Once a week, they go in the laundry. But, I live where it's pretty dry (especially in the winter). Towels can be hung to dry quite nicely. In more humid areas, I'd probably wash them way more often. I've never understood the philosophy of washing terribly often because they are used on my clean body. Shrug.
Guilty as charged . DS and I are both kinda slobby in some ways; our towels typically get tossed on the bathroom floor and then put in the hamper. We launder them once a week or so, since we have lots of towels. DH, on the other hand, hangs his up on the towel rod after each use and will go for days without needing a new one.
Meh, all depends. I use a body towel and a smaller hair towel. I usually have 2-3 sets rotating (hanging on both the back of my bedroom and bathroom door) at any given time and each set probably gets used about 3-5 times before getting washed.
I don't think I've ever re-used a towel except for at hotels when we skip housekeeping (which is pretty much always) and can't flag down a housekeeper to exchange for new ones. Sheets get washed every 1-2 weeks, but towels and washcloths get washed after one use. Downy Unstoppables are even making it hard to wait very long in between sheet washings now. While the scent lasts several weeks, it starts to taper off and I start craving the smell in a really bad way. It helps me sleep!
A couple times and then I'll pull a new one for my body and use the other for my hair a couple times. I'm drying my clean body and then its getting hung up as soon as I am done drying. If for some reason it ends up anywhere but hung up (usually my husband or child) then I'll wash it sooner. I specifically bought us color coordinated towels so we know for sure who's towels are where.... LOL Guest towels are washed as soon as they are used.
There are 2 sets of bath towels per person hanging in our bathroom. They get washed weekly. So every three and a half uses. The hand towels are more like every other day.
We each put our towels in the wash whenever we feel like they need it - which is probably once a week, a little more when it's humid. But I need fresh washcloths every time! It drives me nuts in hotels when there aren't enough.
