How many outfits are you packing?

We are going for 7 nights/8 days. I DO NOT want to do laundry while we are there, however I think I way overpacked last year.

How many outfits do you pack for your children? Rule of thumb I usually pack two outfits per day in case of spills and accidents. Additonally we go to the park in the morning and then come back to swim/nap and then go to dinner and/or the parks in the evening so we change clothes so we aren't in the same stinky/sweaty clothes all day.

Do you think two per day is too much?

My biggest dilemma is underwear. How many do you pack? I know at least one a day but what if there are accidents or you get wet. My mother makes fun of me because I packed like 25 pairs of underwear for each of us :earseek:

If you're not going to do any laundry and plan on changing mid-way thru the day, then two outfits per person per day seems ok. It'll be a lot to pack, but you won't have to do any laundry. Each outfit would consist of underwear as well as tees and pants.

I don't mind doing laundry and since we're staying at a condo with it's own washer/dryer I'm only planning on 3 or 4 outfits per person. The only long pants we'll have will be the ones worn on the plane. But with 5 people thats still a LOT of clothes.

How old are your kids? I've known some little kids who could use 3 tees a day, but I'm not calling any names!

When laundry is not an option, I agree that two outfits per day for kids is a minimum and I usually throw in a few extra shirts, shorts and socks. Seems like they always run out. Fresh undies are a must if you take a break in the middle of the day, particularly if the kids swim then shower.

I personally prefer to do a bit of laundry when it's convenient rather than face all that when we get back home. Also, you have fewer permanent stains that way. We only stay in places with washers and dryers readily available. With six people, I consider that a must for more than three or four day stays.

Pack a stain stick and rub a lot of it onto any stains if you're not planning on laundry right away.

I pack two outfits per day, per person (including underwear), since we also like to shower and change for dinner.

Wow I just do Laundry ( hate to at home but love to on Vaca!? for a 10 day trip I only pack 5 outfits and wear one so a total of 6 !! My kids are 10 & 7 altho I do always pack 10 undies and 10 socks ) any how if i couldn't then I would pack enough for the 15 days -- somedays you wouldn't need 2 outfits and some days you would or make a schedule of where and what you are doing each day -- like on the AK day then yea 2 outfits because of Kali river but on a MK day would you really need 2 ??

will you buy stuff out there? We nearly always buy some t-shirts and then want to wear them. We also plan on wearing shorts twice. We go for 2 weeks, so I couldn't possibly take 28 outfits! so we know we will have to do laundry at least once, and it's not really that painful - I usually do it while everyone is in the pool (as the laundry room is near the pool).

I usually carry a spare outfit in case of spills or accidents, but since it doesn't usually get used, I carry the same outfit again the following day -so you don't really need 2 everyday unless you are likely to have spills every day?

usually 2 at them minimum for the kids for each day- sometimes a extra shirt. always double the underwear for dd- she changes them like twice a day. lol! I always have more than they ever wear since I always pack clothes for weather issues just in case. :sunny:

I will be packing one per day then 2 extra outfits per person. i am already bringing 3 suitcases and 4 carryons for 4 people.

I also bring 2 outfits per day. I don't do laundry on vacation. BUT, what I have been doing the last few trips is taking the laundry to a laundry service in Orlando. We drive down so we have the car. I looked in the yellow pages and found a laundrymat close by dw. We bring the dirty clothes in the morning and by that evening their done. Washed and pressed. It's just great. We usually stay for 2 weeks and even though I bring enough clothes to dress a small army, just knowing that the clothes are done is a relief for me. It usually costs around 20.00, depending upon how many lbs. there is, but it sure beats doing it myself. I don't have the name or adress of the place, but if your interested, just look in the yellowpages or do a search online. Its a great thing for me not to do laundry.

Does anyone think its necessary to pack sweatshirts for this time of year? DH always likes to be prepared but I think that would be overkill on the packing? right?

curly

Can you say 9 more days!!!!

Curly I would bring one per person only because with the A/C it can get chilly not to mention if you get the slightest burn then when the sun goes down you will feel cool as well.. Have a GREAT Trip !!!! Michelle
