How many pins each year?

My 6 year old has just started collecting Disney pins and having great fun with it. I was curious as to how many different pins come out each year. Is it hundreds? The reason I ask is that I used to collect toy tractors for a while and it was fun when I started about 20 years ago because there weren't all that many and you could feel as though you could get somewhat close to a complete collection but when the manufactures figured out there was a collectors market there were collectors editions coming out in mass. It took the fun out of it. You felt as though even if you bought several tractors a month you still were missing out on many. My 6 year old could care less about this she is just having fun doing this but I was curious if the pin collecting hobby was going the same way as I have read that it is increasing in popularity.

TOO MANY! And that's just here in the US. Then you have Japan, France, and other locations that make pins. You better have your daughter pick a theme, character or movie that she likes or you could be spending lots of cash and still feel like you don't have them all.

Example...my daughter collects Lilo & Stitch pins, movie and calendar posters from the Disney store.

If you think the tractors were bad wait until you get going on pins. There are at least a few pins each week. No, I didn't mean year, month but yes each week. It can be really over whelming at first because you want them all and I don't think anyone really gets them all. But after the first little bit of rush, I think it gets easier to find what really interests you. Unfortunately, it still means a small fortune. It is however, a lot of fun and I hope you both enjoy it. On pinpics.com (where most pins are listed with pictures) there are now over 12000 pins listed.
