I'm shopping around for a new digital camera for my Disneyland trip and realized I didn't know how much memory I'd need. Any photography tips? Any great photo moments that weren't created by the photopass people? Anything I should know about photography in Disneyland? TIA!

I only took about 150 last time but I took way fewer pics than normal. I keep a 2G card in my camera and take a couple of smaller ones just in case. Of course, I also always take a laptop to load them on to as well.

I have a Canon EOS 30D with a Tamron 18-200mm lens. I am also bringing a couple of CF cards and a backup battery. I also am bringing a Velbon unipod. This will be my 1st trip to Disneyland, but have been to Disney World 3 times and 1 Disney Cruise (Wonder 4 day). We are going on ABD Backstage Magic, so I don't know how many photos I will shoot.
I had this camera to Alaska last year and have some fantastic photos.

I take photos like a maniac at Disneyland. I just got back with 2,700+ photos and I took a gaggle of memory cards with me, but cleared them off onto my laptop every night back at the hotel. Depending on how high your MP is set to (or image quality) you'll need a larger size memory card. I believe (although I could be wrong) that most small point-and-shoots take SD cards, and Target usually carries a couple of cheap 4 GB SD cards, which is where I purchased mine from, which would be more than you'd need unless you plan on taking thousands of photos. I shoot RAW which is a very large file size and my memory card usually gets about 400-500 images on it (it's a 4GB).

We spent a week in Hawaii before flying to LA & we took just under 2000 photos.
I had to buy a extra card when we were in Disneyland......oops

I have been to DLR quite a few times, and on the last trip (it was DS3's 2nd time and DS2's 1st) I still managed to take over 1400 photos in 5 days! :scared1: But I am a scrapbooker and love having lots of photos to work with!

As most here know, I'm a nut when it comes to photographing DL. I've been several times now, but I still take lots of pictures.......our last trip this past July was well in excess of 3000 and that's including a lot of restraint on my part. Using my DSLR, I used about 32 gigs of memory for those shots. I like capturing the ambience for the most part, both during the day and at night with a tripod. I also try to find the details that aren't so apparent as you are strolling about. And, of course, the kids and the magic that surrounds them. :goodvibes

The best advice I can give is simple.......take a picture of EVERYTHING. :thumbsup2

Having a fascination with photography, I had to go take a peek at all your pictures. You're pictures are all amazing, but it seems you come alive when taking pictures "in the dark". The picture you have of Sully, without Boo, on day 2(?) of your trip is B-E-A-U-tiful. I love love love it! I love the way he seems to pop off that screen. Also, your DIS profile pic is a great series too. I love the touch of movement in the pictures with the different phases of dusk as a backdrop. It seems to capture what I imagine PP to be, it's boardwalky (notice my skills at making up words ) and fun and inviting. However, my favorite picture of the ones I looked at was of what I assume is mainstreet, with the castle at the end, the streak of fireworks above? Ummm, can you say "that belongs on a postcard"? It screams Disneyland! Anyway, just wanted you to know...:worship:

Oh, one last thing, can you happen to be going to Disneyland at the same time as my family, and happen to follow us around the park doing a photo journal? :rotfl:

Thank you very much for all of the kind words. I really do appreciate that. As far as following your family around the park. Sure thing. But, I will require a steady stream of churros followed by a few dole whips! ;)
