Plan on switching to late Aug to get free dining?

  • Nope, going one of first three weeks, period.

  • Yes! We are changing our dates for free dining!

  • Thinking about it, but not sure we can make it work

I'm just curious....how many of you plan on switching from an earlier Aug date to the last week in Aug to get free dining??? I am not eligible this trip as I am going down with a youth group, but am curious how free dining will affect the crowds

Already booked my airfare so I can't switch my dates, but I might go elsewhere besides Disney.

Our dates are 8/21 - 8/30. I highly doubt we'll change our dates. We did get free dining last year, but it's not THAT important.
Yes, it would be nice and would save our group of 11 a grip of cheddar, but we're going anyway! :goodvibes WHOO HOO!!:cool1:

I already have my airfare booked and this it the only week we can go. Therefore we are not changing our reservations. If we could of I would have changed my reservations when I got the 40% code postcard.

Wow...I'm kinda shocked on the poll results. I would of thought that alot of people would switch.:confused3

We have ours booked for September 28th thru October 8th I think that we will switch ours if FREE DINING comes out.................

Once the promotion is announced, I have a feeling the resulting early August date changes and cancellations will eventually lead Disney to extend the free dining promotion to earlier August dates.

We're heading down Aug. 19-26, and will not be changing ours.

The latest we can go is the week of Aug. 11 to the 18th, my ds has intense football practice the last 2 weeks of Aug. and if he misses that he could miss out on playing time, free dining isn't worth it if we have to see the look of dissapointment on his face when he is sitting on the bench. We have ressies at the Dolphin and I will only switch it if they have free dining that same week, although the rumors say it will be late aug. to late sept.

DD and I have to go back to school / work on August 26.... Will not be changing ressies.

We won't switch our dates as we have airfare, but I do have more options than most. I will cancel my 3 packages and use my DVC points to stay in a 2 bedroom at OKW. I wanted to save my points for another trip in the future, but I at least have this option. We will pay for our DDP instead. We were only gong to be on the free ddp package for 4 nights at Pop. But I've already made my back up reservation. Just waiting for the official word before I call CRO and cancel my grand gathering. So that will be 3 rooms at Pop that will be available. I believe my DIL will be cancelling her 4 rooms at Pop for early Ausut and the last I heard she plans to rebook for September. She has 12+ kids so free dining is a must for her. Unfortunately she will have to take them out of school now.

Yea I do plan to cancel but I've just put everything on hold because now I don't know what/who/when I'm planning for. I think our dates will move from 8/11-8/23 to 9/15-9/23 free dining saves us 3,600. Luckly I hadn't book airfare.

We are going 8/21 to 8/27, as much as I would have liked free dining, I am a college student and can't move my trip back any, also my ds will be going to Kindergarden in the fall and I don't want to have to take him out of school soon after he starts.
Also I have booked our airfare, it would cost me more to change our plane tickets then free dining would save.

Me, too!! There have been some of us DISers here on this board and another that were thinking we'd have much larger crowds end of the month because of the later date on free dining (thus the poll I posted). It looks like many people don't have the option of switching (air, school, sports). Now it will be a wait and see how many of the general public take advantage. I really am not too worried about the parks in general as being a DISer makes me better prepared than 'them' to get around he crowds, but I've been searching here and many say that the restaurants are crazy during free dining (my group isn't eligible). Could there be a positive == Do you think park hours will increase???

August 26 - Sept 22 is really a small group. A lot of people simply can't go during this time. I have gone during the last week of August 3 times with plans to return this summer. There are not a lot of school age children there. Most kids are back in school. Disney knows they will only get a limited number of the general public with these dates and that is probably how they want it.

I am seriously considering it because we are going for two weeks and free dining will save us $1700.00 That's a lot of money. We could go for 1 week instead, but 1 week goes by way to fast for us and this is our only splurge all year. We stay home and save our money, but even so a Disney trip with a family of 5 is very expensive and we really do like to eat out everynight. I don't know what to do. The kids would have to miss school, BUT it's a huge savings. I hate this.

we're booked for 8/13 - 8/23 with the DDP right now....I'm bringing 4 teenagers and the total for the 10 nights of dining is $2334.90!!!!! I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to save that much with the free dining! The only way we can switch our dates is if they miss the first 3 days of school...three of them are seniors this year so we're not sure it's a good idea...but that extra $$$$ would be sweet! what to do, what to do?!?!?!:headache: can't they just offer it starting a week earlier, huh? pleeze Disney :goodvibes
