Hi

My parents are in their 70s and they have asked me to request a top floor room for our stay at OKW. Does anybody know how many steps there are up to the top floors?

Many thanks

I like the top floor, too. Not sure exactly how many steps but the first floor units are really first floor (i.e. NO steps) so it is probably about 30 steps to get to the third floor. The stairs have landings so it is not a steep climb up, obviously. You could always try for the few buildings at OKW with elevators if you expect the steps might be tricky for your parents.

Many thanks, that's not half as many steps as I thought. Think we can all managed that.

1) Bunches and bunches and bunches of steps.
2) Especially with luiggage.
3) Better than using a Stair Master.
4) Exactly . . .
. . . two flights from 1st floor to 2nd floor at 14 steps each = 28 steps
. . . two flights from 2nd floor to 3rd floor at 14 steps each = 28 steps
. . . total steps to 3rd floor = 56 steps

NOTE:
If they have problems with steps, ask for Bldg 62, 63, or 64.
They are the ONLY buildings with elevators.

The number of steps at OKW is 9 per between each landing (inbetween floors); so 36 total to the third floor. I know because my dear departed FIL used to count them every time he had to climb them.

Yes, I believe it is 9 per landing, so 18 per floor. That's why they are easy to do....the rise is low, so even someone with bad knees (like DH) can do it with ease.

The problem with steps - for us - was not so much the luggage, but having to do steps after a full day of walking around the parks. It was kind of the icing on the cake, so to speak, and we're very able walkers. It also really bites if you've got a stroller to lift.

A little side note here-the top floor is not always the third floor. You can get a unit with no one above you on the second floor. The steps at OKW are easy to handle with a landing half way between floors. I ask for the top floor all the time and have been know to get the second floor with no one above me. Just an added thought.

We're in a 1BR on the third floor of Building 62 right now. As OKW Lover and Diane already stated, there are nine steps between landings and two landings per floor - so it's 18 steps to the second floor (many buildings are only two floors) and 36 to the third floor.

62, 63 and 64 all have elevators (the only buildings so equipped). In addition, the Bell Staff would be happy to assist with luggage to your villa at arrival and departure.

Illuminations is just starting! :)

Wasn't there recently a question about the willingness of bell staff to bring luggage to the rooms, and then carry luggage up?

Bobbi :confused3

I can vouch the Bell Staff at OKW is MORE than eager to assist guests with luggage ! I don't think they get much business. Most guests just drive over to their villa and unload themselves. But you can leave all your luggage with the Bell staff.....drive over and get into your room....they will deliver your bags in a timely manner. They can even store food items if your room isn't ready. Same goes for checkout. Call Bell Staff on your phone and they will come and take down all your luggage. I am asked most times upon check-in if I need Bell service. But if you're not offered it, just ask them. There is no reason anyone has to lug suitcases up 3 flights.
