How many points do most people have?

We started with 252pts at BWV in 1999 buying direct. We sold a 150pt contract at HH without even staying there as airfare from our area was exorbitant. We then purchased additional points thru a combo of direct and resale at BWV and a small 28pts contract at AKV for a grand total of 800pts. We mainly stay at BWV but have tried all the resorts at least once. Using my points in June to stay a week in Aulani in a grand villa and an ocean view studio. No problem booking at 7months with BWV points. We have a BWV stay in Dec also. We generally go every three years for big trips but then use our points to try a few days here and there when in the area for business. I think we have enough now but you never know. I had planned to buy poly as I love that resort but after seeing the units decided against it. I'm sure I will find plenty of availability once newness wears off and if I'm flexible. Just sad there are no one bedrooms as I like my privacy and my little grand son would make it too tight in a studio

We took our guide's advice at the time we bought and decided what time of year we would most likely go (Thanksgiving) and what type of room (2BR) and bought 270 points. I'm hoping to one day add on a few more points via small aftermarket contracts but not yet.

We just purchased 110 BLT points for Christmas. We haven't been "home" yet but Have a trip planned for November. The plan is to purchase 110 boardwalk or beach club points within the next 2 years. this will make it possible to stay in a 1 bedroom for a week once a year or studio twice a year and we can alternate resorts each year. I can't see us going more than twice a year so I'm pretty sure the 220 points will be plenty.

We started with 200, now we are at 850 and still isn't enough! LOL We have points all over - we have stayed at Hilton Head, Vero, Aulani, and as of this fall - EVERY resort Disney has to offer in the US. We will be staying at the Polynesion for a couple of nights in the bungalows. We do cruises with our points, 2-3 week beach vacations at Hilton Head and/or Vero. I was a little hesitant to buy - but I have NOT regretted it yet. We love going as a family and with friends. Sometime we go a few times a year, other times it may take us a year or two to save enough points to do - say - the cruise or spend 10+ days in Hawaii.

We own 260 points. 160 at BLT and 100 at Aulani.... I really wish we had bought about 110 or 120 at Aulani to broaden our options a bit more but we may do an add on at a later date for some points there or elsewhere.

We literally just bought in at 50 points. But I already wish we had more! Unfortunately this is about all we can afford right now. But we wanted to go ahead and get in. We are still a young couple (married just under two years, no kids, less than 3 years into our careers), so we figured we'd get a head started by jumping in with 50, then by the time we're older/farther in our career/finally have kids we'll already have it and can just add on points.

I have 160 at SSR and I have addonitis but I also have the Italian disease myfundsalo so when that clears up I will be buying more points probably a resale at VGF or BWV, or a 2057 OKW or all 3

This really made me giggle!

We will have 550- if our current 250 passes ROFR, hope I'm not jinxing it- with the other 300 at AKL. We actually bought the BWV solely for the purpose of renting out the points for now and covering the AKL maintenance fees as well as the BWV ones. We figured, we'd be paying the money annually anyway, so why not put it towards a new contract that would probably benefit us down the line.

We have 360, started with 210 (VGC) and added (150) a year later. Now we are on the waitlist for 200 more for VGC. We've thought about Aulani, but love having everything at one resort, especially one that is so hard to book at the 7 month mark. We have four kids (1 adult child and 3 young kids) so, we need a minimum of a 2 bedroom each time. And, for example, when we go to Aulani or WDW, we stay a minimum of 2 weeks.

My guess is that most people, like us, have just a few less than they think they need. We started with 210 points, thought we were all set-for a while. Then we needed just a few more, so we bought 100 more, which satisfied us for a few months until we needed a little…well, you get the pattern. Now we're up to 460 points, and we THINK that's enough.

Update-since I wrote this, we've decided that 460 points isn't quite enough (actually, it's that we have 100 points at BCV and we need a "few" more there). So just this morning I began the search for a small add-on at BCV.

we bought 250 BCV in 2009 and 300 SSR in 2010 for a total of 550 points. I wonder sometimes if we should have waited for AKV becasue they are our second favorite resort but at the time we really just wanted more points and for $68 a point we could not go wrong.

We have 5 contracts [520pts], all with the same use year , [ Feb ] ................ We are thinking about having a "garage sale"...........anyone interested in OKW?...........Been there since 6/1997

I have 160 at VGC and 120 at AKL. It works for now although I'm always borrowing points. I may need to add on again in a couple years as the schools in California won't allow you to pull your kid out for vacations and if I have to travel at higher point times then I'll need more after my son starts kindergarten in August 2016.

Ha I just bought 30 more bwv points yesterday so I am up to 250 now have 60 at bwv maybe I can finally use an 11 month window lol

175 points at Boardwalk
80 points at Bay Lake Tower
65 points at Villas at the Grand Floridian

Total of 320 points.

We use the Boardwalk points mainly for our longer fall trips. Then we use the Bay Lake /VGF contracts in alternating years so we have two years' worth of points to use at each resort.

Started out with 160 BWV points, direct, in 1997,
added on 50 more thru resale

130 points direct at SSR (paid too much but used them for Aluani twice)

90 points direct at BLT
54 points direct at BLT
50 add on resale BLT
50 add on resale BLT

50 points resale VWL

634 total

Mostly the same use year, but a couple not

Also in the process of acquiring two weeks of a timeshare minutes from Disney, 2 bed/2 bath townhome style. Owner did not want it any more...so getting it for the cost of maintenance fees. I figure with the annual pass, I'll be able to utilize parking for free....and be able to take family down without using our DVC points. I think we're done.

Well, I started out with 200 back in 2000 and then worked my way up to 585 by 2010 and now I'm at 210.

Started with 200 OKW in 2006. Now have 505 (200 OKW, 125 HHI, 100 AKV and 80 BWV). I'd like some more BWV and maybe some VWL. But right now we're happy with the 505 number. MIL and FIL use 100 per UY and we use the other 405 and have more than enough in total. If we do add more points, we could do some renting.

I have 500 now. I started with 150 HH that I expected to use some for HH and some for WDW, but now use only at HH. I added BW especially for F & W and VB for Spring Break trips. Recently bought AK and a small Poly contract, my only direct purchase. I probably will sell the VB pretty soon due to current market conditions and because my need is less since some relatives bought a condo on the Florida coast. But for now I am using those extra points to stay this year at DL and hopefully next year at Aulani.

Well, we started with 150 points at OKW back in 1997. Then we added another 50 at OKW pretty quickly. Once BCV open we added another 100. Then we were offered a great deal at Vero, so added another 100. We stayed at 400 for quite a few years. Then we added 400 points at AKV. So that gave us a total of 800 for a few more years. Our girls got older and we started going less often. So we sold the 400 points at AKV. Great deal! We got more than we paid for them. We have set tight so far with 400 points. We are going again in September and are debating selling BCV and Vero when we get back. It all depends on the trip. Right now I am leaning towards selling. The new FastPass+ system and tough to get ADR's is putting a real damper on the whole trip. We will hang on to the OKW points for a couple more years, but that could change too. The prices on resale's are pretty good right. I think we want to start vacationing more in Europe.

We started with 190 at OKW in 1993. We now have 635, all at OKW in two different use years. Although we love OKW, we've stayed at all the Orlando resorts except the BCV. Our girls are grown, married, and have kiddos now, so, when they travel with us, we need large units. I think I've only "not used / lost" 7 points in all those years. We tend to go multiple times a year, sometimes for less than a week. We also have a vacation home on Hilton Head. That purchase was Disney's fault after we had so much fun at their resort there! LOL
