I always hear of people, my family especially, who constantly get phone calls regarding DVC. We have never, ever gotten one. Not once in our ten+ years of owning.

We have only been "in" for 2 years now. No phone calls, but a couple of weeks ago we got a mailing from a company in Texas in reference to selling our "timeshare" through them.

I have never gotten a phone call, Rich, but I have gotten a couple mailings from timeshare brokers looking for me to sell ours.

I can't remember getting any calls either, just an occassional mailing.

Hey Rich, maybe they figure us "oldtimers" are now living on a fixed income and can't afford another timeshare.;) ;) ;)

Funny, with all the comments we have seen on these boards and what I have heard from my family, I am surprised at how many people never get calls.

Also, its nice to see that so many of us have phones. Just goes to show that DVC owners are mostly well off.....

No phone calls, but we started receiving inquiries by mail from ERA Storman in Texas about 2 weeks after we closed on our resale this past April. They must have someone camped out at the registry of deeds office!

The mailings were about "selling your timeshare", and arrived about once a month. I finally called and asked to be removed from their mailing list.

The person I spoke with was pleasant enough and when he found out I wasn't interested in selling, he wanted to know if I wanted to buy another timeshare! :p

Anyway, no mailings since I called...

Only one or two that we've actually answered. With the advent of caller ID on the phone, we have stopped picking up "unknown caller" and "out of area" calls, letting it go to the answering machine instead. The vast majority of these are nuisance calls and anyone who really wants to reach us will stay on the line and leave a message. We can always pick up the phone at that point if we want to talk to the caller. I have no problem at all ignoring a ringing phone (I figure if it's important enough, the caller will leave a message), but it took DW a while to suppress the reflex action of answering the phone whenever it rings.

I consider myself "getting by" Rich, but a DVC and a phone are two little luxuries I allow myself!:p :p :p :p :p

I've never had DVC cold call me, but I wish all those other dang timeshare people would stop!

Don't forget the mailings asking to give names of your friends and relatives to them. Got those yesterday with the postcards and "Members are Magical" magnets.

I am curious regarding phone calls and/or mailings to DVC members asking to sell their DVC membership........Have any of your DVC purchases been through the resale market or all through DVC? Have you ever rented out points? I would be extremely surprised that they would get your names from Disney.

They get them from the courthouse off the recording. I have 2 contracts. One in just my name, one with DW listed jointly. I usually get 2 of everything, listed both ways.

I have three timeshares and the only thing I have ever received was a letter once every two months from Texas asking if I wanted to sell my timeshare in Thirsten (sp?) England. I finally called after a year of receiving these, and throwing them away, and said yes I do want to sell this timeshare, but I don't own one there, but sell it anyway. They have corrected their records and no more letters.

Never, but we do have "call screening" so no solicitations can be made to our number.

A while ago (maybe 1 year ago) we received a call asking us to participate in a discussion group regarding DVC. We declined. It was the only call we ever received. We don't get any mail that isn't sent from DVC.

Nope, not a single call.
We have privacy manager on our phone, so any call that comes in that does not show a name or number gets screened and if I want them to go away, I press #4. :)

How come I seem to be the only one getting phone calls????!!??!?! I have told them I will NEVER sell. I get a card from Conroe TX around every 3-4 months about selling!!

Well will they get it that I won't sell????

Never, but very few places can solicite sells info to NV.DVC not being one of them.Every other month or so we get a solicitation from Marriot's timeshare program offering us a "free" stay at the Newport Beach Ca property.Interesting as the land was formally owned by Disney at one time when it was entertaining the idea of putting a resort there.

A month ago I got a call to come to a meeting to discuss our DVC membership and how to use it better. I was immediately suspicious and also curious so instead of the usual hang up I asked some more details and the person rattled off something about RCI and I immediately informed her DVC was not even affiliated with RCI before hanging up on her.

Ralph,

As Gail has said in an earlier post, you should check into caller ID with "Privacy Manager". It is even better.
1.Your phone doesn't ring at all for unknown, private, out of area callers.
2.If the caller is one of the above, they get a message saying to record there name or business.........if they don't ,your phone doesn't even ring.
3.If they record there name....then your phone rings, and you have the option to pick it up or go to the answering machine;)

Back to the OP, we have never been called in 4 years.
