Thanks for advice on DS about the Neverland Club, he may change his mind once he is "in the magic". He is 12, almost 13, and unfortunately, they grow up soooo fast!
He will be so excited to be staying in the Poly cl that he may regress a little!

I have booked YC concierge as a surprise for my 16 yo DD. I am taking DD, DS13 and DDBF 15 to WDW as a "Sweet 16' present for my DD.
I have been reading this thread with great interest, and I'm really excited about all the great things I've read about YC concierge but part of me wonders if it might be better to try the Poly instead. We have stayed at the YC before, not Concierge, and my daughter loves it, but I've been impressed by peoples love of the Poly.
Can anyone give me any advice?
Also, is it true that you can't get bottled water anymore? We are going in July and I was counting on bringing bottled water to the parks.
Any input anyone can give me would be appreciated.

Welcome to the thread  My graphics are lame, BT will have better ones!
This is our first stay at the Poly and concierge, and I haven't ever been to the YC, so I can't help you with your choice. I have heard wonderful things about the YC and the concierge service and SAB is fabulous, so I don't think you can go wrong either way. I have heard that they have stopped offering bottled water in the lounges, can anyone back this up?

Just stopping in to say good morning! Getting closer and closer to our vacation in May!!! WooohooO! Can't wait to be sippin on a pina colada by the volcano pool. :) Making lots of our PS requests now.

The Epcot Flower and Garden festival and Star Wars Weekend will be going on while we are down. Anyone have any tips for these two events? Some must see things to do? We've never done either of them.

Lastly, I know this may not be the right place but can anyone PM reviews of Citricos at GF? We have been thinking of eating there this trip.

Fred

I have stayed at both resorts and all I can tell you is that our family (and I have a 16 y/o son; 13 y/o daughter) prefers Polynesian to any other resort we've visited. We've stayed at BC, BWI, AKL, GF, CBR, POR (f/k/a Dixie Landings), and my son and husband have stayed at ASMu on a band trip.

There are no complaints about the other resorts, but our home away from home is the Polynesian. I always thought I'd prefer the decor of GF--stayed there and it is beautiful--just didn't feel as relaxed on our visit compared to our Polynesian paradise. When we stayed at YC, BC, BWI, I thought for certain we would prefer them because we are EPCOT people--nope. Even the SAB pool wasn't an enticement to the teens--major surprise to me!

It's difficult to pinpoint a love or preference for one resort over another. Maybe it's the soft music playing throughout the resort. Perhaps it's those beautiful tiki torches at night along the lighted paths. It might well be the laid back, island feel. Those of us that are enamored of the Polynesian are devout and the resort has a very loyal, long-term following. If you've stayed at YC previously, why not give Polynesian a go--you may fall in love with the ambience. . .you may not, but you'll never know until you try it.

I really hate to "convince" someone about a given resort, a resort love is personal and we all have our own idea of Nirvana--ours just happens to be Polynesian.

I thought that I read an early post on this thread (BT where are you?) regarding bottled water being available in only some of the concierge lounges.

I'll let you know first hand about the YC concierge and the bottled water if you can wait a few days:bounce: ;)

Meantime I'll see if I can find that post.

Have a great trip mom rules. I am sending some pixie dust that you have no crowds and great fun the whole time.

The lounges still offer bottled water, but it is in large glass bottles. They made the switch right in the middle of our November trip last year, and the poor CMs had a guest uprising to deal with. The CMs in the lounge have offered us full bottles to keep in our room for those late night/early morning thirsts, but the take-along plastic bottles are no longer available. This remained true as of our March trip. If you will have a car or are using a town car service, there are numerous places (Publix, Target, Costco) on the way from the airport at which to buy a case of bottled water, which is what we will do this time. They are concentrated around Orange Blossom Trail.

Could you just bring a refillable plastic sports bottle with you and fill them from the glass bottled water?

Thanks Goodferry-I hoping for just that!!

Mom Rules - I'm sure you wouldn't be the only one! Man, look at that counter! I bet you're bouncing like this - :Pinkbounc!

My green-eyed side is coming out also - LOL!!! Darn that counter envy. Ya'll have a wonderful & safe trip!!! :teeth:

Have a wonderful stay at the YC CL, mom_rules!!!!:bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

Sorry, been very busy at store, Easter week and proms.:wave2:

Yes...glass bottled water is available at YC/BC CL's,
I can bet the ranch on that one!::yes::

And refilling your plastic water bottles is what we do!
So, YES, go for it! They are used to having people refill their plastic bottles in the lounge.

We did it at AKL CL, because the "bottled" water is in a pitcher....
no glass bottled water out.

mom_rules, I apologize for not having my pics up yet!
I'm all thumbs about getting this pic web thingie done!
(But, I can animate clippies! Go figure! The artist side of my brain works!):p

Please bring back some more great CL info and pics!
And ENJOY!!!!!!!

Thanks you guys!! I'll do what I can.

(BTW - I love your clippies BT-don't ever stop!)

#1HockeyMom:
On another thread you had asked where you could go to watch games, there is a big screen TV on which they play sporting events at the Tambu Lounge in the Polynesian.

mom_rules.... have a WONDERFUL time!!!1

Woody, no, I haven't stayed at the Poly before, first time CL too!

So this is going to be an exciting trip all the way around. And our first Christmas at WDW. I just simply can't wait....

And I think we're going to just stay at the Poly. I , for a minute thought about trying AKL for a few days so we could do sunrise safari. I have so many firsts packed into this trip, I think I'll put that off until next time.....:) My DD doesn't want to move anyway. The Poly is her dream resort....

255 days.:bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc

mom_rules, have a wonderful vacation! I can't wait to hear all about it when you return.

I am so excited. I got an email back from the concierge and she not only has booked the sunrise safari for use, but she is also taking care of goodies and a birthday cake for my son. I never would have known to do this if it wasn't for the people on this forum. Big group hug. :grouphug:

I told my husband that it didn't look like we were going to be able to upgrade and we would just have to make the best of it :( I really hope I can keep this up until we get there.

Page two? I think not! have a wonderful vacation, momrules!

Goodferry> THANK YOU! That's a hop, skip, and a jump from MK! I can do this! I ended up missing opening playoff night tonight. I NEVER miss this! I caught up on espn but I swear I am cutting it too close as far as hockey luck! We're a very superstitious group! (yes, if anyone wonders... I have had an octopus blessed by a priest... then thrown it on the ice!)

Happy Thursday night! One more work day and the packing can begin!

Debbie

Good morning!

That's great! Congrats. Just a tip though, you may want to reconfirm the cake and stuff about 20 days out from your trip. They promised us that too last year for our september stay at WL Concierge and didn't deliver. No matter though....they made up for it by delivering something while we went out to dinner and the next day, they put us in the VP Suite as an upgrade.

Hope this helps. :)
