I know I'll get slammed for this, but here goes.
I'm a secretary. I answer phones all day. Can I tell you how many wives call 5, 6, 7, 8 times a day? I know it's not my business and if there's something going on fine, but your husband works for a living. So let him. When I tell you he's in a meeting don't say "Oh, I'll call him on his cell." I just told you he's in a meeting. Or if he tells you he'll be out at a meeting until 3, don't start calling at 1 because you thought he might be back early. I deal with spouses (both wives and husbands/SOs) all day and 95% of them are fine. They even acknowledge me when they call and vice versa. Or they have a set time the usually call each day. However, the other 5% call repeatedly and act like they've never spoken to you before. And then they call back 15 minutes later. "Oh, did he get back yet? No, okay no message, I'll call again." Great, thanks, looking forward to it.

His brother-in-law, on the other hand, calls and bothers him several times a day. He's the type that needs the cell phone glued to his ear all day.
DH won't say anything to him about it because they do work together. It bugs the heck out of him though.
Again, most spouses are wonderful, but there are the exceptions to the rule. They feel the need to tell their hubby (in this case) that they went to the park, had a snack, are back at the house, what would you like for dinner, will you be home for dinner, will you be home to put the children to bed... If you need to tell your spouse about every last thing going on with your day, you either need to work together or set up an internet camera.
