How many outfits to bring?

Curious as to how many outfits others usually bring for a trip to disney. We have DS8, DD5 & DD2 and we'll be at disney for 9 days. We'll be staying at the Poly so no w/d in our room but we'll probably do laundry half way through our trip. Don't really want to but I don't think it can be avoided!

Has anyone tried Tide in-sink tablets and washed a few things in their room? Also is their adequate room in the bathroom to hang wet items? Thanks for any opinions/advice.

Editted to add we're going in October.

I usually pack 2 outfits per person per day. 3 pairs of P.J and 3 bathing suits. I stay in a 1 BR with a W/D so I come home with clean clothes. I am sure you can find somewhere in the BR to hang the suits. You may want extra clothes for your baby.. Have fun

Definitely extra clothes for the baby. Thats about what I was thinking - 1 outfit/day and then 2 or 3 more outfits for extras. The baby will definitely have 2 outfits/day.

I was thinking I might do the resort laundering service for the things that have gotten real dirty/stained. I know its expensive but if I budget for it that can be my disney gift to myself. Or when we have a down day then maybe I'll do laundry - I'm sure I'll need some time to myself. Get out of the room by myself maybe get a drink and relax while the washer & dryer are running.
Thanks for the advice.

I pack 1 per person per day plus a few extras. I pack 2 per kid per day. I still end up doing 1 or 2 loads while there. I kind of enjoy it....DH gets the kids washed and in bed and I get to relax!!!!!

Excellent idea & good timing. Bedtime - its always crazy for us so thats a good time to say "gotta go do laundry!" Thanks!

We stayed at the Polynesian and I also did laundry while my husband put the kids to bed. I usually take a walk to the shops in the cermonial house while I am waiting for the clothes. I have five kids which equals alot of laundry. I usually bring 2 pj's, one swimsuit and 4-5 days of clothes for each child. We always swim mid-afternoon and change into different clothes for dinner.

Good luck and have a great trip. We love the Polynesian.

For an 8-day trip, we usually take about 4-5 outfits each. I don't have infants anymore, but I would take more for a baby. I always do laundry at least once per trip, usually pretty late at night while the kids are in the pool. I also have fewer vacation type clothes than the kids and always seem to have a couple of "most comfortable shorts, capris, or jeans". I've learned that we'll be buying t-shirts and the kids (and me too) will want to wear some of those. If we fly down, it also saves room in our luggage that I know I'm going to need for souvenirs on the way home!

I'm a light packer, so I don't mind washing a load while I am there. I have also been known to wash a t-shirt or tank in the sink and hang to dry in the bathroom. I don't usually pack a sweatshirt since I know I'll want to buy a new one when I get there. I do bring a duffel bag with snacks and water bottles and then at the end of the trip it becomes the souvenir bag. :)

Yikes, I guess I am an overpacker!!

But seriously - we were 2 adults staying at Pop century for 6 days, and we each packed 2 full outfits per day (including socks and underwear). This worked great because we would be up early for park opening, come back to the hotel around 2 or 3 for a nap and a swim, and go back to a park (usually Epcot for dinner in World Showcase, our favorite place!) for the evening. And I ALWAYS wanted to put on fresh clothes in the evening, not the smelly ones from earlier in the day. Although my "evening clothes" tended not to get very dirty or sweaty so I rewore those a couple of times. We did not do any laundry (packed mostly comfy shorts and tank tops, didn't take up much room).

There is a clothesline in the Pop Century bathroom, so if you brought some clothespins it would be very easy to wash and hang smaller things in the tub!

Edited to add: I am super cold-natured, and even to WDW in June I packed about 4-5 light sweaters/jackets to wear whenever we were anywhere inside. I always freeze to death in the AC! So if you pack those things it takes up a bit more room.

Hi! I am also going in Oct to the Poly for 9 nights. I have a DS10, DS7, and DD 5. When is your trip??

Another DIS member gave me a fab idea of putting a complete outfit per child in a gallon size ziplock back. Write the day of week if you want certain items for certain parks... This keeps everything orgainized in the suitcase and the kids more independent for grab and go. I am going to try it when I go adding a couple of extras as well. I am always digging through looking for something for someone. I never use the dresser...

Does anyone use the dresser drawers??

Good luck with your trip!!:)

Mickey2Minnie1....I always use the dresser drawers. I can't relax until I've unpacked everything and organized the room. Yeah, I know I must be just a hoot to vacation with.

Wow - more replies! I love the disboards!

Sounds like most everybody packs 1-2 outfits per day per person. And most everyone does a load or 2 or laundry. I guess I could too. Hopefully it won't take that long.

mickey2minnie1: Love the ziploc packing stragedgy. We used it before and its very handy. Kudos to you for putting the day of the week on each bag. :thumbsup2 I couldn't do that I have a hard time choosing which outfits to bring let alone what day they should wear them on. We're going that first week in October. As far as dresser drawers - I'll use them but keep the clothes in the ziplocs just because it took so long to pack all the outfits in the bags plus I think the clothes stay neater.

darlak: I'm just like you. I need to "make my nest" prior to relaxing.

Thanks to all for the tips - definitely will pack sweatshirts as the plane can be chilly as well. I did find a travel laundry kit online - I haven't bought it - not sure I will. But it had packets of Woolite, sink stopper & clothesline w/suction cups. We'll see.

Thanks again.

I refuse to do laundry on vacation unless absoultely necessary. We only have DD age 2 though. If we had more kids I am sure we would end up doing a load or two. I have never put our clothes in the dresser in a hotel either. However we do bring a garment bag and take them out and hang up our dresses, pants, and other wrinkle-prone items at the hotel. I too plan to put DD clothes in ziplock bags with the matching hair bows/barretes and socks, so I don't have to search through a suitcase for a tiny sock at 7am to make it to the rope drop. I am an avid planner but avoid cooking and cleaning while on vacation if at all possible.

I have done laundry on 2 trips of of maybe 6 or 7, but we always have laundry (DVC). The first was our longer trip in the summer and the other was when someone got sick.

This is the more important tip: Bring a change of clothes in a plastic bag for the 2 and 5 year olds, maybe even for the 8 year old. We got really really stuck on Test track once and there was an accident. Replacing clothes inside the parks is expensive!$!$! Bring a set and leave them in the bottom of the stroller, just in case......
