how many nights at disney makes a more relaxing stay

We always do 15 or 16 nights depending on our flights. Flying in from Canada is so expensive so we like to really make the most of it every year. It gives us a really nice break from the harsh winter up here. One time we only went for 7 nights and it seems like we had just gotten there when we had to pack up and leave.

On our second trip we stayed ten nights which seemed to be the most relaxing trip we've had. We had time to do everything we wanted besides going to the parks. It was nice to spend a day or two just at the hotel (BC) without going into the parks.

For our upcoming trip, we'll be staying six nights and already it doesn't seem like enough. I'm juggling our schedule around trying to fit in things we want to do. This trip we won't have time for AK or BB most likely.

It also depends on the time of year. When we visit, in early December, the parks close early so you can't get in as much touring time.

We've done 4,5,6,7 and 8 on our last one! It was awesome! The longer the better!!!!!pixiedust:

2 Years ago, I went with 7 full days and found that I was able to do the following:

- we were able to spend a full day at all 4 of the Disney Parks
- for our favorite parks, MK and Hollywood....we went an additional 1/2 day
- We were able to go to both of the Water Parks
- We had enough time to spend 1/2 day at Downtown Disney.
- We had enough time to leave early and spend the evening swimming at CBR on most nights
- I was able to plan out enough time to have a dinner at Ohana, Boma and the Character Dinner at Grand Floridian.

There were no days where we really slept late, but we were able to take our time to get up and not feel guilty about getting to a park early or leaving MK early and missing the fireworks. If there was a super long line at our favorite ride at our favorite park....we could go back on another 1/2 day and just spend time riding our favorite rides. On top of that....we were able to actually enjoy some of the amenities at CBR ( I loved that I could take a jog around the resort in the evening while hte kids swam at the pool at 10pm at night ) that we paid for and usually never use.

Basically, I was able to plan out the trip where I could space things out and not worry about having to rush from park to park cuz we had enough time to do things that we enjoy.

This upcoming trip in the summer of 2014....I'm planning an 8 full day stay at DW....it will give us more time to enjoy ourselves.

We have a 14 night trip coming up for Food & Wine festival, and I am already thinking of adding more time to that!:)

This is why we plan longer trips. My oldest has sensory issues and she does much better on a more relaxed, less stimulating schedule. I don't want to come home and feel like we need a vacation from our vacation!

This is a really tough question, as we've been assessing the factors that make a Disney trip relaxing for years! Since my own childhood, I've stayed 1 night, 2 nights, 3 nights, 4 nights, 5 nights, 6 nights and 8 nights. We usually stay between 3 and 6. Like a previous poster, I'd rather go for fewer nights (3-5) but more frequently. We tend to take longer trips when we don't plan to return for another year or so.

But whether it's more relaxing really depends on a number of factors, and number of nights is just one of those!

Here are a few:

1) Having APs and visiting more frequently. That creates far less rush to do stuff and allows us to just visit our favorites.
2) When our boys (now ages 6, 13 and 14) understand that we will have down time at the resort. We were just at DL and I was on my own with our three boys one afternoon. They had the option of fitting in more at the park or taking a break at the resort - they actually chose the break!
3) When we stay between 5 and 8 nights. Eight is definitely relaxing, but we could easily relax with fewer nights if all these other pieces are in place. The only ones that are really hurried are the 1-2 night stays. Even a 3-night with realistic expectations (just MK and Epcot, for example) can be relaxing.
4) When we have ADRs for lunch and dinner each day. No worries about waiting in line, finding a table, etc. And we've selected places with healthy choices during our stay - good for everyone's overall health/mood during the trip.
5) When we're staying club level and don't have to worry about breakfast for five each morning. It also makes an afternoon break more enjoyable and then we visit the lounge for wine/beer/sodas and appetizers before a later dinner ADR.
6) The consolidation of Vinylmation trading. Now that trades are only available in limited locations, our boys are less obsessive about running into every store to check the trading situation, and we can all relax a little more.

Seven nights is about right for us. A couple years ago we took a 10 night vacation, and honestly, after night seven, we were ready to come home. My kids missed being at home after awhile. :)

If I could stay for 9 days, but my budget allows me only 6 days. Plane tickets are expensive, 2000 miles it is far.

I would love to do nine nights!

We typically do six to seven nights, arriving Friday or Saturday and head for home Friday. We have been to the parks enough where we have our must see/ride things to do, go see what's new to the parks and we spend a lot of time at the resort.

We enjoy exploring the resort and it's grounds, spend time at the pool and bars, eat at the signature restaurants, and if the resort has these; ride the surrey bikes, take the boats out, take a horse drawn carriage ride, etc.

Typically we take Wednesday off from the park to do these things and to go to Down Town Disney or play miniature golf. It's nice to slow things down for WDW vacations. We use to wake up early to get to a park, stay late to watch the fireworks, and get crushed in the crowds to get back to the resort when they were over.

I agree.....I'm contemplating expanding my 8 full day / 9 night stay to 9 full days / 10 night stay. By switching from CR to BC/YC and the savings that I get from switching up the arrival date....I would save about $150 and get an additional full day to spend there. I will have to talk to DW to see if I should do that or not.

I'm hoping that 10 is the magic number:thumbsup2 We're going for our first 10 night stay in Nov. I want some down time and don't want to feel like we have to go, go, go to get to all the park attractions. We have two rooms at POR so I'm hopeful that dh will have some time to relax w/out all of us around as too much time w/ the kids starts to stress him out if he doesn't have some space. Next time we go I think I'll do a Villa since we'll probably bring our oldest ds and his gf.

Ten nights is the right amount of time for us. We like a couple of days to just relax, do a waterpark, shop, hang out at the pool, walk around the Boardwalk, rent a mouseboat, ride a surrey bike, mini-golf, etc. If we stay a week or less, we don't ever make the time to do all the extra things, we just go, go, go at the four main parks.

we keep getting longer and longer, last time was 7 nights I think and towards the end we were still wishing for a few more days because we were finally feeling relaxed and then it was time to leave :(
This year we are doing 12 so we will see how that turns out :)
