The thread about the crane at the castle got me thinking.... do the folks who go to Disney a lot still take a lot of pictures?

Our early trips to WDW generated show boxes full of pictures. Since digital photography, we would come home with folders of pictures numbering in the hundreds. Also, DH would video every single second in the park (one time he accidently taped his trip to the bathroom but luckily nothing was captured on tape).

Now, although I always bring a small camera, I rarely take pictures. If we happen upon a character, I will pull out my cell phone but I have been coming home from WDW with fewer than five pictures per trip. And, this is with a 9 & 11 year old.

Do you find that the more often you go, the fewer pictures you take or are you still a shutterbug?

I used to drag a nice camera around but now I just use my phone and buy a few Photopass pictures for the family pictures. I also bought that CD of the Disney stock photos from Photopass, that was a really good buy. I usually make one album a year of everything we have done that year, and now I will pull some pictures off of that too.

I refuse to answer on the grounds that it would definitely incriminate me. :cool2:

Some people are picture people, some aren't. I scrapbook and love having lots of photos to scrap when we get home. It helps me live the trip all over again.

You should check out some of the many photo threads around the DIS. There are some amazing photographers taking amazing photos around the parks.

Ditto!

I take thousands per 5 days at WDW with a couple different cameras but I do like taking and viewing my pictures when I get home! If they ever forbid photography at Disney for some reason I'm not even sure I would go....:)

Yes, I think I took over 250 photos my last trip (this is like our 8 trip) plus over 50 photopass pictures. Camera Freak.....although I am a point and shoot girl, I still like my camera over my phone anyday.

I still take a ton even though I go often. We take less video than 10 years ago probably, but the people in our party changes from with kids to with no kids so that could be why on the video being less. I say you can never have too many Disney photos! I'm a photographer in real life but the last few years/trips I've just taken the point & shoot.

I find I'm taking fewer with each trip, with the exception of character pics - I've really enjoyed meeting characters on my solo trips and always like getting pics of and with them. I didn't take a lot of "scenery" shots this year, though - the one thing I made a point of taking some photos of was the new Rapunzel bathroom area, because this was my first visit since it was finished.

Too many to count. Especially now, with digital photography, I don't have to worry about the cost of film and developing if a shot turns out lousy. Just delete and try again.

I think this is my first time going with a smart phone so we'll see how many I take

I usually fill 2 albums. Last year we went with family and I filled 3. Yes, I still print them. My OCD won't let me stop. Once I start something, I have to continue. I just hope my kids appreciate it one day. Because this is time consuming. LOL

I have gone at least once a year for the past few years, sometimes more than one trip and I average 3,000 pics each trip. I love the digital age of cameras. I do look at them often and try and figure out what I could have done better. I am fortunate that my DH and my other travel companion know that I take a ton of pics and don't care.

Another photography freak here. On our last (20th???) visit I took close to 1000 photos over 12 days. That's not as much as I usually take, but I was sick for a couple of days. I won't have nearly that many once editing is complete. I go by the theory that if you take enough photos of any one thing at least one will be a keeper. :rotfl2:

First trip, I took pictures of everything. I didn't care if there were a million of the same shot on Facebook or whatever, it was my photo and therefore my experience.

Last two trips, I've taken pictures of what I want, that's about it. Each trip I took about 200 pictures, and most were of food or characters.

I usually come home with a lot of pictures. This time I only took about 250. But then I looked at out PP+ and there was over 400 pictures on it. I guess I was letting them do all the work for me! (And I was in way more pictures than I ever am.) Oh and dh also records all our trips. We have hours and hours of video that we edit in "movies" for the kids to watch whenever they want. There favorite is the movie from 10 years ago with my late mil with them. That video is priceless.

I take less. I use to take a little over a thousand photos per week's trip now a take a little less than a thousand. In the old days prior to digital - only a couple 2-3 rolls 70 +/- photos.

Last year I got almost 2000 photopass photos on a single purchase over 5 trips.

I took 10,800 pictures with my DSLR over 25 days on our last visit, plus 800+ with my wife's point&shoot, and we also were on the Photopass+.

overall we have around 12000 pics of that stay, with an average of 3500+ per week

I definitely take less pictures than on previous visits (I have 15 visits under my belt) but upgrading to digital sure has made me snap happy.
before digital, it was about 1 roll of 36 per day.

What changes the most from previous stays is that I no longer focus on the "popular pictures" ... I have tons of picture in front of the castle, now I let photopass photographers do their stuff. What I focus upon are the details. Close-ups of thing many guests would go by and not even notice or care to photograph.

I don't take less pictures, I take different pictures, pics I wouldn't have had time (or even the idea) to take on my first visits.

We just got back last week and I took 1478p pictures over 7 days. It was our 14th trip with the kids but I scrapbook so I still take pictures of everything!

Agreed and I do the same thing :goodvibes.

I take 250-500 pictures per day, depending on which park I'm at. Admittedly I am a photography freak!
