Go just once a year. I bought them last year and just to get concierge rooms cheper at Poly, BWI and AK. I got great deals but as the yr went on I started to feel cheap and wanted to get my moneys worth out of them so I book a trip the last minute. How many of you buy the AP and just use it once or are you all like me and feel you need to use them more then once to be justified to get your monies worth? :D

Last Dec, I went for 8 days so no matter what, I pretty much was going to break even (maybe off by about $10 or so) even if I didn't go back again. So I did feel like I was going to get my monies worth. It is just an added perk that I can go back in a few weeks and not have to worry about park admission. I would feel like I got my monies worth if it saved me money as well on hotels. As long as I didn't pay more total than what I would have w/o the AP, I feel like I get my monies worth. I hope that made sense :)

My AP burns holes in my pockets. I just have to have more than one trip.

Last year I had 4. So far, I only have 3 planned for this year, but I'm trying to convince DH that I should go in October too. I've never been to WDW in October. I need to go then, don't you think, Gail?

I bought our AP's for our December trip. It saved us enough money that it justified it for that one trip. But now, I feel like I NEED to go back in order to get my money's worth. I also have to R/T airline vouchers that expire the same time as my APs. So I NEED to go back before December.

I wanted to go in August, but the AP discounts aren't enough. I may wait until October. (I'll be getting my back child support sometime around then too.)

We bought them for the first time last year and went three times. Two seven night trips and one three night trip.
I renewed them and we just plan on using them that last eight night stay last January.
But they are cheaper to renew and saved me a few hundred on the room rate. So I feel like they were worth it. :)

We bought AP's last Sept for a 10 day trip. We had no plans to go back. Famous last words

DH and I went in Feb for a 4 night anniversary trip

We all went for 10 nights in April

And DD and I will be going for a week in late Aug.

I don't think I saved a bit of money though lol. Oh well, I've had a great time and gotten my monies worth :)

Between a vacation last July 4th, a one day trip in November (between the time we got off the Disney Magic and when we flew home at 4PM), 13 days during December for DIScon 2002, and our planned 15 day vacation during the last two weeks of June, I'd say that I'm getting my money's worth out of my AP.

The number of trips that I've made over the past 12 months in uncharacteristic. Our goal is to squeeze two WDW vacations onto each AP. As helenabear pointed out, a regular AP breaks even at around 8 days. After that, you are essentially getting into the parks "free". That's why DW Sue and I didn't think twice about driving over to WDW for a half day visit to the Food & Wine festival last November. We had APs. All we needed was transportation to/from Epcot. We would never have considered a half-day trip to the parks if we had had to pay $50 each to get into the park.

Being DVC members, we have never taken advantage of any AP rates on accommodations at WDW. We just like the freedom to come and go as we please that the AP provides.

You never know when we might "drop by" WDW. :teeth:

I usually only get one trip in, but since they are always at least a week, I still come out ahead. I'm hoping to try to squeeze in a 2nd this year, though!

I agree with you, I think you are 110% right and you can tell you husband I said so. :teeth:

I have to get my moneys worth and try to get in atleast 2 trips out of ne AP. Otherwise I feel like I didn't get my moneis worth...Besides it sounds good when I pitch it that way to DH ;)

We relocated due to employment to SC, which is half the distance to WDW as VA was.
I gave my DH an AP for his birthday, and he gave me one for Christmas on the same day.
Our employer is really liberal with time off, so we work ahead for one week a month, and then take a 3 day weekend. The only months that we don't go down (usually) is July and August. Last year we went in July for our anniversary, this year we're actually going somewhere else, because it's a milestone anniversary (30).

Between the weekends and a longer trip in December, we definitely get value for our passes!!:p

We go once a year, and then we go the following year again before they expire.:D

AP are not cheap...not for me! I would like to have APs but unfortunately we only go once a year. This year its 2X. And AP discount for rooms are not guaranteed for whatever time frame we can go. If only we were living close to Disney...no doubt..I will be buying our APs.

With a CM in the family, we bought our first AP's on the 2nd of 3 trips last year. We'll probably use them two more times before they expire in September with a total of around 18-20 days total.

I posted a ? about AP's on another board asking if there was a downside to them....the replies only reaffirmed what I already assumed.....I'd just be planning more and more trips to get the most use out of them!!!!!!

We have a family reunion trip Oct 2004, we just won a trip which we are scheduling for our spring break, we will be spending the week after New Year's with family in Sarasota, and could probably squeak in a trip in the summer some time.....do you guys think we should get AP's?????????;)

Count up your total planned days in the parks, and if the number is 7 or higher- you might want to consider an annual pass.

If you have days scheduled to enjoy the water parks, Pleasure Island, Disney Quest or Wide World of Sports, you'd want to add those days to your total also.

The "break even" point on a 4 park Annual Pass is 7 days, and I believe the "break even" point on the Premium Annual Pass is 11 or so.

Good luck with your decision!!:smooth:
