How many of ya'll been "bitten" by the Concierge "bug"!

we have the possibility of upgrading from deluxe pool to concierge for 1 wk. in Sept. so i've been reading all related threads... still have questions...
do they really offer robes for use in the room and are the toiletries upgraded? Are the beds identical or possibly better mattresses(wishful thinking...). By chance are there African beers available for dh and dbil? Sorry to sound silly but it will be my 10th anniv. trip and I'm trying to get the most worthwhile options. Thanks from dani in okc...

First of all.....

Yes, you will have robes in your room for use for your room and pool. As for the toiletries, I do believe there are upgraded for concierge.
We usually have several different soaps, shampoo, conditioner, lotion, 1 toothbrush, and toothpaste.

As for the beer, ask for them from the concierge wait staff, during the evening hours. You'll have a choice between Bud Light , Amstel,and an African, or some type of Ethnic brand. DH is the beer drinker.
They will not be out, but please feel free to ask for whatever you'd like from the CMs.
The concierge rooms are larger, as at AKL they are deluxe.
And the balconies over hang the other floors.
(Stick out further)

the beds were very nice, in fact, VERY, very nice!
I can't compare them to the standard AKL beds, as I've only done AKL concierge.

And it's NOT silly to ask.
DH and are celebrating our 10th this Sept ALSO , and I was on the phone today booking the GF RPC deluxe concierge.
Wanted to make sure what kind of jacuzzi tub is in them!
Fred, I tried to get WL honeymoon suite for the same weekend, and could you believe that they're already BOOKED!

We are taking my bil who is an artist and has been to disneyland but never WDW... can't wait to enjoy his enjoyment... also taking dd 5... always cry watching her watch parades...
She enjoyed simbas clubhouse last Oct. so dh and I look forward to some grown up meals and evenings... concierge would be a welcome treat...
forgot to say anniv. is actually late Oct., but dh is classical guitarist and will be doing shows on actual anniv. so I had to fit the trip in where it would work... late Oct. is my fav. time to visit...
one last thing... are there refrigerators in concierge rooms?

At AKL, fridges are provided upon request.
We weren't charged the $10 daily fee.
Do not know if it was because we were concierge or an oversight.

but, we've stayed at alot of concierges, requested a fridge, and never have been charged.
Even when DH pointed it out, they would say "Oh, that's OK, it's on us".
Now, mind you, we DO take them gifts and such, like we discussed earlier on this thread, so maybe that has something to do with it......or maybe just luck.
The CR concierges and Poly automatically have a fridge in the rooms.
Also, mention that you'll be celebrating your 10th!

Never has happened to me personally, but, it seems to come available to alot of other DISers!

Man-o-man! You NEVER know what will happen at check-in at ANY resort or hotel!
Now, off properties, you know, the outsideworld (LOL!)
we usually have upgrades because of my Starwood and Hyatt points and multiple stays.

I know ya'll have better luck than me.
I just book what I want to begin with, pay rack rate sometimes because, like the first page of this thread says...I'm spoiled!

Well, now that you asked!! We've been wondering what to request, as far as room location - I know that the 2nd floor doesn't have balconies, is this a big problem? I need non-smoking (asthma), tikiman says the 3rd floor is smoking so I guess that's out. Any suggestions - we have garden view booked.

I wanted to keep the whole thing a secret from DD, but couldn't help it, had to tell her today we were spending 2 days at the Poly!! I am keeping the concierge level a secret, though!! (yeah, right!!)

Yes, I have spent the whole day looking over all the Poly stuff I could find!!! And, checked w/CRO 3x today - they are gonna be so tired of me!!

Well, I just have to tell you all the we just booked the Poly Lagoon Concierge for the 5/15 to 5/23. Woo! This will be our first stay at the Poly so I guess it's time to visit Tikiman's site and the Poly resort thread. Wonder if they will welcome a "WL Vet" into the ohana.

There was no availability at the Lodge so we took this instead. It is sure going to feel strange not being the Lodge but I am sure that the lagoon view of the castle will help.

Wow, this is a surprise! I've been reading your wonderful WL posts for quite a while, and in my mind you're sort of the king of the WL!

Seriously, we had made plans to go down with our good friends and our dates are kinda...well....we have to go around that time. See, my wife is expecting again. WooohoO! Due some time in late september. So, it was those dates or nothing and I couldn't get a room at Lodge concierge no matter what. Been calling for weeks.

We will stop by to show it off to my good friends though. They have to see my passion for the Lodge.

And, as my fellow VET said, "It's good to try another resort, how can you know the BEST without trying the rest?"

And you'll love the Poly, even though it's not your beloved Lodge!! We have switched allegiance to AKL, but the Poly still holds a special place in our hearts!

I have my favorite concierges, ar least I think they're my favorites, but, in order to serve the DIS as best as I can, it's OUR duty to try as many concierges at all the resorts!

I think I have been struck with Concierge Flu.
I have currently 2 rooms at POFQ reserved, though I am seriously tempted by Poly Concierge or BC Concierge. I stayed at GF SL concierge in September and loved it - It was not about having someone making all my reservations. It was the friendliness of the CMs saying good morning, good afternoon etc.., having drinks and pastries there for us without having to go to a food court, and having a card to enter the building which added to the feeling of security. As I have said before I think you can break even on paying extra through food & service when staying at Concierge level - especially if like us there are 4-5 of you.
I am still deliberating (and enjoying deliberating) what is best - concierge service 1 room or moderate 2 rooms.

Congratulations Fred! What wonderful news, and a great reason to stay at a Disney hotel, concierge level!

Magicmouse2>>You didn't say how many people would be with you/kids ages/ etc, but I think I'd rather cram into a concierge room and have NO foodcourt lines in the morning! The two nights we weren't concierge at AKL we bought donuts the night before at Mara and had them in our room so we could enjoy the scenery/animals. Let us know what you decide!
