Whoa! What a day here on the boards!

Sazzo'sMommy...there will be plenty of snacks at the BC concierge! I remember alot of goldfish there, as DS loves them also! But, you can always take extras if your DD is a goldfish addict! they also sell them downstairs, in the giftshop...primo price though!;)
From what I remember about BC, there was sandwiches, cookies, crackers, cheese...lots of snacks, dessersts, hot finger foods, and dishes from Cape May or Yachtsman.
They do close the lounge periodically to clean up and ready for the next "offering" of goodies!:teeth:

Everyone...I'm pretty tired and a little discouraged today.
I had the YS (Yosemite Suite) already booked and deposit paid, and thought that I had a res for a connecting concierge room with AAA discount.
This am, I called to hopefully get the AP rate to apply to the connecting room, and was told that my connecting res did NOT exist! The CM hadn't linked the two reservations together as I had requested, and there were no rooms at concierge level.
PERIOD.
No rooms at rack rate!
Nada! All gone! :(

After being on hold for a total of 4 hours today...no exageration,::yes:: , I finally get a WL woods room with AP rate of $139.
I'm so upset about this!
I guess I need a good night's sleep, and think what to do when I get back from this coming trip!
Deposit isn't due until I get back, and maybe by that time, something will come available.
I was so upset today, but I remained calm and very cordial with every CM...because getting mad at them does NOT help any situation....I felt like cancelling the YS and just staying at the Dolphin in our executive suites for the whole trip!

Majestic, one CM sugested that I keep the woodsview WL room and she linked it to my YS res, and said that CL would probably not have a problem with my parents coming up to our suite and the lounge.
What do you think?
I just was so looking forward to staying at the WL, and doing a nice suite.
Haven't done WL in years!
In fact, when we went there last time, they had just started CL and it was considered "concierge light". Nothing like what I'm reading now about WL CL.

Oh, well.....tommorow is another day!
think I need to see our little fishie!;)

BT>> Is adding the 25 per extra adult charge to your reservation a possibility? This would cover your parents. I am not sure what your occupancy is, so not sure if this is a valid option, but it is worth looking into! They'd still have their own room, but also be linked to your room. I think I have seen other people do this on the boards.

Debbie

Remember... keep swimming, swimming, swimming!

Take the concierge upgrade!
We're just back from our first non-concierge stay in 7 years & all I can say is - NEVER again! We're both too spoiled. We would have even paid rack rate if a concierge room was available. There's an incredible amount of value in not having to go looking for breakfast, being able to grab a little snack after swimming or the parks, having staff right in your building to help (like when they screw up programming your room card, which is what happened to us) instead of having to walk to the GCH, and just having someplace away from the room to kick back & relax. The times we took our young nieces & nephew with us, we though the concierge lounge was invaluable. Even as just 2 adults this trip we found we spent more on snacks, water, soda, etc. without our beloved concierge level.

Hi to everybody else, & thanks for the pre-trip wishes and PD.
We didn't get the upgrade (even tried a couple of times while at the Poly) & now we feel SO deprived we're thinking about a May trip just to get right again!

Hey BambiTamby-
sorry to hear about the screw up! I get so worried about my reservations ever since I had a screw up when I went to New Orleans 3 years ago.
Now I call and check my ressies like every few weeks or so- they are probobly tired of hearing from me!!!

Hope everything works out for you!
btw...are you packed yet?
I'm going to buy some new clothes this weekend! So no packing for me till I have a little shopping spree!! woohoo!:cool1:

#1hockeymom...can't add the parents on the room because there's a 4 person limit for the YS, and we'll be a party of six....... 4 adults, DS and my 6yo niece!
That's why I needed to get another room~
Wonder if the $139 WV room is still on my ressie?
I haven't even checked this am.

MagicPrincess....I have been so busy with everything else, I STILL haven't packed! but, sinceI travel frequently, I have my suitcase "half-packed" at all times! If I don't have it when I get there, I buy it! Lot less stress!;)

think fishie should be our mascot?

Oh BT...I feel so badly for you!! :( You need lots of PD for your situation!! :)

If you want my two cents....Probably NOT what you want to hear, but if a connecting concierge room does not become available, I'm not sure I'd stay there. Your parents might feel left out of the "action" being on another floor?? Just thinking ...maybe that wouldn't be the case for your parents. What a bummer that this all happened.

Well, I would agree that nobody up there will stop you from bringing up your parents. When we were there in September, we had some family that lives about 2 hours away. They came to Disney to visit and spent the day with us. Nobody even questioned them being with us. I don't get the impression that anyone on that floor will give you a hard time. Especially, and I know this may not sound right but, for the fact that you are staying the VP suite. :)

I would wing it. You can also mention to them that if at all possible, if it becomes available you want the connecting room. My experience says they will do whatever they can.

The guest services manager for concierge is Mark Newman. Make sure you say hi to everyone when you are there. :)

Bambi Tamby,

That's a tough situation. I guess it might feel a little awkward for them to be on another floor especially if there are other guests in the connecting room while you are in the suite. This happened to us last year. We had the Yellowstone Suite booked and the connecting room. They got it all goofed up. We ended up not going but it was still a pain to have the reservations be a mess for a month or so.

Good luck with your decision. Let us know what you decide. :D

Ohhh, Bambi! :( - I am so sorry!! What a terrible thing to happen. I feel so bad for you. Maybe all the positive thoughts going your way will help the magic happen for you!! :grouphug:
I hope something comes open before your trip, lots of PD to you.

Debbie Glad your son had a great time - I'll go look for your report!!:wave2:

WoodysRoundup - Thanks, and I will definitely give a report when we return!!

Dory should definitely be our mascot!!:Pinkbounc

BT~Argh! On the phone for 4~hours, and STILL cordial?!? Sounds just like moi, on the phone with AT&T Wireless the last few months...LOL.

I would KEEP the suite, and just relax. I'm confident something will open, and you'll have the connecting room you need. Think positive thoughts...and call to speak with Mark Newman. Perhaps he can pass on your needs to a reservation specialist he has an association with, and together they can MAKE the MAGIC HAPPEN. As long as someone knows you NEED this specific accomodation...it should not be a problem.

OF COURSE...there's always the EXECUTIVE SUITE at the DOLPHIN if you need it!! ::yes::

*Are we related? Your philosophy of "if I don't have it when I get there, I buy it," IS MINE PRECISELY!! :teeth: This way, I NEVER stress over packing. Especially since we are gone the better part of two months+...I'm BOUND to forget something! Once, it was our PAP's!! My Dear friend retrieved them from my dresser...and used overnight services w/fed ex. VOILA~we were in business!
She did the same w/DD's ear meds a few years earlier. Thank Goodness for wonderful people in our lives, TRUE BLESSINGS. :goodvibes:

I'll hold you in my thoughts...and prayers. You are a GOOD (understatment) person, and GOOD things happen to GOOD people!

We loved AKL concierge! What a great way to make our stay even more magical! Looking forward to revisiting it in December!

The phone rang... guess who? *no, it wasn't swimming, swimming, swimming fishies!*

Allanah just called from AKL. I reserved the sunrise safari, so we're set on round two of *mutual of omaha music* animal kingdom sunrise safari/breakfast! I then discussed at length my huge concern about smoking savannah view v. pool view. Concierge smoking rooms are the pool view. I have requested/prayed/begged for my usual location and I am praying/hoping/not quite whining yet that it wont be overbooked and that we will get it. I did let her know that if she thought the deluxe savannah rooms would be overbooked for that week to let me know and I would downgrade my reservation to regular savannah view since view meant more to me than the concierge lounge *I know, a strange request!* She was wonderful on the phone! She even remembered talking to me last January when I had concerns over my 6 days/ three reservations/ one room mini vacation with my son! Must be that ankole cattle obssession I have!

So, please think happy thoughts! DH will die if we're in a non smoking room. I will die if we're not in Ankole land, or at least on a savannah!

I'm sorry BT!

You are so kind and helpful! I hate that this happened to you!

I'll be sending PD your way to help you in your decision making!:wave2:

thanks for the advice...we booked the concierge from 8/9-8/10. Lagoon view...now just gotta decide to go 1st or 3rd floor....

but things could still work out. Don't give up yet. There is still time. You know that number use it!

A question for all of you that change resorts. I'll be leaving Friday to stay in Savannah, then to Board Walk Inn concierge for 2 nights, then waterview at BWI for 1 night, then Peabody Club for 3 nights, then back to BWI concierge for 1 night. Who knows about the final Saturday night. May have to stop before I'm home in South Carolina. Part of the trip is a reading conference so...nicer clothes.

Well, are all these CM's going to die laughing when they see 3 suitcases, a garment bag, makeup case, a rolling trolly with the assorted liquid refreshments when I check in. They will think that I'm only staying for a night or two to look at my reservations!

I need help condensing all the stuff! the bad side is my friend who is coming along packs more than me!
Help, help, help...
Byrd

Thanks ya'll for all your sweet prayers and pixie dust~!

I'm going to keep the YS and wait until we get back before I even think about the JUNE trip!
LOL! gotta get thru this trip first!;)

You ALL are so wonderful and understanding~!
Takes a "lounge lizard to know a lounge lizard!" LOL!
dreamflight99... I swear we HAVE to be related! ROTFL!::yes::

Bryd.....take it from a frequent traveler, pack light!
Take good basics, sprinkle in some nice accent pieces, and if you don't have it when you get there, just buy it!!
(Like DF and I do!):teeth:

But, don't despair! I remember my first WDW trip.....5 SUITCASES!!! and my mother was even worse!:earseek:

The more you travel, the less you learn to take!
And roll your clothes, those plastic travel bags are wonderful, use Ziplocs for all toiletries and put things inside other things!

Hope I covered the basics for packing 101!:wave2:

Wow! My counter is looking awesome!
No matter what....we're going to WDW in a couple of days!
YIPPEEE!!!!!

Bambi Tamby~! Judging from your count down clock we are going to be there at the same time this weekend! DH is bringing DD3 up from Miami where she is doing her CP Therapy. DD9 and I will meet him there. He's going to the Yankee/Brave Game at WWoSp. So, we're taking DD3 to the Magic Kingdom! Maybe we'll run into you! TTTT (Ta Ta Til Then!)

BT, you know it will all work out for your June trip.
It just has to!

:)

Enjoy your trip in 3 DAYS!!!!

Living vicariously through your posts.

STROLLER ADVICE NEEDED!!!
Since you've all been so helpful around here- I need a little advice that's kinda off Concierge topic!

Have any of you ever taken your own stroller to Disney on a plane, and did you use an umbrella stroller, or the larger travel system type of stroller?
I'm a little concerned gate checking our nice stroller, but on the other hand, DD would be so much more comfortable. She's pretty tall for her age, and her feet nearly touch the ground with an umbrella stroller!

Any advice would be helpful!
Thanks!
