How many poeple used DVC for Disneyland?

I've used them at the DGC, it was great. When you stay at this hotel you can get into the park before hours and do a power walk with a castmember. It was worth my points just to do that.
We loved the early morning power-walk! :cool1: Very Cool!

We were upgraded to a suite at the Paradise Pier hotel last month. We stayed 4 nights at the DLH and our last night at PP. What a thrill to find out we had been given a suite when we had only reserved a standard view room! Now I'm sure this doesn't happen often, and that a factor in our luck was the fact that we were only staying there one night, but it was still great!

I was upgraded last stay at the GCH from a standard to a theme park view. It was a great view and gave me a small taste of how wonderful GCV will be! :lovestruc

Have used points for stays at GCH and DLH and felt it was well worth it. I preferred the DLH as our room was huge with two queen beds and a single size day bed overlooking the pool area both times. The room at the GCH overlooked the main entrance portico and the parking lot. The windo was such that you had to stand on your toes to see out. It was also on the small side.

We went to DL last August and decided that that points were not a good value. We booked a SV at the PP with the Fall AP rates of $159/night (+ tax and resort fee), staying Thur. thru Mon. The total was about $750 cash and the point cost would have been 118. Once again, we were upgraded to Theme Park view.

Especially when the special AP rates are available in the Fall and Winter (excluding holidays), points look pretty expensive. In addition, when rooms are expensive, we often stay offsite at DL. -- Suzanne

Hi...just booked DLH for Easter Week Apr. 12-17 using our Developer's Points. The points per night has gone up considerably IMO for peak season over 2008 rates. Sun-Thurs. peak season 26pts. - 2008
Sun-Thurs. Peak season 30pts. - 2009
I would have thought it would be 1 or 2 pt. increase, but 4 seems alot.

Anyhow, just wondering from those of you with experience booking at DLH, how long does it take to get your confirmation of the reservation?

Thanks

We've stayed at the Grand Californian a few times on points. It is a lot more points as compared to WDW, but I LOVE the Grand Californian. I can't wait for the DVC to be finished there so hopefully the point requirements won't be as much.

I did too! Dh and the boys slept in but I enjoyed the PowerWalk. It was not leisurely but I kept up and it was neat to see CA before it opened. We walked the entire park.

They were taping TSM for Travel Channel the morning I was there:thumbsup2

We've used it three times - once in GC, once in DLH and once in DLH concierge level - I would do it again in a heartbeat!

It's just like making a reservation at a DVC property. You call MS and tell them your dates, hotel choice and view choice and they let you know if it is available. If they have what you want you confirm it right then and you get a confirmation letter (the same kind as with a DVC resort reservation) in the mail a few days later.

O.K...thanks...the lady at MS told me that it was available and put in a "request" and she said we would get a confirmation when it was confirmed...but she didn't say how long that would take. Sounds like it will be a couple of weeks.

I actually booked in September for next August so that was 11 months. We are using 128 points to stay at GCH for 4 weeknights in a std view room. It would have been $1700 or $1900 with tax, I don't remember which, in cash. That makes it a good use of points for us as I count points as $10 each when making a comparison.

I'm happy to hear about upgrades for people who book standard rooms, too! Maybe we'll be lucky. :woohoo:

Guess you "got lucky" and were able to reserve past 7 mos window for your Developer Points.

We are AKV Kidani and can only book Developer Points at 3 Disneyland Hotels 7 mos out...

Happy Planning! Disneyland looks really fun!!!!!!!!!

We used our points to book a one-bedroom suite for 4 nights at the DLH this past June and it was great! :thumbsup2 The points for suites are not published in our DVC info, but it was 189 points for the Sat-Tue stay. I would consider this to be an "expensive" use of points, but we're spoiled by the one and two-bedroom villas at WDW and we like the extra room. And the ability to put the kids to bed, but still be able to have the living room available for us was a priority. We would never have paid cash for a room like this, but DVC ownership allows us this luxury. And the DL/San Diego trip we did this year was our family vacation for the year. So it was either enjoy the points we've already paid for, or not go to DL.

We don't plan on going back to DL for a while as we usually go to WDW, but once in a while, it's nice to know we can use out points elsewhere.

11 months

Although we ran into a problem when we tried booking our June 2008 trip in July 2007. The 2008 point charts weren't out yet, so they wouldn't let me book. When we finally were able booked at 9 months out, we didn't have any trouble at all getting what we wanted.
