How Many Shoes?

I'm getting ready to go on our 7 day cruise in a couple of weeks. I'd like suggestions on how to pack all these shoes. (Family of 3 adult sized shoes.)

I suggest you spread them out-don't put them all in one suitcase.

Also, don't waste the space in shoes-they're great for rolled up socks, underwear-etc.

For our 3-night cruise we'll be bringing:
Me: one pair of sneakers, one pair of black slides, one pair of flipflops
BF: one pair of sneakers, one pair of dress shoes, one pair of flipflips
DS: one pair of sneakers, one pair of dress shoes, one pair of water shoes (of course, they're all size 14, so they'll take up the most room!).

I'd imagine we'd take the same for a longer cruise.

I can't be bothered with shoes.

DVCREG, I need to get one of those shoe things from IKEA too!!! How many shoes are you taking on the May Repo cruise???

14 days is a long time for myself and DD. I think between the 2 of us we'll have more shoes than underwear!!

I don't know what the shoe queen has planned. She also wears about 10 tank tops at once, so that puts us at about 280 shirts since she needs to change a minimum of twice a day.

I'll be the one sitting in the laundry room, wearing fantastic footwear. :teeth: :teeth: :teeth:

On my last cruise(not Disney) I brought 8 pairs of shoes.

white sandals
black sandals
black beach shoes/sandals(ones I didnt mind getting sandy)
sneakers (for walking the deck)
white casual shoes(like sneakers, but zip up)
black open toe heels for formal night and some other dresses
black heels(the open toe ones didnt look right with 1 dress)
casual black heels(open back, thick heel) for 1 capri/light sweater outfit(the dress heels wouldnt have looked right with those)

We were out of control with our shoes on our 7 nt in October of last year. My DH is just as bad as I am with shoes and I went overboard with our 2 DD'a that were 2 1/2 and 1 1/2. The DD's had
1 water shoes
2 sneakers
3 dress shoes
4 white sandals
5 brown sandals
6 blue sandals
so that was 12 prs of shoes for just the kids. My husband had 2 different kinds of sandals plus water shoes, sneakers and dress shoes so you can imagine that I had atleast that plus a few more. Yes I am an out of control packer and I always overpack but we seem to wear everything. I could never leave 50% behind like the tips suggest and my husband doesn't really complain much about the 8 bags we have to check.:D

My heart started beating so fast when I saw this thread, I LOVE shoes!!
But, for my cruise, I'll be taking it easy.
2 pairs of flip flops (the 3 inch wedgies in pink !!! and a pair that have Princess written all over them)
1 pair walking sandals for excursions
1 pair gold dress sandals for formal/semi nights
White Mickey sneakers for the plane

DH and DSs will probably bring 1 pair of sandals each, a pair of black dress shoes, and a pair of sneakers.

I don't want to have to bring a whole separate bag just for shoes, so we're keeping it light. But now I'm wondering if 1 pair of dressy shoes is enough. If I go to an onboard club on a non-formal/semi night, can I get away with wearing flip flops? I don't think I'd feel right wearing then to an adult evening club. So I guess I'll be packing a pair of casual nice sandals, too!

I find shoes to be the hardest thing about cruising.

I'm not a shoe person and we were only on the four night...

Tennis shoes (on the plane)
Enzo flats (for everything) in bone
Choco sandals that doubled as water sandals (next time, cheap light flip flops - didn't wear these except on cc - and then wore them only back and forth from the ship.
Strappy dress sandals (also in bone) to go with dress up clothes.

Shoes are a women thing. For peace of mind LET IT GO. As a man you will never win that fight. I just packed another bag just for shoes and prayed that she would not buy any on the trip. My wife wanted to buy a pair. I acted like I didn't hear her when she said ,I need another pair. You will loose this one so suck it up and be prepared for her to over pack and over draw your account. Under pack for yourself and things will balance out. This way you will have a stress free vacation and can enjoy yourself.Have fun and enjoy your trip.

I think you should add a pair of nice sandals to wear on the more casual nights. I always bring two pairs of sneakers, four pairs of sandals, beach sandals, three pairs of heels. I always have the chance to wear every pair.

Mindy, I put our shoes in large ziploc bags (2 gal) and disperse them throughout our luggage. Flip-flops are easy to pack and can usually be tucked in a pocket in the front. The bigger shoes get put on the bottom of the suitcase. We all usually wear our tennies on the plane as they take up the most amount of space. Some people devote a whole bag to shoes. If the bag gets lost then you will be wearing your tennies with your formal wear. I am an overpacker and I am NOT doing laundry on the ship if I can help it! I usually pack the kids outfits in Ziploc bags, squeeze all the air out and that helps save on space too, Voila! more room for shoes!

No, no, no scottygirl. There's a much better way to make room for shoes if you do what I do. I remove all of my husband's clothing and voila! There's plenty of room in the suitcase.

For this to work, you do need to include a bottle of Febreeze. DH tends to get a bit stinky around day three of the cruise. :teeth:

Teva's definately...secure kind and flip/flops..hubby and I wore them (we have both kinds) on the ship and in the ports.

They are like tennis shoes..so comfy and very cool when it is warm.

Someone said they weren't colour matching. I can't NOT colour match. I had to buy red sandals because I had brown and was trying to bring only things that went with brown but then had to bring my Mom's sequined black and white striped Mickey t-shirt so had to buy black pants. I refuse to wear brown with black! I really tried to buy black shoes that would double for formal night and with my pants but realized very quickly that this beast does not exist! My Mom used to have an Imelda-like collection of shoes but now wears Birkenstocks all day! She's bringing more than those on the cruise though.
