How does DDP work with multi-night stays pieced together?

We have our first DVC stay coming up, it is technically 3 reservations:

April 13-16
April 16-17
April 17-18

I was going to contact member services and request this be a continuing reservation, they are all for the same resort and room type.

We would ideally like to add the dining plan for four of the five nights.

Is it possible to add the dining plan for 2 of the three reservations and still ask to remain in the same room throughout the stay? Any experiences with how this works would be appreciated!!

You can ask to remain in the same room, but I can't remember if it's at check-in or if you can do it beforehand. If it's before, I would still verify at check in. I do recall needing to get a new key card in the morning of a new continuing reservation in the past, but that was before magic bands and MDE on cell phones but maybe that's easier now.

Which day did you want to leave out of the DDP? The last day? If so, I would merge the first 2 reservations and leave the last one separate to avoid things getting messed up. If it's the middle one you want to skip, I would leave them alone. In that case, just make sure a helpful CM doesn't merge them for you.

The DDP is for an entire reservation and everyone on it, so with three reservations, you can do a DDP for one, two or all three.

DDP is purchased for the length of the reservation. So with that in mind you do NOT want combine all 3 reservations if you don’t want the DDP for the whole time. You can have reservations noted as “continuing” to hopefully stay in the same room.
