Hey, Bambi - We have missed you!! Sounds like you're having quite a weekend!:earseek: Thanks for the hula babes, they're funny!!:hyper:

Steffy - LOL! Counter envy, how funny! And, isn't it great to get "Mickey Mail!"

WoodysRoundup - OK, ya got me there!! I can't think of 8 mos. worth of planning, either! But, DD and I usually pick our restaurants by looking over menus, and by the parks we're going to each day. Who am I kidding, we choose our parks by where we want to eat that day!:teeth: Then, we start making daily itineraries for each day. As we get closer, and the park hours become available, we rearrange our schedule, change our minds about the restaurants and so on!! It occupies our time, anyway!;)

Welcome, ValerieK and captainconcierge!!

Thanks for all the warm welcomes for my DH, captainconcierge.

welcome back BT Hope you find time to relax and dream of WDW yet this weekend

k&a&c'smom - boy, do y'all sound like us! Two things determine our itinerary: where we want to eat and whether MK is open late that evening ('cuz we love MK at night).

WoodysRoundup , yup, Brookfield Zoo, where we are members. We live anout a mile away. We go so often I don't see how we haven't done AKL yet - it seems to be a natural.

Welcome to all the new visitors - all I can say is, you're gonna love this board!

Steffy... You're right....coming to these boards helps! :teeth: You're going in Dec. also?

k&a&c'smom... Love your "which restaurant/which park" planning strategy! BTW, what are your favorite eateries for people with toddlers? (Other than character meals)

steveanddonna... Did I ever mention that the first decade of my life was spent living in Berwyn? ;) Lots of great memories there!

BT... Any additional IPO info.???:teeth:

(pun very much intended) I grew up in Hinsdale, but fell for the neighborhood feeling of Berwyn when I met DH. We intended to fix up our big old 4-square & sell it, but we've stayed 9 years now.

DH's thread... just wanted you all to know that DH has made an offer to gather soundbytes on our next trip for anyone interested. He started a thread on the resorts board (probably not the appropriate board) if anyone is interested in having a particular sound clip.

Good morning all! I had to leave as soon as I posted so I couldn't properly thank you guys.

BambiTamby - Welcome back! You must be exhausted after that mad rush. Thanks for info on the lounge.

I do absolutely love your hula girls!

I think I would absolutely drive myself insane if I had to 6 months or more to plan a trip. I started planning for this one not too long ago & I'm going bonkers on all the decisions....cruise, spa service, resort, PSs and shows. My DH says I'm now certifiable ! Too bad I couldn't get him involved on the board....I've kept the cruise a surprise and I still haven't told him I got the Lodge. He'd know all the details if he came out here. Boy, I'm doing pretty good about keeping it hush hush. I owe it all to you guys, letting me getting it off my chest & celebrating with me :teeth:! :grouphug: - How else can I say it, but - Thanks you guys!!!

Thanks Steffy for the congrats! K leaves first... then a bunch of us leave in tandem! I would just like to see some consistant sunshine at this point, instead of a few hours a week! Then again, all I kept saying last night was "We're going to Disney!" <---husband knows I am certifiable LOL

Woody'sroundup>> One of our best family memories, is watching my kids, the youngest a baby himself, watch their father get "airplaned" with his greenbeans when he didn't eat all of them at Prime Time Cafe. I think younger kids like it since mom and dad are getting in trouble, rather than them!

I see nothing wrong with restaurant, then park choice! Sounds normal to me! DS and I have great ideas where we want to go, and know what we will probably order. DH on the other hand thinks we're crazy! ::yes:: Although, he just bought a major new toy yesterday, so to counter that I told him he owed me 10 minutes in front of my computer so I could show him a few things.:hyper: He can't decide between Jiko or Artist Pointe, darn it, we might have to do both! :) I can talk in code to DS, even DD has caught on, DH is clueless (ie, we're going to AKL on the AP because of their great CMs but I wonder if the CRT PSs will come in on time!)

Bamby>> I hope you get today off? Sounds like great business, but one also needs to rest and reflect! I do LOVE the hula girls! I have no idea where my mind was when I was looking at them cracking up laughing! I ran into an alligator clipart of yours last night. Great work!

Happy Sunny(for a bit at least!) Palm Sunday!
Debbie

We loved the BC CL!
Remember....it's FUN to try other resorts...especially their CLs!::yes::
And what a wonderful 40th bday gift, an Illuminations Cruise!
We've done those several times, and they are worth EVERY penny! Now, Valerie, are you going to have room service set up a cake and some refreshments, too?
What a suprise!

Thanks for the warm welcome.

We are going to have cake on the boat, I did the birthday cruise, with the decorations and everything. I also asked if somethings could be bought and placed in the room for him. He loves Donald and Daisy Duck, so the IPO is looking for some things for him. They have been great.

Hey, Debbie!! - LOL! I love your "code" talk - nobody but DD would get it at my house!:teeth: And I definitely think Jiko and Artist Point are in order - we can't seem to fit AP in, but we intend to stay at WL soon. Hope you guys get some of our beautiful weather before you leave!!

WodysRoundup - Well, most of the restaurants we've been to have all ages of children there, but Tony's Town Square was a big favorite with our kids when they were young, Lady & The Tramp, ya know. But, we didn't take our kids until the youngest was 6, so it's a little hard to advise. Whispering Canyon is fun for all ages, Ohana too. Both have lots of children's games. I second Deb's suggestion for '50's PT, my kids loved watching Dad have to eat his green beans! DD says Sci Fi was a favorite when she was little. Hope this helps!

steveanddonna - We love MK at night, too!! In fact, last Dec. we threw our stuff on the bed when we checked in, then grabbed a bus to MK for Spectro and Wishes!!::yes::

Oh, I remember somebody posting on the dining board how their young children really enjoyed the Biergarten in Germany, with the Oompa band, etc. They said she got up and started dancing!! That might be another good choice, we also love San Angel Inn at Mexico, the view of El Rio del Tiempo is so pretty!:wave2:

Just when I thought I had it all together - DH gives me the green light to split my stay after all! I was debating on that split stay , but didn't know if he would go for it. Well he shocked me just a little while ago when it came flying it out of his mouth that he'd like to do the safari at AK. I told him he would have to stay at AKL to do it and he said sure. That's all he had to say & poof I'm going for it ::yes::! I know he won't be disappointed - AKL followed by the WL - oh, man :sunny: he's going to be in heaven:tongue:! I was a little honest though - I told him we would have to stay CL to get the safari. He didn't seem opposed to the idea at all. I might make a lounge lizard out him yet :teeth:.

BambiTamby - I changed my dates in Fred's/Majestic's calendar and it looks like you'll be at WL at the same time we are! Maybe our paths will cross in the lounge ? You won't be able to miss us - DH is 6'5 with his shoes off while I'm a dashing 5'2 with shoes on (LOL) - so we usually stand out in a crowd ;).

Hey all, thanks for this wonderful thread.

My family is considering staying at the Grand Floridian this summer, and really want to stay concierge. However, Main Building is too expensive at rack and rarely discounted, so we are looking at Sugar Loaf.

Questions I have:

Has anyone here stayed at Sugar Loaf? What is the concierge like? How is the service? What kind of food and drinks are served? Is there breakfeast? What rooms would you recommend (lodge tower)? How close is it to the main building, the monorail, and the bus?

I would be most gratified if anyone could answer any of these questions, tell about their stay at Sugar Loaf, or provide any other info.

Thanks so much. I hope I don't sound too anxious or inquisitive. I just don't want to leave any stone unturned.

Welcome, eclipseSD! - I've been to GF, but not CL, so I'll let someone else answer!

Bambi - just wondered, when you split your stay do you let WDW transfer your luggage, or do you take a cab?:sunny:

VAgal76..so glad to see that you're going to be doing a "split-stay" on your trip!
WL and AKL...what an awesome combination!::yes::
And you KNOW we'll see each other at the lounge!:teeth:

eclipseSD....WELCOME to our little thread and the wonderful world of WDW concierge!:wave2:

From what I've read, the GF SL is a very nice concierge.
Sort of like the CR Tower Club....am thru mid-afternoon food/drink offerings, but you will have access to concierge services thru the pm, for PS's and other requests.

And I hear you about the discount thing.
The CLs at GF RPC are rarely discounted, maybe a AAA rate on some rooms.
14th floor CR, which is full concierge, has the suites,no discounts.

BTW...the Sugar Loaf building, which houses this concierge, is NEXT to the main building and close to the marina and courtyard.
Very central location.

k&a&c'smom.....hehehe! Someone's going to WDW SOON!:hyper:

Also, I always use a cab and transfer my own luggage and check-into the next resort in the early am.
Not much $$$ to spend on piece-of-mind for a cab.:sunny:

HAVE FUN, girlfriend!!!!!!!:Pinkbounc

Thanks so very much, sweetie!! That's what I was thinking of doing, but thought maybe everybody else just had them transfer. I'm packed, bags waiting by the door, can't wait!!:jumping1:

Can someone please give me the email address for the AKL IPO. I am trying to keep the concierge level upgrade a surprise for my husband and two boys, but I really want to contact the AKL IPO about booking a sunrise safari. I am afraid if they call me, the surprise will be blown. Thanks for your help.

Hinsdale???? The latter part of my childhood was spent living in Oak Brook!!! I was your neighbor!!! ::yes:: Also, I'd love to hear all about your vow renewal ceremony at WDW!!!

hockeymom and k&a&c'smom... Thanks for the restaurant suggestions!! I forgot about 50's PT!!! It's been years since I've eaten there! I think after it first opened! Love the Germany idea too!

k&a&c'smom... Oh my gosh....ONE MORE DAY!!! Safe travels!!! Have a blast! Wish I were joining you!!! Can't wait to hear all about it!!! :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

BambiTamby , thanks so much for that vote of confidence on Sugar Loaf. Having done a bit more research, plus the many positive comments on the DIS, I am most likely booking the Sugar Loaf very soon! :bounce:

Of course, ears will always be listening for any possible RPC discounts.
