How many MYW tix can be applied toward AP?

I might book a Magic Your Way stay with 1 non-hopping base ticket for myself and my son(8). I already have an AP so I don't need my park ticket. I know I can probably apply the purchase price of my son's ticket toward his AP (if I go that route). Can I also apply the other base ticket as well? And, I'm not sure if it complicates matters, but I would also be using the DVC discount for the AP as well.

The only reason I would book a package is for the dining option but don't want the park tickets to go unused.

Sorry, you can only apply the value of one ticket towards the purchase of one new ticket.

You would be able to apply 1 base ticket toward your son's AP (must do this at the park's guest relations), and they will also apply the DVC discount. We did this inside Epcot and they specifically asked us if we had DVC for the DVC AP discount (unfortunately we aren't DVC owners). You can save the other base ticket to apply toward your next AP (or whatever pass you get in the future).

Does the one-day ticket then have to be a non-expiry ticket? Do they even sell them that way?

One day tickets are all non-expiring. On 2 days or more, the 14 day clock starts with the date of first use.
