Do you have to have all the points in your account to cover your requested room at the time you make the reservation? Or do they take into account that the points would be in your DVC account by check-in?
Here's my problem: I'm afraid we messed up when we bought our resale. The package we placed an offer on only has 15 2009 points available. We are planning a trip in November-ish 2010. We are hoping for a SSR GV ressie for that time. We bought 200 points, with 15 2009 points and all 2010 points. Our plan was to bank our 15 2009 pts, use all 2010 pts, and borrow 2011 points, plus probably add on another 50 SSR points and use the 2010 and 2011 pts from that purchase to cover the points needed for that ressie. If we need to make a reservation in January 2010 for a November 2010 stay, we are only going to have 15 points (plus maybe the 50 pt add on) in our account at reservation time. Will they let us make the reservation, knowing that by the time our June UY rolls around we will have a sufficient # of points available? I have heard that use year doesn't have anything to do with making a reservation, but I think in this case, it probably does. If it turns out that we won't be able to use the 200 point package we just bought, I may see if I can call and cancel. I hate to lose the good deal, but if we can't use the points in our upcoming trip, it's useless. BTW, we aren't official owners of the 200 points yet. It's still awaiting ROFR approval.
TIA! I hope I explained myself clearly. UY and all that is so confusing to me, so I may not have done a very good job getting the information across.

Still haven't quite decided on a definite week. We're waiting for our newest family member to arrive before we think about the next major event.
I was freaking out that this major purchase we just made was suddenly useless. I realize that we should have dotted our i's before purchasing, but the UY stuff is confusing to both DH and I, neither of us considered how it might affect our ability to make reservations. Blame it on first-time
