Can anyone give me a rough idea? We are planning to bring 2 strollers when we go, for us it's way to expensive to rent since I have them anyway. I'm wondering how many strollers there will be on the bus to the pop. Is it like 1 in 10 people bring thier own? Also does anyone know if there is an area on the bus for strollers, or do you just hold it between your feet?

I have no idea about statistics, but i do know that there is no designated place on the bus for your strollers. You have to hold it yourself. Beware if it's standing room only you will be holding that, your children and any bags/packages you may have. It is a pain to lug them around, but can save you money from renting daily.
The past couple of years we have purchased new strollers from the local Walmart when we arrive in Orlando. When we are leaving we find a family who may need one. I have no use for them at home since DD's do not need them at home.
This year we will be renting them since my DD's 5 and 7 are too big for an umbrella stroller, but will fit nicely into the ones at WDW. They are petitle and tire easily so I know that they will need one there. I know that it will be costly, but it's what will best fit our need.

I bring 2 umbrella strollers and I have clips that attach the two together (got at Toys R US). They are great I can move quickly around people when they are apart or I can hook them up an keep the two toghether when parking them for rides or while my older son & hubby go on a ride toghether! Umbrella's are easy to get on and off the busses too!

Im renting one for the length of stay. I dont want the hassle of lugging it on and off the bus, especially at night when the buses get crowded.

We always take our own strollers. At night when the bus is packed it can be a pain to hold the stroller, baby and all your other things. Most people on a bus will give up their seat for someone trying to hold a baby and a stroller but you can't always count on that being the case. We always have a big group so we can split everything up and it works for us but if it is just one or two adults it will be more difficult. I like our own strollers because they recline and the children can nap right in the stroller also it can be a long walk and wait for a bus or to your room and we like being able to use the stroller for that. Bottom line I say if you want your own and it will save you money take them. If you find it is too hard day one you can always leave them in the room and rent. Just watch what you load on and in the stroller in the morning you must fold it up on the bus and if those items need to be removed to do so it will be that much more you have to carry!:thumbsup2

We take our own too.

Our first trip with kids I got a mid-sized Evenflo (a bit bigger then an umbrella) & it was great & light since I had been using the cadddy (the stroller system stroller).

Then when we went the 2nd time with kids, we took that Evenflo & we got a Jeep umbrella. It was still OK since there were 2 of us & 2 kids.

When we go in 2008, I have a Joovy & that is all I am taking because my oldest will be 7 1/2 & she should be walking for most of the time & my middle child will be just shy of 5 so the two of them can swap walking/sitting/standing & the baby will be 2 ½ so she will sit unless we let her out.

But one stroller, 3 kids, 1 diaper bag & a small cooler to keep our water cold, oh & hopefully I can ditch the diaper bag & the baby will be PT-OK now I got OT.

I didn't find the buses too bad with a stroller other then all the 'luggage' we carried with us to the park but we tried to avoid the bus as much as possible & take the monorail or boat. And you won't be the only one with a stroller so most people will have empathy for you.

We always take our own. We tried to rent once and DS found it to be very uncomfortable (too hard even with a towel or blanket in it for cushioning).

Kerri - I'm glad to hear you didn't find the busses too bad with a stroller. We are taking 2 strollers, not only to save money, but also because of many reasons mentioned above (they have nice baskets, they recline, we'll use them outside the park, etc). I just laugh at the thought of myself with all the strollers, baggage, kids, etc trying to get on and off the bus. I'm sure I'm not the only one though!

We rent too. But my kids are older, 4 and 5. The rented ones are more expensive, but the girls are able to get in and out of it by themselves, and they have good mobility. We don't even own a stroller anymore. I can't say I miss those days, but there are tons of folks getting on and off the bus with their strollers. I always offer to help, when I see the parents juggling the baby, stroller, bags, other children..if anyone offers you help, don't be afraid to accept. :lmao:

We have a double jogger that we bring..It is big, but on the bus I take the girls with me on the bus and they let DH load at the wheelchair entrance and he just stands out of the way. Of course if the bus gets too crowded we just wait for the next one to come.

Same here. My kids wouldn't fit in any stroller I could buy. When they were smaller, we did bring out own stroller. Having done it numerous times both ways, I think I'd rather rent.

We rent. It is just easier for me. I often go to WDW without DH, and that means I am the one carrying everything. There is simply no way I can carry our bag, hold my daughter's hand, and lug a stroller on and off the bus. It is just easier for me to rent.

We rent at the parks because my kids like sitting next to each other in Disney's stroller.

I took my sit and stand stroller with us on one trip and it was difficult to fold and take on the bus. One time the bus driver started to leave while I was folding it up. I don't recommend taking a sit and stand. It also is very bulky in the bus aisle.

Umbrella strollers work great because they fold up smaller.

Have fun on your trip!

For the cost of a one week rental I could buy a stroller.

We take ours.

sorry to hijack,
This is our first trip in a loooong time, and my first ever with a child. I'm going to take my jogging stroller. It's not as big as some joggers, but I'm still worried that it may be a pain. But the cost of a rental for 8 days is to much!
We are off site so the bus will not be a problem but how is the monorail with strollers?

In the parks it seems to be more brought than rented strollers but there are still a lot of rented ones around the park as well. Maybe it's 60/40?

On the buses I've never seen more than 2 besides my own.

You have to keep the stroller by you. No special place to put them.

I prefer bringing my own but now my youngest is too big for a regular stroller (she's 7). So now if I had a trip planned, I would rent if I needed one.
