How many tents on a tent site?

Yes I'm asking a question that I know the answer to but please humor me. I haven't been to the Fort camping since 1977 and back then the sites seemed to be huge and have 6 feet of jungle between them.

Today they look like they are really packed in. Also I'm used to PA state parks where your neighbor is 40' away.

I'm planing a last week of February camping trip maybe with another couple.

I'm pretty sure you can have at least two tents, but is it feasible? It would be two 4-6 person size tents and a 12' square dining canopy. The dining canopy is not an Easy Up but an old school 4 poles at the corners, one in the middle and two ropes in each corner.

Also only one car so no issues there.

Sure, it's feasible. The biggest sand pads for tents are the Partials (with pads in 2000 being bigger than those in 1500). The Fulls/Preferred have smaller pads which would probably work too.

I did a thread earlier this year about tents fitting on pads. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2901476 It was mostly geared to the Partials but I did get a few Full/Preferred and a Premium for good measure.

Once you know the exact size of the two tents you can figure it out. The drives in Partial/Full/Preferred are 12' wide so your canopy might go over the end of the drive and the car will still fit.

If you are in doubt, go with the 2000 loop.

Late February is nice weather wise. It's still crisp in the mornings, not too rainy yet, and the sun feels warm during the day. And the spring break crowds haven't shown up yet. President's Day weekend gets a bump on crowds because of the 3 day weekend. Otherwise it's pretty nice.

I have been there twice at this time. The first time it was hot and I only brought one pair of shorts. The second it was cold in the first morning and it only got colder. With a cold rainy day at Epcot.

The last day all the CM's were in coats, hats and gloves.

Of course in tent camping its always easier to heat up than cool down.

Ok while I see that the tents should stay on the pad, does my canopy have to stay on the pad? Its foot print is around 16 by 16 with the ropes.

Ok just to be clear. Officially* I have to have all my "tents" and or my car either on the sand pad or on the drive.

If thats the case what about ropes? Can they only be in the sand or can they be driven into the grass?

As for what site, this trip is in the pre-early semi-fantasy stages, the least expensive would be better. So far without trying I'm getting $80 a night for a tent site which I guess is a partial and that's quite a bit of sticker shock when I'm used to paying $15.

* I have followed a few parking off the pad threads so I know the story. But they it sounds I can't even walk on my "own" grass.

No one is going to fuss about the placement of your ropes as long as they are in your campsite and not tripping a neighbor. You can go legally to the mid point between the sites.

I see what you are up against. 2013 rates are $48 weekday for a Partial during the Value season that is most of Jan and Feb up through 2/13. Then it jacks up to $80 per weekday starting 2/14 through end of March then the HIGHER Easter rates kick in. Oh joy!

Can you swing February earlier than 2/14? Or later in the fall rates are down in September and October even into November. It's just that Spring is El Primo camping time after being cooped up all winter. (I'm not going to suggest tent camping during the summer months unless you are totally committed! )

Well this trip is to coincide with a high school band trip. The weird part is that or kids are no longer in this band. They and we graduated out. It all started with kind of a joke that we would go on this trip enjoy WDW without having to watch other peoples kids.

But when did late Feb mean spring at a campground. Even in the south.
