my dilemma is...daughter is going to Peru for 2 wks vacation...i bought a 2gb and 512mb card for my soon to be acquired camera...i am going to let her use my cards to add to her 128 mb card for her 4mp easyshare...

now i feel like the guilty rotten mother cause i don't' know if i want her to take the 2gb card just in case it gets dropped into the amazon or something ( she's careful and responsible but unintentionally broke my slr her second to last trip)

she wants to take lots of pictures..but her "lots" when she went to Paris for 5 days was 72 pictures  (she really is my daughter but didn't get the "snap happy " gene i have)

so just how hard is it to ruin a memory card? would the 512 and 128 give her a decent amount or should i be the good mom and give her the 2gb too? most of the time she will be in non-electric areas so probably won't be able to burn cds if she needs more room

I have a 4mp camera and on my 512mb card i can take a little under 300 pictures... Is 300 enough? :confused3

I would give her the 2 gig. It is better to have the extra storage. If it is a once in a lifetime trip why be worried if you will have enough space.

It sounds like a once in a lifetime trip. Give her the cards with a protective case. Better to have enough. Shoot at max quality. Figure out how many pictures she can take. It might be higher when actually taking them. Encourage her to shoot a lot of pictures.

PS I took over 2500 pictures at WDW in a 2 week span.

Let her take the 2gb card. What are the chances that it gets lost? I'd say pretty slim and even if it did, you can buy a new 2gb SD (not sure what your cameras use) card for less than $50 these days. I wouldn't spend the time fretting over it.

I wasn't necessairly saying not to give her the 2 gig, but if you are saying that to her 72 pictures is a lot and you are that worried about the card then the 512mb with about 300 pictures should be plenty.

I personally would take the 2 gig. 2 weeks on vacation I wouldn't doubt that I would use all of that.

once she found out how many it help she grabbed it out of my hot little hand before i could blink so problem solved :teeth: ...however, i hadn't thought to tell her to take them at the best quality since she'll have plenty of room so thanks for the reminder . her paris pics were pretty good and i'm surpised how good they enlarged

I would send her with the card... you can always replace the card... let her get the pics of the lifetime!!! I am sure she will take care of it if... you stress to her to make sure she does!

now i might let her take all 3 just in case..the 128 and internal memory gives her about 120 pics so that should give her about 15-1700? that's 100 a day which i doubt she'll use but just in case. or knowing, her unless she sees Benjamin Bratt's brother or male cousins  ;)

I agree with this. You can never have too much storage. Of course this is coming from a person who took 700+photos in one night at a concert :lmao: and can easily take over 3,000 in a weekend to California! :goodvibes

daughter is back and took a grand total of ( drum roll) 300 pics during the 2 weeks... :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: guess she didn't need the extra card after all :rotfl2:
