But then my girls got a bit older and entered school and I realized that I feel better when I put some effort into how I look and I do have a DH that I'd like impress once in awhile. He doesn't like a lot of make up but he certainly appreciates my getting dressed in something other then sweats, wearing perfume, showering, and fixing my hair once in awhile. I know I'd be a bit bummed out if it was the other way around and DH dressed like a bum, didn't shower, didn't try to look presentable.
So now I'm out of that rut and I see the light. I don't wear expensive clothes though, but they are certainly nicer then sweats. I do it for myself and my DH.
To each their own, though.

Stacey2grls said:I have to admit, I was offended by the posts stating "I don't need makeup". I did feel that was somewhat rude. Everyone does have the right to do whatever they want. I myself have stated that I wear makeup everyday and do my hair and get dressed in a cute outfit, but this is me. I don't feel that other women are "bums" because they don't wear makeup, or wear cute sleep PJ's out. I just don't feel the need to try and cut someone down.

Glad you saw the light. Now if only the rest of us unbathing, make up free, sweatpant wearing ladies saw the light too. I'm sure our husbands would be so much happier.![]()
I agree.

What's wrong with sweats? There are some really cute ones out there. They are warm when it's snowing out like it is now, and they are comfortable. DH and I both wear them around the house. So I guess if we are in a rut we are in it together. The couple that wears sweatpants together stays together.![]()

beattyfamily said:You took offense to my post stating my opinion and my situation? If so very sorry. No insults were meant by that. I was only stating how I was and am. Period. I didn't mean to offend anyone who wears sweats or doesn't wear make up.
I felt I was in a rut, being lazy and letting myself go. I didn't do things I did when I worked. I admit when the girls were smaller, I'd go a couple of days without a shower. I used to wear make up before being a mom, but then I stopped. I never wore sweats unless I was going to the gym but once I was home, I'd wear sweats or the same outfits all the time. Now, I'm out of that rut I was in. I feel better. I put more of an effort into how I look and it has affected the way I feel. I am doing it for myself and for my DH, who by the way has never complained about my appearance. He would never do that, but I know he'd prefer me to put somewhat of an effort into how I look like I did when I worked.
Sorry if anyone was offended by my comments on MY life.[/QUOTe/]
Yes you were talking about YOU. In my posts I was talking about ME yet I get slammed because I said I don't wear a bunch of goo and I don't need it. I was talking about me. Of course if others feel they need make up and like goo then more power to them. To each his own as you say. LOL!
skiwee1 said:I really hate that phony look.

ChrisnSteph said:I think this could be construed as being offensive and snide to those that choose to wear makeup. Not everyone who uses makeup looks phony, just like not everyone who chooses not to looks like a bum.

skiwee1 said:I was being honest. I think make up is phony. That is why I don't like to wear it around the house. No one has eyelashes that are thick and full. If they did then they wouldn't wear mascara. Make up is so obvious. As I said in my earlier post that I do wear Bare Escentials when DH and I go our somewhere fancy. We go to a lot of formals and I just want to glam it up. For me to wear make up while scrubbing a floor or DISing would be ridiculous. It doesn't mean I'm scruffy or that my DH is unhappy.![]()
To each their own.ChrisnSteph said:Not many people have flawless complexions either, and if you did you wouldn't need Bare Escentials, which is just as phony as mascara. There's no difference. So you want to glam it up for formals, I want to glam it up for my husband, or myself. What constitutes beauty is all subjective anyway. Heck, some women think they don't need to shave - anywhere. And some men find that sort of "natural" beautiful. To each their own.
