How many points do you have?

We have 1,250 points, with no plans to add-on in Hawaii.

380 total split between 4 contracts (100 AKV and 280 VGC).

Never seems like enough with all our extended family that join us.

A bit OT...but there was (is?) a 2000 pt OKW contract for sale on one of the 're-salers' sites! That's alotta dues  but what a great way to snowbird!!!:goodvibes

(oh! we have 210 BCV-no plans for Hawaii...still trying to find a way to spend retirement years at the POLY!):lovestruc

Friskykitten, hold your head high (which I am sure you do) crap happens and it sounds like you handled it well. Good luck with the future add ons. People do not get dvc and that is ok. I do not "get buying a new car every 3 years or smoking a pack of cigaretts a day or even stopping for coffee everyday on your way to work when you can make it much cheaper" but everyone has their own wants and give up certain things to get them. Vacation is something I will never give up!

We have 605 points 160 VGC, 160 SSR and 285 BLT!

We have 580: first purchase of 240 at VB; second purchase of 140 SSR; and third purchase of 200 SSR. We are probably done, unless DH hears of a really good deal on points :cool1::cool1: He just loves a sale :rotfl::rotfl:

We don't have a standard use of the points and most years bank points. This last twelve months we have stayed at SSR for 8 nights; friends stayed at THV for 7 nights; are going to AKL on Saturday :woohoo::woohoo: for 7 nights and hope to bring some family to HHI after Christmas for 6 or 7 nights.

Our trips vary from year to year.

only a tiny 160 and that will have to work for some years to come...

We have 1030 and take mostly extended family vactions. WDW is a fun place to meet friends and family! We haven't begun to book 2011 yet, and only have 503 to use in that UY because this year is chock full of vacations and we are heavily borrowed! We began '10 with Marathon weekend, and are ending it with the family over NYE at BWV!!!!

Bobbi:goodvibes

PS. We also like going to National Parks, and this year, our "Couples gettaway" is a trip to Glacier NP! Next year, we're taking a cruise to the Holy Land/Egypt! DH and I look forward to being retired and able to travel more. We think it will be in 2+ years.

670 points all at the Boardwalk on five contracts (200, 25, 25, 270, 150) over the years.

I usually spend a couple weeks after New Years at the Boardwalk (first two weeks of January) and typically get two two-bedroom units and bring along family and friends. We have a great time. Everybody goes their own way and two or three times during that period we will all get together for dinner somewhere or for one of the fireworks boats either at Magic Kingdom or EPCOT.

Ahhh... this is my dream! I love that time of year at WDW. We are looking to purchase about 170 pts at BWV so that we can go every other year in January for about 5 days in a 2bdr. That allows my DH and kids a week of missed work/school and travel time to/from MD. But one day, I dream of adding more and just parking myself there for a couple of weeks like you guys! :worship:

Started out in 2006 with 220, have added on 110 and 110 through Disney and are right now waiting on ROFR for 200 through TTS. This will be 640 pts for Me, DW, DD 11 and DD 7. All at SSR and all same UY. We love it and it has enabled us to take all of our siblings(and their children) and our parents at one time or another. Also have taken cruises on partial pts

We have 600 pts at AKV (3- 200 point contracts with the same use year). We have had them for 2 1/2 years and have done ABD to Italy (we got an extra 600 points when we bought in as a bonus), 2 weeks at AKV, 1 week at HH, and have booked another week this Nov. and planning Grand Villa experience next year. We have 3 kids, 2 DIL's, and 6 grandkids, so we have lots of people to enjoy Disney with. I would buy more points, but DH thinks we have enough!

We have 675 - 175 at AKV and 500 (2 contracts) at BLT. Its just 2 of us but we love the 1 bedrooms and have taken my mom and brother on 3 trips so far. Once we have kids I can see us needing even more points.

I have 150 BCV, well they aren't technically mine, they are my Mom's and I am an associate, but I've used about 80% of the points since she got them in 2003. I would like to add 120-150 at BLT, but I think that is a few years out still. I used points to book my first Disney Cruise next year! Most of the time we book studios, but last year we got a 1 bedroom for the F&W and I really liked the amenities of a 1BR over a studio. I'm planning on getting an OL during our next trip since we will have a car that trip we can stock it up.

260 AKL (160 original contract + 100 add on). We'll be adding on next year most definitely. DH has 5 siblings so those kinds of family trips eat away our points.

My parents purchased 200 at SSR - my husband and I recently financed a 125 point add on with the new incentive, so we are at 325. Next year we are going to look resale for a small (25-50 points) contract at BWV or BCV for our annual F&W trip.

We have 2 contracts. 200 at SSR and 70 BLT. We'll definitely be adding on more though!

We used to have 650 points; 150 OKW; 170 OKW, 200 VB and 130 SSR. Unfortunately, we have had to sell VB and SSR due to both of us losing our jobs in 2009. So we are down to 320 pts. Nowhere near enough with a family size of seven yet still way too many points if you happen to let someone know you were having financial difficulties due to job loss. Then, according to some, we were just irresponsible flops for purchasing them in the first place even though the loss of our jobs were something we could not control. We are both back to working two jobs and are living without the use of credit cards and will one day buy back more points. Just as other families have said, Disney is the one and only extravagance that we have.

When we lost our jobs, two days apart from each other, we posted on the budget board for ideas on how to keep afloat as we had no idea how long we would be without work and a steady income. We got some really nasty comments about how many points we owned. (we also got very good help from most of the posters) It didn't matter that we purchased them when we could afford them. Or that two of the contracts were already paid off. Or that we had been living off of a savings account with seven months worth of cash in it & 401k's with money in it that we wouldn't touch anyway. We had done what we were supposed to do as responsible consumers except for having too much credit card debt which we have since fixed. So just a warning for the future in case anyone else runs into a similar situation and have more points than someone else deems are too many. They will dig up past posts you have made and try to make you feel like an irresponsible drain on society if you put your money into DVC. With that said, we will still purchase more points in the future when I have saved up enough cash to buy more. We have had to adjust our living and spending due to our new incomes and we have definately learned a few lessons along the way. But we are still DVC owners and proud to be!

God bless!

I hope the job market changes for you. You are not the irresponsible ones, you cannot control your job security in this economy. The morons in Washington are. And regarding those complaining about the number of points you have, its called envy. We have 270 points now which is just below average. I only buy in small contracts as the money comes in and pay cash, but beyond about 350 points, I would not want the maintenance fees.
