How many suitcases do YOU bring?

The longest my husband and I have stayed so far is 11 nights. We usually pack 1 large rolling suitcase(mine), 1 medium rolling suitcase(his), 1 folded up duffle bag for the return trip inside one of the suitcases, and we each have a carryon bag with a change of clothes and sleepwear in case our luggage gets lost or takes forever to get delivered to the room.

We'll be heading for our honeymoon friday and I've packed 3 suitcases already. Normally, I barely pack enough, but this trip I'm prepared for anything!! And for anything from very dressy to lounging around at the pool clothes. Also, 1 suitcase is full of snacks for me because I get irritable when very hungry!! So DH gets 1 large suitcase (that I plan to use to put toiletries in ) and I get 1 hanging case and 1 large case plus 1 med. case for food...hmmm...

For a week or less my husband and I each take a carry on only. And not one of those big ones that barely fit, but one that is smaller than the airline states we can have. In the past my luggage has traveled more places than I have so if at all possible we travel very light so we don't have to check the luggage that is going to travel to Indonesia while I'm on my way to Texas (It happened). Most of the on-site resorts have laundry facilities by the pools and "unmentionables" can be washed out in the sink. If If I ever went for longer than a week I would have to re-think this. Of course this last time we went down we found out we could ship our luggage via UPS ahead of time and that worked out really well because we shipped food and coffee/filters etc. and we may be doing that more often too if we get to travel again in the future.

last yr df and I went in dec and overpacked...well I did at least...he might not have. We had two large suitcases, a medium suitcase and a duffle bag we brought back filled with souvies. We decided this yr we aren't taking all the extra crap. We'll take one hoodie and if we need anymore longsleeves then we'll buy while we are there. That is what disney is for right? We are still going to take the extra suitcase and duffle though to fill with souvies we leave in 17 days I can't wait!

We drive to WDW so we bring 4 suitcases medium size (1 per person), 1 empty duffle bag for souveniers plus our small bathroom bag.

We usually stay for 4 days and have clothes left over but I'd rather overpack than do laundry on a short trip!

For 12 days, I'd still bring one suitcase per person but just plan on doing laundry.

A flying hint - mix and match the clothes in the suitcases so each person has several outfits in each suitcase. That way if one goes missing, you'll still have clothes for everyone. (I had it happen once heading to MN - the suitcase was found by the airline and delivered 2 days after we got there.)

When we fly, we have 1 suitcase per person and 3 small carryons. One of them has stuff for the kids to do - one has one outfit for each of us just in case - final one has the laptop.

Hmmmm - I think I need to learn to pack less.

I take 1 large suitcase for myself (most of my trips are solo trips). It works out perfectly.

what is the luggage standard these days? 50 pounds per bag and 2 bags per ticketed person?

Hm - I don't think I've ever had a vacation where I've packed more than a large-ish suitcase and a small carry-on per adult (not counting camping where I have a lot of gear). But then, I tend to be pretty casual while on vacations, so not much (if anything) that needs to hang up, for instance. And if I plan to be gone more than a week, then I'll do laundry. This trip will be one of the tougher ones for packing light, since it will be January, and I need to pack layers. And with small kids, I can't assume that I'll be able to wear anything more than once! I also don't tend to do much shopping on vacations, either - but I may bring a small duffle in a suitcase, just in case.

But, I am definitely happy not to have to pack diapers for this trip - wahoo! (First diaperless trip in 6 years!) No baby gear, really - just a few toys.

Between the 4 of us, we each take one rolling suitcase and I bring on one carryone (total) to carry all of our airplane stuff (ipods, dvd players, magazines etc. We always have plenty of room

DF is bringing 1, I am bringing 2, we each have 1 carry-on, i have a pocketbook, and DF has a laptop bag

When we go we all take 1 checked bag and a small carry on. i also pack an empty bag in mine for souviners.

We take one med sized duffel bag per person and one carry on for all of us.

Go to MGM and go see the muppets. When you see Ms. Piggy's luggage you have an idea what my mom and I pack.

No seriously, last trip for 9 days we packed: 1 LARGE duffel, 2 large suitcases (the kind in the sets), 2 med suitcases, and 1 small suitcase. There was also 2 carryons on the way down and 4 on the way back (called them our purses ). We also shipped down 1 LARGE bax and sent back this box with one other. We did do our christmas shopping down there! But we still overpacked.

I took a picute of our stuff when we got to our room that night and another of Ms. Piggy's and put the pictures together in our scrap book.
