How many points do you own?

Enough to get a solid # of rewards points on the Chase Sapphire card and I use those points to get our rental cars for "free" or hotels for using the 50% reward credit using the Chase/Expedia front end via their rewards site. The 3x rewards points on paying the dues helps ease the pain a bit :)
Wait, can you can pay dues on CC? 🤯

Nope, NEVER!!!

That’s why I’m gonna need some sleep around points. (thinking maybe Aulani direct)
Aulani resale make decent SAP, if you care about the new resorts then I would consider opting for a WDW resort instead and just use them at Aulani

Announced in December, budget approved at annual meeting in early December, billed in December, due January 15 but not considered late until February 15.
Thank you. Dec is usually nuts with Christmas spending, travel spending, and both of my kids’ birthdays…but paying them all in early Feb wouldn’t be too bad. I presume you get a bill mid-December and then have a couple weeks to decide if you want to stay monthly or switch to upfront annual?

I’m over here doing intermediate algebra trying to calculate rewards points value vs. interest on money market accounts after prevailing tax rates. 😵‍💫

As someone who owns Aulani direct, even stacking promotions, they are a very expensive mark-up for SAP. 😭😭

I’d wait to see what the next promotions are first.

Yea, my thinking was id go to Aulani probably as often as WDW (I’m in CA), and if direct I could use them at VDH as well…
Originally I was thinking bigger and subsidized, but then they wouldn’t be able to be used at VDH.
Maybe the perfect scanario is subsidized Aulani and a resale contract at VDH. ;)

A cheap resale AUL can be just as good as a sub AUL, but buying direct VDH as SAP is also a good value as well if you really don't want a WDW home resort.

Not that I don’t want one, just that I already have one at WDW, so it feels like I should have one in Hawaii as well. :)

I’m also CA based. My guess (especially if Disneyland Forward happens) is that eventually VDH will be very hard to book without home resort priority, so I definitely wouldn’t pay the premium of booking direct on the hope you can use points at VDH often. VDH resale probably makes more sense, but I don’t plan our DL trips far enough in advance to book 7mo out, let alone 11mo out, 9 times out of 10.

I get that, I kinda diversified my portfolio based on similar thinking. 1 for AK, 1 for Epcot/HS, 1 for Hawaii. Still missing my MK home resort though which is what Poly is for and DL. DL home priority is probably the lowest importance for me by far just because I grew up about 15 minutes from DL and have been hundreds of times. We may end up living in Orange County area as well just because of family. If we end up living anywhere else but SoCal I'll probably buy VGC down the line but even then idk, it's just too tempting to stay home and drive myself especially when going with family means getting tickets for free lol.

Thanks for these stats because I'm too lazy to LOL but also I'm legitimately surprised by how high the requirement is to hit 75th percentile. I thought it would've been closer to 4-500s

Might go against the positive nature of the thread but I have 505 but will be looking to go down under 400 soon
I have a feeling this will happen to me later on.. either with the AUL/AKV resale. Prob will use it for awhile when the kids are growing up and then eventually drop down to 600 ish between direct RIV/Poly but we'll see. These things won't happen for a longggg time

We "only" have 701, and are likely going to stay right around there. In fact, I just sold a 40-point contract a couple of months ago as I move some points over to Aulani. I say we'll probably stay right around there because we have other interests and take plenty of non-Disney vacations (actually more non-Disney days per year), and that's exactly where I want it to stay. It keeps Disney trips fresh, and there is just too much in the world to see. We love to camp and overland, and do motor sports trips all over the US and have hit Le Mans and a few F1 races outside the US. Pre-pandemic, we were in Italy for three weeks one year, did an REI excursion/trekking trip to Machu Picchu another, and spent two weeks in Egypt seeing Giza, the Valley of the Kings, and spending 4 days on the Nil another year. We're hoping to get to Petra if things ever get safer over there.
