), meaning what we would need (rounded up a bit :earsgirl: ) for the vacation week/accomodation size we would use the most - which would use 171 points. Then I added on 25 points when BW points came available again. This + the extra 14 allows for a 3 night trip in the fall, but...I paid $89 a point for those 25! My original contract was for way less. We only add on for what we know we'll need, and so far haven't needed more points than what we've got.

Adding on is expensive because price per point has increased, and I think I'd be hard pressed to add on again, especially with the renting points from another member option. If we did want to take an extra trip during the year from time to time, I would definitely look into the rent option first before deciding I need to own more points (and pay more maintenance fees).

My two cents (and it's just MTC), is to take a good look at how many points you actually need to own for the trips you definitely will do each year before you add on more, you may not need as many as you want :earsgirl:

I certainly "want" more than I need! Good luck in your decision and enjoy every trip you take to the World!

That's a really good point regarding renting points. They are an excellent deal and I can't imagine renting my points out, they are worth way more than $10 each to me. Another good point is to think about what I think I can use, and actually I think I could use a whole lot more than I have. And thank you for the good wishes.

I feel much better about adding on and look forward to my next purchase, almost as much as my first.

We purchased 230 points in May of 2000 at the BWV. In November of 2000, we added on 70 points at the BWV. In March 2002 we bought 100 points at the BCV. In April of 2003 we added on another 100 at the BWV. Currently we just completed another puchase of 100 points as Disney had some BWV points. We are actually thinking of selling the 100 points at the BCV. I prefer having them all at the same resort. Nothing at all against the BCV. It just happens that are favorite is the BWV, followed by OKW and I would say the BCV comes in at 3rd. We have never regretted any of our purchases.

That's funny my first purchase was 230 at BWV in 1998. I bought 200 at BCV in 2002 and now in 2006 I'm going to buy 150 at SSR. I guess I get a serious bug every 4 years. I too am giving serious consideration to selling or trading my BCV points for BWV.

The bug is certainly contagious. I remember when we bought our first 230 points and I thought that was all we would ever need. That statement is probably still true, however need and want are two different things!

We started with 150 pts Vero and bought an additional 100 at SSR during Grand Opening. Now we have 250 pts and still " I WANT MORE!!". DH and I take 2 -3 WDW trips a year. Last year, we started to bring guests (my Mom) and this year will be (his Mom). More points would bring more trips, bigger rooms and bring more guests.

DH won't let me buy more points until I finish paying these two contracts or can pay "cash" for next one. As the saying goes, "A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes". I WILL make mine come true, even if I buy 25 more pts at a time. I would like to have another 100 - 150 pts. This could take awhile.

I have NEVER been sorry to have purchased at DVC, only sorry I never did it earlier.

We joined in 2000 at BWV with 170 pts. We added 100 at Vero, another 50 at BWV and just added 120 at SSR. We have 440 pts and will probably add more eventually. No regrets- best thing we ever did!

We sort of did regret hasty addons. We did 4 addons over a 2 year period and then found out we had more points than our vacation schedules would allow us to use. And though we enjoy WDW, there are other places we like to vacation at as well. After just "blowing" points for a couple of years on accomodations we didn't really need, but booked anyway just to get rid of the points, we've pared down our points holdings to a more reasonable level. On the bright side, we did make money selling the contracts we decided we didn't need.

Original contract was 150 points which was nowhere near enough for the four of us. Added on in December 250 points at SSR and absolutely no regrets. Now we have so many more points to play with and this is enabling us to do a 2 bed at WLV in May, a week in Marriott Aruba October, and a week in a one bed SSR in October.

I can definitely see us adding a few more points in the next couple of years. Wouldn't mind a few at HHI so we could go every three years.
