I am trying to figure out how many points I need when I buy. I would like to use Disneyland Paris and the Disney Cruise. I can't find anywhere this is located. Does anyone have a ballpark figure?

It will all depend on how many people you will you need to cover in points, what time of year you would prefer to sail? what catagory stateroom and how many times you would like to be taking these vacations, Yearly, or every other year. Those are a few of the questions you need to ask yourself before coming to some kind of decision on how many points to buy. You can access the point charts on www.wdwinfo.com under Disney Vacation Club. I hope this helps a little.

Is there a points chart for the Disney Cruise on a website? I couldn't find it here or elsewhere. I finally did get it when I called about DVC and they sent me this large hardcover book about buying into DVC - it has the points chart for cruises in it.

I am so sorry I mispoke, I saw that they had the point charts so I assumed, which we know not to do  that they would have included the cruise points but I see that they did not. oops.

No problem there - LOL! I was hoping there was a point chart for DCL online cause the one in the book is so BIG and bulky. I would like something smaller.

We cruised for the first time a couple of weeks ago and loved it. I'm just thinking about DVC now and am interested in how folks use their points for it.

Do you pay a fee for using points for DCL? Our DVC guide suggested using the points just for the kids and playing around with the website it seems some sailings are only a few hundred dollars additional if I was paying for the kids outright. But I found one July sailing where it was $1200 for the kids (vs. just the DCL fare for 2 adults). Seems like that is a better use of points (of course more points).

I saw a thread on another board about a huge rebooking discount onboard too - I wonder if anyone has done that with points or has more info about it.

The only point book I have is through DVC for the cruise, and your right that is a bit big and bulky. We have done the cruise with paying cash for our two kids and have paid points for my dh, mil and myself. and we have also done the cruise with paying all points. There are no additional fees involved when using your points for the cruise.
I had just read from another poster that if you call member services within 3 days of disembarktion of the cruise you will be able to receive 10% off you points. so you can take advantage of booking while cruising.

Wow that is a huge discount, I will definately look into that we are sailing on Nov 3rd. It would make more sense to rebook it then. :thumbsup2

I think I'll ask the DVC guide about this - it just seems unbelieveable or a typo perhaps. I think if the discount was that great it would be well known here on the boards.

Enjoy your Western!

I agree, My guess would be 10% off in points sounds more realistic. 10pts off every 100pts. Keep me posted. I am curious to know.
Thanks

If you go to dvcmember website they have charts for all the cruses, catagory rooms and times of the year. Hope this helps

I started a thread on the topic of rebooking on DVC points a few months ago. One person had recently returned and gave the exact number of points she had been quoted in various categories. The percentages differed, but they were definitely better than the cash discount. They ranged from about 15% to about 25%.
