SD was great! We originally thougt we'd use points for the Coronado Resort through the Concierge Collection, but it would eat up way too many points if we did that and used points at the DLH. In the end we stayed in the Mission Valley area and were 15 minutes from the zoo in one direction and 15 mintues to the beach in the other. We loved SD!

I actually booked in September for next August so that was 11 months. We are using 128 points to stay at GCH for 4 weeknights in a std view room. It would have been $1700 or $1900 with tax, I don't remember which, in cash. That makes it a good use of points for us as I count points as $10 each when making a comparison.

I'm happy to hear about upgrades for people who book standard rooms, too! Maybe we'll be lucky. :woohoo:

It's nice not having to pay the resort fee, too. :thumbsup2 That can add up if you are staying for a few days.

Although nothing has been confirmed yet, expect to pay the $95 resort fee once the Grand Californian Villas open. At that time it is also likely that we will no longer be able to use our points to stay in regular rooms at the GC. This has been the case for all of the WDW resorts that are part DVC/part regular hotel.

Yes, that may happen. I've heard rumors that they are thinking of suspending the $95.00 fee since the number of units is so small. I guess we'll eventually see which direction they are going to go.

Before we ojined DVC we never stayed at a Disneyland Resort. Now, we are spoiled, and never stay anywhere but the Grand Californian. DVC has dramatically improved the quality of our vacations! :-))
