I always get dressed in a nice pair of jeans and shirt. I usually put on make up, but my make up consisits of tinted moisturizer ( I figure I put on moisturizer anyway, might as well make it even out my skin) mascara and blush.

Only if I'm going somewhere where I'll see people. Otherwise, I don't even bother.

::yes:: Or if we're having people over to our house.

Doesn't seem worth it to me to
-spend the time
-use up the make-up faster
-have the make-up on my skin for longer/more often than it needs to be

Now, moisturizer with SPF is another thing...that I use almost every day ;)

To me I don't wear makeup because I feel I "need it" I just like to look my personal best.

I freak when I have to go out in public b/c I have to shower and actually do something with my hair. I don't get to shower everyday (or every other, usually :rotfl: ) since I have a 6m old and 2.5 yr old who are on opposite schedules.
It probably takes me like 30 min to get dressed in something other than my black fleece pants b/c I try on EVERYTHING in my closet. The only makeup I wear is eyeliner (DH tells DD's , "mommy needs to draw on her eyes.")
I also don't pull my hair back (like it is 99.9%of the time) when I'm out.

Who knew it was so tough to be a SAHM? :confused3

It depends on the day for me.

I always go through my skincare routine, but I may not put actual makeup on if I'm not leaving home.

Nope I'm' generally a bum. I am NOT a morning person at all. I can hardly get out of my pj's and get DS to school on time let alone shower/makeup/hair.

I usually have it done by pick up time but a lot of days I just don't care. Now if we are going out I always get done up.

I never wore makeup when I worked and I don't now. I have even been known to walk out the door to drive my DD to school with my unbrushed hair back in a ponytail. I don't care if I look dumpy. Who am I trying impress anyway?

Lip gloss and a little blush and I am good to go. I usually do it in the car on the way to drop off ds at kindergarten ;) LOL!

That's how I feel, if someone doesn't like the way I look, who cares? Besides I'm cute even when I'm dressed like a bum. ;)
:rotfl:

I always put on makeup, it is some kind of genetic "thing" with me, all women in my family are the same. When the kids would wake up at 3 in the morning for botttles, I would roll out of bed, grab my lipstick and put some on real quick. I know it is weird! :rotfl:

not a SAHM. I work parttime. but thats the only time I wear makeup :rotfl:

Iam a SAHM, and have been one for the last 11 yrs. I do get up and shower each and every morning. BUT, I NEVER wear makeup. My basic style of clothing for the winter is sweats and a t-shirts, and summer its shorts and a t-shirt.
My clothes are clean each and every day, and Im clean each and every day. I find no need to dress up or put make up on.
So put me in the bum category as well :teeth:

I'm a SAHM and in the beginning, I'll admit I was in a rut and I didn't do much to look great. Sweats, no make up, hair not fixed up. After all, all I was doing was babysitting and doing some errands.

But then my girls got a bit older and entered school and I realized that I feel better when I put some effort into how I look and I do have a DH that I'd like impress once in awhile. ;) He doesn't like a lot of make up but he certainly appreciates my getting dressed in something other then sweats, wearing perfume, showering, and fixing my hair once in awhile. I know I'd be a bit bummed out if it was the other way around and DH dressed like a bum, didn't shower, didn't try to look presentable.

So now I'm out of that rut and I see the light. I don't wear expensive clothes though, but they are certainly nicer then sweats. I do it for myself and my DH.

To each their own, though.

get up get dressed presentable & put on makeup? I always feel like such a bum but I don't see any reason to put on makeup when I stay home all day unless its a trip to the bank /grocery store....

Just curious if there are other bums out there..... :rotfl:

I always get dressed presentably, put on make up and do my hair.

I second the motion. I'm a SAHM and I feel so much better when I'm wearing nice clothes and made up a wee little bit.

When I had my second child, I let myself go and I went through a frumpy phrase and I don't want to go back to that time again.

i dont usually do hair and makeup
i have the kids all day and then at night i work
sometimes i do hair adn makeup to go to work
but i dont wanna half the time

I always shower and dress after the girls go to school. My routine is short and simple - I wash and roll my hair every other day but it takes like 5 minutes to dry it and another 5 to curl, so no big deal. I wear eye liner and moisturizer and that's it. I do try to at least wear a warm-up "outfit" or jeans and a nice sweater. I feel better this way. Now, if I have to take DD's to school on choir day or something, I'm in my pj's and my hair's in a ponytail - I'll even run to the dry cleaners this way!

With child #3 coming next summer, who knows how I'll answer this question!!! :teeth:

Okay, I'm *not* a SAHM but I hope I can still answer because there are days that I do stay home.

I try so hard, on those days, just to "let myself go" but I can't. I faced it a long time ago that I'm not one of those "natural beauties." :teeth: I am attractive enough, but I require help. For instance, I have a short, layered hairstyle and I use hair products. When I get up in the morning, because of my cut and what is in my hair, it is standing STRAIGHT UP!! There is no way that I can just not do it. It won't even comb down. I'd love to be able to just put my hair in a ponytail.

Second, I have very dry, sensitive skin and it is red and splotchy often. When I wake up, my skin is very dry and tight (even when I go to bed with cream on it--gues it wipes off). So, I have to clean up and get my face in order.

Believe me, it is a pain in the butt to do all this. I'm fortunate that I can get it all done (shower, hair, makeup) in under 30 minutes, but sometimes it gets so old. I envy those women who show up at the school with their warm-up suits on and their ponytails and look great (but not all of them do). :teeth:

The only thing I'll do without showering, doing makeup and hair is drive DS to school in the morning. The only person who sees me is the safety patrol kid who opens the car door. Otherwise, I won't even answer the door until my hair and makeup are done.

I have a 1yo, 2yo and 5yo home with me all day. I'm lucky if I get in the shower. I never wear makeup if I'm staying home. I don't wear much makeup anymore, if I'm running out I put on foundation and mascara that's it. DH doesn't like the "made up look" anyway.
