How many miles on your car? What make/model?

2003 Volvo S40, bought it with like 137k and have about 142k on it now... from what I understand, it should still have a good couple years in it? Using it to commute to work in VA :)

My prior car I was the 3rd owner on.. 1996 Toyota Camry, had over 300,000 miles on it when it died! And I got more for it as scrap than I paid for it.

1999 Ford Explorer ~75,000 miles.
2003 Hyundai Elantra~80,000 miles

The Elantra was my first brand new car and replaced the 1991 Pontiac Sunbird my parents had given me. Had her until she hit 160,000 miles...the mechanic couldn't help her anymore  I loved that car...

Both our cars have been paid off for many years now and we will drive them into the ground like we did with the Sunbird...may she RIP...:rotfl:

2005 Dodge Ram 32 000 miles
2002 Mercedes ML320 110 000 miles
1997 Toyota Rav4 312 000 miles

My husband is a mechanic, so all 3 were wrecks that he fixed. We've had the rav4 forever and use it most of the time to save the other 2 vehicles. We keep thinking it will die soon, but it hasn't yet and he hasn't put any major repairs on it yet.

I have a big v-8 pickup and oh how these gas prices are really starting to add up! I am looking into possibly getting a hybrid or maybe even an electric car then I put that $300 a month I am spending on gas towards something useful!:thumbsup2

06 Honda Acoord 101,000
08 Honda Odyssey 60,000 (7500 of those racked up while driving to WDW).

Hoping to keep the Accord for another 4 years and the Odyssey another 4-5.

2007 BMW 525i - 75,000 miles
2008 GMC Acadia - 55,000 miles
2010 VW Jetta - 20,000 miles

We haven't done road trips in any of these cars, so 90% of the miles are from highway commutes.

We will trade in the BMW at 100,000 miles. The maintenance costs are just exorbitant, not to mention it takes a ridiculous amount of time to get parts shipped from Germany.

Not sure when we'll trade in the Acadia. We've had to replace the HID headlights three times now, and the seat belts were replaced because of a recall. The transmission is very slow to shift, both up and down, so I have a feeling that will go at some point in the next few years. We had a 1999 GMC Yukon before the Acadia, and it only underwent routine maintenance until we traded it in at 130,000 miles, so I'm not sure if it's just our individual vehicle that has problems or a bunch of them. The transmission is known to be slow, but I haven't heard of multiple headlight failures.

The Jetta has been an excellent commuter car. It's small enough to park in tight spaces, but large enough to fit four people comfortably. As long as nothing major happens, we plan on keeping it another 6-7 years.

Pintomina, with careful driving and routine maintenance, you should get more than a couple more years out of your 2003 Volvo. We have a 2001 Volvo V40 with more than 150,000 miles on it (I rarely drive, so I rely on DH and DDs to tell me stuff like this.) We also have a 2002 Volvo S60 with about 180,000 miles and a 1997 Volvo 850 with almost 200,000 miles. The S60 is driven 60 miles r/t daily to work and the V40 is drived 26 miles r/t daily to work. The 850 is the "back-up" car for when one of the others is in for service or if I have an emergency and simply MUST go somewhere when no one else is around. Can you tell we like Volvos?:)

We do all the routine maintenance as scheduled, rotate and replace tires, check belts and rubber around doors, etc. And something that many people just don't focus on, we keep the cars clean, washing them ourselves in good weather, going to the carwash in bad weather.

2000 Honda Accord---227,000
Last year spent around 1800 for repairs (water pump, belts, hoses, erg valve)

I got my mother's Toyota Avalon. It is 2000 model and just hit 43,000 miles, so I am anticipating it to last quite a while. Looks brand new and has never had any mechanical problems.
I will drive it minimally since I have two other vehicles-- all 3 are on the low-mileage insurance rate.
This one might even be around in 3 to 5 years when my granddaughter will need her own car.

199 Ford Escort - just turned over 100,000 miles yesterday!
2000 Ford Taurus wagon -104,000
2006 Ford Freestyle -45,000 miles
2001 Chrysler Concorde- 31,000 miles. when MIL passed away we just bought it from the estate since it was so low mileage, always garaged and maintained and truly driven just by a little old lady to church and never in rain or snow.

We just make sure we do regular oil changes and we have a reliable fair mechanic so we know when work needs to be done vs not necessary.

We have a '96 Ford Conversion Van that we bought new in '97. It has 194,000 miles. Our '02 Ford Focus we bought in Oct '01 and it has 168,000. I've got the best mechanic in the world. :lovestruc DH has been a tech at a Lincoln dealership for almost 27 years. ;)

2000 Ford Escort ZX2, 131k on it and still going strong! I have had a few minor problems, but since owning it have probably put in less than an additional $3500 (including all oil changes, tires, etc). For a year, I used it to make a weekly roundtrip that was about 300 miles one way - and that was after it was already at around 110k (and I drove it to work 5 days a week at the same time, at around 60 miles RT). It's been a great car, and I'm hoping to get a few more years out of it now that my commute is >1.5 miles one way (one stop sign, one traffic light. Bliss!).

I had a 2002 Ford ZX2 that I bought brand new. There was 326,000 miles on this car and going strong (nothing wrong with it). Last month my husband got hit by a deer (dang deer) and my insurance company totalled it out. 326,000 with no signs of slowing down until her death by deer.

We have a Dogde Grand Caravan 02 with 144,000 miles and a 2001 Dodge Ram Truck with 170,000! No car debt and hopefully a couple more years on both!

255,000 miles on a 1984 Chevy Impala. It doesn't have a whole lot left though.....will probably be junked by the end of the year...

I have a 2006 Hyudai Elantra with 54,000 miles and proud to say I just paid it off (purchased a year and a half ago) :goodvibes

I was the original owner of an '05 Mercury Mariner (20-22 mpg) that I traded in last year with 100,000 miles on it and never had any issues with it, just did oil changes and new tires. I loved that car/SUV, but I was sick of spending $300-$400 a month on gas.

I now have an '08 Toyota Prius (47-56 mpg) that I got with 31,000 miles and now have 55,000 miles on (I commute a lot for work, 500+ miles a week) and haven't had any issues, just regular oil changes. I plan to drive it until it dies, no more car payments for this girl!

2003 Mazda 6

175,000 miles

Just had brake service for the 2nd time. Replaced spark plugs about 25,000 miles ago. Otherwise, just oil/gas/tires/wipers!

Oh, and replaced the PCV not too long ago.

I have 6600 miles on a 2011 Nissan Altima. DBF has 126,000 on his 2006 Acura RSX. DD has 94,000 on a 2004 Saturn Vue AWD. They all run great. :)
