How many people never leave WDW while on vacation?

Just curious...
How many stay on site & never leave (except to go to and from the airport)? Seems like there is enough at the world for a 2 week vacation! Who does WDW stuff other then the parks (FW activities, golf, boating, resort hopping, etc)? Any recommendations for fun activities outside of the parks?

The only things we've left the Disney property for are:

- grocery shopping
- other shopping (we bought a digital cameral last year)
- church

Other than those times, we've not felt the need to get off-site.

Non-park things we've done include:

- Community hall at BWV (that 's where we stay)
- Chillin' in the room
- Swimming
- Boating (from DTD once and from BC once)
- Checking out other resorts
- Shopping at DTD
- Hanging out on the Boardwalk
- Surrey bikes
- Campfire at Fort Wilderness
- Water pageant from beach at Fort Wilderness

We've not tried mini-golf yet, be we may do that sometime.

The time that I stayed onsite I never left WDW. When I stay off-site I only go back & forth to the hotel. This time I did go through the drive-in of a McDonald's on the way back to the room one night but that's all.

We don't really leave WDW when we stay onsite b/c we don't have a rental car, and to be honest, we love Disney so much, and go at a slower pace with the kids, so we try not to include any "outside" activities. (is that the longest sentence ever??:teeth: )

We don't leave, either. We don't rent a car, and there's just so much to do, including doing nothing at all, that we still haven't gotten tired of being on the property!

I dont like to leave WDW because why should I leave perfection and remind myself of the real world when on vacation!!!!

We have never left the grounds in our 8 trips except once when we went to Seaworld the first afternoon we arrived. One day we may venture over to that other theme park that some people like better than Disney, but we have just never felt the need to leave Disney.

Fun things to do outside the parks?
- Eat somewhere at the Boardwalk or Beach Club and either rent a Surrey Bike or walk around the lake.
- Hoop de Doo Review
- Make time for the pool, weather permitting.
- Visit another resort that you may want to stay at one day and dine there. Boma's at AKL is good, and we loved the AKL.

I guess most of my suggestions revolve around eating! Hey, it's vacation! Enjoy!!!

Leave Disney???? Is there life beyond those gates? LOL

Unless we are off site, nope, we do not leave Disney. We make a grocery stop on the way in and then we don't come out until it's time to head home!

The year I took my dancers I got there a day ahead of them and we stayed at Caribe Royale (which is nice by the way). We had to go into Disney to pick up all of our tickets ... I thought my body would reject the idea of entering the World to only turn right back around and leave again! Arrrrgggh. But I made it! :-) At least I got to go back the next day when we checked in to All Stars!

In 5 trips to WDW when we have stayed at a Disney resort we've only left for softball games (fall 03 trip - reason for being there- as if we needed a reason) and even some of them were at the Disney Sports Complex. On our first trip ('92) we went to seaworld first day since we were early for checkin time. (Little did we know what all could be done because you can leave your bags if your rooms not ready.)

The one time we stayed off site was only for 2 days and we just went back and forth to WDW and a stop at the grocery store as we were staying in a place w/ a kitchen.

I have heard there are actually other things to do but who has the time.;)

I leave property once every trip - and that's to go to the Disney outlet store! Otherwise, I stay put....... There's enough to see and do on-site. I've never had a desire to visit other attractions in the area. Besides, I'm a big golfer and the courses on Disney property are fantastic (especially with an AP discount).

the first year we left property to go to Sea World - last trip we never left the property.

And did not leave property once. :wave2:

No e-mail. :earseek:

Told work that the place had better be in flames before they called me. pirate:

Only cell phone calls were between the wife and I ("Where are you now?") :chat:

Did not watch the news once during the stay.

Piled up the newspapers and did not crack them.

It was fantastic! :teeth:

There was only one time we have stayed on property that we never left and that was nice. The only complaint that I have about Disney property though is that I cannot afford deluxe so we end up at moderate hotels where I feel that there just isn't enough space to move around in the room. We enjoy going back the the hotel in the afternoon and relaxing a bit and or changing getting to and from the pool so its important to me that we have enough space to do that. Last October we stayed at HIFS which was suprisingly nice and I was very amazed that I didn't really miss the feeling of being on Disney property (at least for lodging) and I had plenty of room (2 room Kidssuite). Obviously this really depends on the hotel you stay at. One thing that I did notice during that stay was that when we did venture to that "other" park I could no help but compare them to WDW and when you do that you notice how they try and fail (IMHO) to do it the way Disney does it. I like a few of the rides over there but I am usually itching to get back on Disney property by the time we leave. One thing I do miss about sleeping off site is the length of stay passes. Its nice that you can go to the parks for an hour or two at the end of the day after returning from elsewhere or for a couple of hours before heading to the airport.

We usually travel to Disney 3 times a year and stay around 10 days. We have left WDW to go to Celebration to stroll the streets and shop a bit. It is a very relaxing place. We also left the property the last time to go to the book store. I guess we spent way to much time at the pool, that my husband read a whole book and needed another one.

Other than those 2 outings, we just never leave the property.

We just got back from a week stay at WDW. Once we hit the "Walt Disney World" sign, we are there and stay there for the whole vacation.

We do all the parks, TL, camfire sing along, swimming, and shopping. We only watch D-TV, all the Disney info shows and the Disney Channel movies. I tried to watch the Weather Channel but DH had a fit because I was turning to a non-Disney channel.

All Disney, all the time:D

We always have a towncar or limo pick us up at the airport to take us to the resort. Once we're there we don't venture out to the real world again until it's time to leave. That is the whole idea of WDW for me...it's like entering another (carefree) world!

We never leave, even when we have our own car with us. In fact, one year our video camera broke and we ended up buying a new one, way overpriced, in the MK.
When people ask where I am going I say "Disney World". I never say Florida. ;)

Once I'm in Disney, I don't leave property until the drive to the airport-- leaving seems to detract from the magic I feel there.

mariamouse

That is my dream! When we went to Disneyland last year we stayed onsite and I loved being in the Disney cocoon all week. We left one day to go to Universal and I wish we hadn't.
