How many spouses = too much

I have a sister on her 4th husband, a brother on his 2nd wife and another sister who is twice divorced and now prefers the company of women.

Divorce is hard but it is better than staying in a bad marriage.

My sister on her 4th husband told me that the reason she got married so many times was because she makes such a beautiful bride! :rotfl:

The formula for success............love each other and are willing to do that work. I heard someone say "there are not perfect marriages but there are happy marriages."
Thank you! :)

Hmm...interesting thread. I have been married twice and on my way to my second divorce. Should I give up on the thought of ever being happily married? I don't know if I'll ever get married again, but I'm only 33. :confused3

You and me both Mich :confused3

Then there is divorce. It takes two to tango.

My dad always said if you try to make each other happy and are willing to compromise (both) you will do OK. I guess he was right. Have been married for 35 years now and the wife says I am happy. (finally learned to always agree, ah, those two magic words...yes dear :rolleyes1).

I come from a small town. In that town lived a man who could not read or write and had a low paying job. He always said he was the richest, happiest man alive. Some years later I ran into him and he informed me he was now poor and sad. His wife died. Their treasure was each other. They were married a long time.

DH's brothers have all been married numerous times. One has been married 2 times but has been living with his significant other for 20 years now. One has been married 4 times and the other has been married 5 times. DH has only been married once (to me) and we have been married 21 years. Go figure. :rotfl2:

I once worked with a girl who was 24 and divorced three times, pregnant and living with a guy who was not the baby's father. By the time the kid was one she had married yet another guy and was angry at her mom for not attending the ceremony. I lost track of her after that, but she still makes me shake my head in disbelief.

I used to think 1 until I married an abusive, cheating jerk.
Some people lose more than one spouse by outliving them.
My MIL is on marriage #4. If he died (and he is older) there would probably be a #5. I dont think there is a single number that applies to every person.
